Facts:

- Hong's mace is a family heirloom, it becomes all rusty by the start of MKX when Kai inherited it was also replicated when she touched an actual mace in a weapons shop

- Her and her son are polar opposites, while Kai is mischievous and flirty, she is wise, yet strict

Backstory (Tw: death, suicide): Hong was born into a wealthy family in Heibei, China. She was an only child and lived with her family up until they were all slaughtered by her, she had discovered her fire power by accident when her house was lit on fire, everyone but her perished. Overwhelmed with grief, she attempted to kill herself over her careless actions, all attempts failed. A few months later, she decided to join the tournament in hopes of forgiveness, redemption, to be free from the regret she caused onto herself. After the events of Armageddon, she settles down, has a son named Kai, only to be killed in between the end of MK 9, and the beginning of MK X.

- He once considered joining the Black Dragon but reconsidered when he saw Kano

Backstory: Keiji was born to a single mother in Sapporo, five years after he was born, he was sent to be raised by his grandparents after his mother vanished suddenly. For years, he was left with no answers on what could've happened to his mother until he turned 19. He had found out he was targeted by assassins, his mother pleaded with the assassins, to have him spared and her killed in his place. As soon as he turned 20 he fought in the Mortal Kombat tournament looking for the assassin who had his mother killed, he fought for years only to give up at the end of MK 9. He settles down with his son, adopting a little girl from overseas. The trio lived as a happy family up until the beginning of MK X when Kano kills him, recruiting his son while his daughter was overseas studying, all that was left of him were his gauntlets and a vengeful revenant.
