Chapter 51- Can't fight the moonlight

Colette woke up in an unfamiliar room. She yawned and stretched looking around at her surroundings and realising what happened the previous day actually happened.

Krista of course was already awake. She was sitting up in her own bed staring at Colette.

Colette noticed she was staring and frowned. "Uh..Why are you staring at me like that?.."

Krista shook her head awkwardly. "It's nothing.. I'ts just weird..what with this situation and all.."

Colette nodded. "I know I totally get it..But its weird for me too..I'm in the same situation you are..The last thing I need is you giving me grief over it.."

Krista held her hands up innocently. I'm not..It is your life after all..Believe me I'm not judging you.."

Colette shrugged. "Maybe I need to be judged..After all these years it seems I don't know what goes on through "Dad's" head after all.."

Krista smiled reassuringly. "Oh come on..It can't be that bad.."

Colette grinned. "Well, With every relationship it has its flaws admittedly but when it's good..its good you know?."

Krista nodded. "Like I said, You don't have to explain yourself to me."

Colette sighs. "I have days where I wish I never met him and there are days where I'm even explaining myself to myself wondering if I'm actually doing the right thing but between me and you.. The right thing is totally different from his and mine point of view."

Krista sighs. "Look.. There has to be a reason why he brought you here.. Maybe you should give him a chance?."

Colette frowns. "God I hate it whenever someone tells me something and they turn out to be right.."

Krista smirked. "What you mean all this happens often?.."

Colette laughs nervously. "Too often.. Where "Dad" Is concerned."

Krista smiled. "Well that's today's problem but you have heard about the party tonight?."

Colette's eyes widen in horror. "Party?! What Party?.. When?.. I don't even have anything to wear.. Or anyone to go with.."

Krista places her hand on Colette's shoulder. "Relax.. Stop panicking we will figure this out.. As for your date I think you already know who to go with.."

Colette looks at her with surprise and worked out what she was getting at. "You can't be serious?.. Oh come on I've spent the last ten minutes complaining about the guy and now you want me to go to a party with him?.."

Krishna raised her hands up innocently. "Hey I'm not the one that brought you here and secondly I doubt there will be anyone left in the school to even ask!"

Colette sat down in the bed. "I know.. I know it isn't your fault.. But come on be reasonable.. These guys think he's my dad."

Krista nodded. "And I'm supposedly your sister.. Your point is?.."

Colette looks at her sternly. "There's nothing worse than going to a party with your dad.. Most people would rather die or be dateless.. "

Krista swallows. "To everyone else he's your dad yeah.. I understand what your saying especially since he's the new English teacher and all.."

Colette gets up and stamps her foot. "Excuse me?.. Did you just say he's the new English teacher?."

Krista nodded looking at her sister wondering why she has such a problem with him.

Colette raised her first and clenched it. "I can't believe him.. It's just one thing after another and now he wants to embarrass me too?."

Krishna shakes her head. "I honestly don't think that's what he's intending to do.. Have you actually considered that he wants to be asked to this party?."

Colette points to her chest. "And it's me who has to ask him?.."

Colette growled frustratedly. "Besides I'm not even remotely sure that a party is really his style.. We used to have fun like this but he's changed a long time ago.."

Krista raised her eyebrows. "Exactly.. All the more reason to give the guy a chance.. After all you here for a reason remember?."

Colette frowned. "Did I mention I hate it when your right?"

Krista giggled. "Come on let's go and get some breakfast."

Together they walked in to find Milina cooking an English breakfast and Cole sitting down at the table. Who of course upon noticing Colette's entrance stood up and smiled at her.

Cole smiled. "Hey.. Did you uh.. Sleep well?."

Colette nodded awkwardly. "Yes thanks.."

Cole nodded over at the pan. "Your mother is just cooking some bacon and sausage and egg."

Colette frowned at that sentence and Cole frowned in return searching her face for answers. "What?."

Colette shakes her head. "Nothing.. I'm just still getting used to this bizarre situation."

Cole nodded. "I know.. It's not easy for me to either but it's all we have to work with."

When the breakfast was ready everyone greedily ate.

When Colette finished her breakfast, She found that something was bothering her but she didn't know how to broach the subject.

Cole looked at her and was worried with how silent she was.. He could tell what's bothering her. "What wrong?. .. If it's about this situation.."

Colette interrupted him. "No it's not that.. It's this uh Party."

Krista grins to her mother. "Perhaps we should leave them to it.. After all I have a party to get ready for."

As Krista turns to leave Colette grabs her arm. "Krista?.. Thanks for earlier."

She smiles at Colette. "You're welcome sis!."

Colette smiled at the word sister and then all of a sudden Krista bent down whispering into Colette's ear. "Go on ask him to the party!!"

Colette looked at her sister impatiently. "I thought you were leaving us alone.."

Milina grinned. "Come on Krista she has a point.. Come on I'll help you get ready for your date."

Krista groans. "Okay! I'm going but I want all the gossip when you get back."

Milina slapped her daughter gently. "Krista!! It's none of our business!." She grabbed her daughter by the wrist and left to with her to her daughter's room.

Cole smiled. "So are you going to explain what you meant about this party?."

Colette looked at him in surprise. "You mean you don't know?.. Wow I know something you don't know for once.."

Cole groaned. "Oh come on Colette.. Let's not fight please?."

Colette sighed in defeat. "Fine.. There's a party at the school later and well I don't have anything to wear nor do I have anyone to go with so I was thinking maybe we could uh go together."

She quickly added. "With no strings attached of course."

He frowned at Colette. "Of course not.. Colette you know I would never take advantage of you. Look, I know things haven't been easy on both us and we both have messed up along the way but I brought us here to try and fix that.. Don't we at least deserve that chance?."

Colette nodded. "I know.. I want that more than you know but you can't expect me to forget everything that's happened and replace someone else's shoes."

He shakes his head. "I'm not asking you to.. All I'm asking is that you give this and me a chance."

Colette sighs. "Is that a yes?.. "

Cole grinned. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Colette leaves the kitchen and heads into the bedroom to get ready.

Krista's mother was just finishing straightening her daughter's hair. She smiled at Colette then said " I'll leave you both to it."

When Krista's mother left them alone.. Krista grinned at her sister and asked her if she wanted her to straighten her hair.

Colette nodded and sat down. "So come on.. Who's your date?."

Krista grinned in the mirror. A very cute guy called Russ Plukett."

Colette spluttered with laughter. "That's the most insane surname I've ever heard.."

Krista laughed. "I know!.. That was before I found out he's supposedly a descendant of Richard the third or something.."

Colette turned around. "Oh come on.. You don't seriously believe that?.."

Krista frowned. "Well.. Tell me why not?."

Colette shrugged sarcastically. "I don't know.. Perhaps he said it to get into your knickers."

Krista shakes her head. "No he's not like that.. I refuse to believe it.. You don't even know him."

Colette nodded in agreement. "That's true but I do know his type."

Krista sighed and decided it was time to change the subject. "So what are you wearing?."

Colette shrugged. "I don't know.. Whatever I can find in your wardrobe I suppose."

Krista gave her a death stare. "I don't think so.. There's not a chance in hell that your raiding my wardrobe and secondly the party isn't till later."

Colette looked at her gutted. "What do you mean not till later?.. If it's not till later why on earth are we getting ready now?."

Krista grinned. "We are getting your hair and make up done now because it pays to be prepared especially since it's your first day.. You do wanna make a good impression don't you?."

Colette rolled her eyes. "Okay fine so we're coming back to get changed I assume?."

Krista grinned. "You assume correctly... The party starts at 5.30 and we finish school at 3.30 so we have plenty of time to get ready."

Colette sighed. "I don't think I'll be going if I can't even find an outfit.."

Just then there was a knock on their bedroom door.
It was Cole.

He smiled warmly at Colette. "Hey.. I was uh.. Wondering if you've managed to figure out what your outfit was going to be?."

Krista giggled. "Actually she was just stressing about that."

Cole grinned. "Well stress no more."

In his other hand hidden behind the door was a dress. He brings it into view and the girls admire it with surprise.

It was a beautiful blue gingham dress with strawberries and a cherry pattern.

Colette stared at him open mouthed. "Cole!!.. You didn't have to do that.."

He beamed at her. "I wanted to.."

Colette blinked feeling herself well up sightly but she fought hard to hold back the tears. "Thank you."

Cole handed over the dress grinning from ear to ear before he left to get himself ready.

Krista smiled happily. "Well that's one panic over.. Looks like you'll be able to go the the ball after all.."
