(SCENE: CHINA IN THE MKVERSE) (POV: 3RD PERSON)

It's only been a month since Shao Kahn's death as Raiden, Oscar & their allies thought everything would return to stable and manageable levels. But things took a turn for the worst when Netherrealm attacked.

And leading the charge was none other then Shinnok the Fallen Elder God, along with his Right Hand Quan Chi. They wish to corrupt the Jinsei, power source & life source of Earthrealm.

They brought with them a massive army of Netherrealm demons, from weapon wielding ground fighters to aerial attacking strikers. On the streets, soldiers from the Special Forces were combating the demons.

One unfortunate soldier got killed by an unidentifiable projectile through his skull, leaving a dinner plate sized hole in it. As more soldiers came onto the scene, a flying demon swooped in and killed another soldier.

Soon, soldiers are starting to drop like flies as either flying demons or ground demons attacked them. A soldier took cover behind a barrel and opens fire on the flying demons. He only succeeded in bringing down one demon, but misses all the others.

As one of the demons did a low swoop near the soldier, another appeared behind him and let out a mighty roar as it flew towards the soldier, whose guard was down because of the previous demon.

The poor guy didn't even have a second to shoot back or defend himself as the demon grabbed him by his head and decapitated him. The demon got immediately shot down from gun fire by incoming helicopters.

One of the helicopters is occupied by Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Jax, Kenshi, Kabal, Stryker, Lady Nagant, Stain & several soldiers, all of who are wearing earpieces to communicate with each other.

"Destination's dead ahead." Says the soldier piloting the plane. "Set 'er down nice and easy." Johnny Cage says. "Don't I always?" The soldier questions. "If by 'always', you mean 'not once'." Kabal jokingly says as the soldier holds in a chuckles.

"Easy boys." Sonya says. "Whatever you say, Major." Johnny Cage says as Kabal turns to Jax. "Think we can get to the destination, General?" Kabal asks Jax, who gives him an uncertain look. "I don't know. We can handle the flying demons, but not so sure about other Netherrealmers." Jax says.

(A/n: Yes, I've decided to make Jax a General. Don't know much about military command, hierarchy & such, so I'm kinda walking on eggshells here.)

Sonya exits her seat as he makes her announcement towards the group of soldiers. "Alright, you all have the rendezvous coordinations. Far edge of the forest, where we'll enter into Raiden's Sky Temple through a secret portal." Sonya explains as Johnny Cage cuts in. "Where there's an angry former Elder God & his devils waiting for us." Johnny Cage says.

"Gods, portals, demons." One of the soldiers starts listing off in a tone that sounds like disbelief as Johnny adds onto his listings. "Blind guys with magical swords and people from another world." He says in a joking manner as Kenshi, Lady Nagant & Stain gave him a small smile.

"All worlds will change. Ours will be for the worst if we do not expel Shinnok from Raiden's temple. He means to poison Earthrealm's life force, the Jinsei." Kenshi explains as Sonya takes over. "And we're not gonna let that happen." Sonya says.

"We all appreciate the Major & General for allowing us to join you. We're happy to kick Shinnok's bony ass back to the Netherrealm." Johnny Cage says as explosions started going off. The group rushed to the cockpit to some of the coppers going down from dark fire balls.

"We gonna land this thing!" Stain exclaims as the soldier tries to do just that. But a Kunai on a chain bursted through the windshield and pierce itself into the soldier's skull as something caused it to be pulled out of the helicopter.

Sonya quickly took control as everyone got onto high alert by the sound of something inside of the helicopter. Everyone turned to see Scorpion has entered the helicopter completely undetected.

The soldiers tried to gang up on Scorpion, but the specter easily dispatched them with kicks & punches. Four of the soldiers got killed by Scorpion's swords as he sheathe the swords and knocks down Kenshi with a fireball. He then hurls his Kunai at Johnny Cage, who got caught by the spear and hurled towards the specter & got hit with back to back punches.

Scorpion then attempts a right hand strike, but Johnny Cage blocks the attack as he parries two more strikes, dodge a side kick and punch the back of his head, knocking him into the side of the copter.

Scorpion recovers from this hit as he pulls out his Kunai and charged at Johnny Cage, who barely blocks the attack. But Scorpion eventually overpowers Johnny Cage and stabs his shoulder with the Kunai.

Kabal intervenes as he stabs Scorpion with his hookswords and slammed him on the sides of the copter & slams him onto the floor. Right as Scorpion freed himself of Kabal's swords, Kenshi recovered and tackled out of the copter as Scorpion holds onto the copter's side handle with Kenshi hanging on to his leg.

Johnny Cage recovers as he hears someone else entering the helicopter. He looks towards the sound as he sees someone donning dull blue metal armor with familiar bright blue symbols on his shoulders & kneepads. His body has glowing yellow veins, glowing eyes and unearthly gray skin. His mask has demonic teeth like designs inside of it as his breath is visible, similar to that of cold.

"Sub-Zero? What the hell happened?" Johnny Cage asks as he gets back up. "Shit if I know, but I don't like it." Jax says as he and the others prepares for a fight.

The two surviving soldiers regain consciousness as they attempt to attack the imposter Sub-Zero, but he caught their heads, froze them and slams them together, breaking them into pieces. He then throws the bodies at the group.

While Johnny Cage dodges the bodies, the rest couldn't as they were knocked back to the seats. The imposter Sub-Zero creates an ice sword and charges at Johnny Cage. He caught the sword and breaks as he flips kick the imposter Sub-Zero, hitting the top of the copter.

The two trade blows, blocks & parries as Scorpion manages to kick Kenshi off of him. The blind swordsmen saved himself by stabbing his sword into the side of the copter.

Meanwhile, back in the copter, the imposter Sub-Zero lands a few goods blows onto Johnny Cage as he sensed something amiss. Before he could figure out what it is, Scorpion & the imposter Sub-Zero blasted him with the combine might of fire & ice.

Suddenly, the imposter Sub-Zero got caught in a blue glow as he was thrown out of the copter., thanks to the help of Kenshi. Johnny Cage recovers as he grabs Scorpion and punches him out of the helicopter. But Scorpion throws his spear into the copter and uses it to climb his way back up.

"No!" He screams as he tackles Scorpion out of the copter. The two were falling fast as Scorpion uses his hellfire powers to disappear, right before he hit the ground. Same couldn't be said for Johnny as he hit hard on the pavement.

Meanwhile, Sonya and the others, despite their best efforts, couldn't keep the helicopter airborne as they crash, damaging a large portion of the road. The impact caused Sonya and the others to hit their heads hard and lose consciousness.

Johnny Cage recovers from his fall as he rushes over to help the others when Scorpion teleports himself into his way. "The end is near." He says. "Getting a little ahead of yourself, aren't ya?" He mockingly asks as the two battle each other.

Scorpion's hellfire powers increased greatly as he can now summon demons from hell to assist him. Despite this, he failed against Johnny Cage's green energy.

Once Scorpion was dealt with, Johnny Cage rush to the helicopter. "Guys! Get outta there!" He yells out, but he got struck with an ice blast from the imposter Sub-Zero. The fake cryomancer approaches Johnny Cage as he creates an ice sword.

Johnny Cage spots a crowbar as he dodges the imposter's strike and grabs the crowbar. He then blocks an incoming strike and trips the Sub-Zero imposter as he gets back on his feet. "That was unpleasantly cold." He says as he fights the Sub-Zero imposter.

The imposter Sub-Zero has the same cryomancy abilities as the real Sub-Zero, but it has twisted into a strange kind of black ice. He even has some abilities from Cyber Sub-Zero's move list. Despite all of this, the imposter fell to Johnny Cage. "Well, that was both surreal and disturbing." He says as he rushes over to the copter to see everyone exiting the copter.

"You all okay?" Johnny Cage asks as he helps Sonya out of the copter. "We're good, Cage." Jax says. "Fared better than the men." Kenshi says as he gestures to the dead bodies. "Add 'em to the list of things Shinnok'll answer for." Johnny Cage says as he and the others rushed to the rendezvous point.

(SCENE CHANGE: RAIDEN'S SKY TEMPLE)

It wasn't any better at Raiden's Sky Temple. Unlike the heavily armed soldiers of the Special Forces, the monks weren't fighters at all as they get massacred by the demon's assault.

One of the demons got hit and sent flying by a fireball as some of the demons turned towards the direction the fireball was launched from and let out roars. The demons started spreading out to reveal the attackers: Raiden, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Oscar, Nana wearing some new battle gauntlets, Toga, Dabi wielding Shao Kahn's hammer in his hand, Huika, Shigeto, Easirah, Torjia, Kenjian, Herufaia and two other individuals with them.

One of them has no pupils, like Raiden. But he has long white hair that's been braided into a ponytail. On his right arm, a glowing tattoo resembling the chinese symbol for wind. Holstered on his waist & back, are three weapons: a crossbow on the right side of his waist, a sword called a Kusanagi no Tsurugi on the left & an axe Glaive like weapon.

This is Fujin, the god of wind & brother of Raiden.

The other warrior is an African American around the age of 27 with short black hair and long sideburns. His body has white Tiger stripe markings. His clothing is dark red with a head and a sash. He also dons black baggy pants and spiked gauntlets. In his right hand, he wields a large spiked club & in his left, he holds a Gurkha Knife.

This man is Kai, skilled Shaolin Monk & martial artist with pyrokinetic abilities.

The demons and the heroes do battle. Raiden & Oscar electrocuted several incoming demons while Fujin used his wind powers to hurl several of them off the cliff behind them. Short after this, Dabi unleashed a stream of fire at incoming demons, incinerating them.

Toga then threw several knives through the fire, catching them on fire as they hit the heads of several demons. Once the fire has exhausted, the heroes engaged in close proximity combat.

The battle last a good amount of time until the warriors were starting to lose steam. One of the flying demons tackled Raiden to the ground and was about to kill him, but decapitated by Kung Lao's hat.

Both he and Liu Kang helped Raiden up. "Lord Raiden, we cannot continue battling like this for long." Liu Kang says as Fujin nods in agreement. "He's right, brother. We must to re-fortify the portal's defense below." Fujin says, but Raiden shook his head at this. "No Fujin, it is too late." He says as the demons started closing in.

One of them was about to attack when it suddenly stopped dead in its tracks. Suddenly, a green skull pierced through the demon as the heroes dodge the skull. The demon fell onto the ground as it reveals a familiar figure approaching.

Once the figure steps into the light, it reveals to be Quan Chi. "The mighty warriors of Earthrealm." He mockingly says as the heroes glared hatefully at him. "Quan Chi, you have much nerve showing your face around here." Oscar says as Quan Chi fakes a hurt looking expression.

"Oscar, you wound me. Acting so rudely is unbefitting of a Hero." Quan Chi says as Oscar growls at this. "Silence, Quan Chi! You befoul these hallowed grounds! Begone!" Raiden exclaims as Quan Chi smirks at this.

"But I have a surprise for you all." Quan Chi says as this confused the warriors greatly. He moves aside as two more figures are seen approaching them. The heroes were confused, but that changed to shock when the figure reveals themselves to be..........Liu Kang & Kung Lao.

Except the other Liu Kang has gray skin, yellow glowing veins, glowing eyes, armor made out of steel & dragon scales. His chest has a dragon like design on it. His forearms and hands are covered by a black colored fabric, which are also covered by bracers that has both Dragon & spike elements to them. He also has a skull like belt buckle and warrior's skirt to it. His pants are a bit baggy and his shin & knee guards are spiked. His headband is dark red with black stripes & is tattered on different parts.

The other Kung Lao is much like the other Liu Kang: armor with spikes, tattered clothing, gray skin & glowing eyes and veins. His arm bracers are spiky on top while smooth with three Ruby like gems underneath. His nails have blackened & lengthened into claws. His iconic hat has four big blades with each blade having saw like edges to them.

"Impossible." Fujin says in shock as Quan Chi smirks at this. "Nothing's impossible when it comes to sorcery. Just needed a few drops of blood and I can create Revevants of your best fighters." He explains.

"You condemn them to a fate worse than death." Raiden says. "One you all will soon share. And my lord himself shall witness your fall." He says as the Revenants & the demons charges at the heroes.

(SCENE CHANGE: FOREST)

Meanwhile, at the outskirts of the forest, the group (along with some other fighters such as Nightwolf, Kira, Sindel (who is free from Quan Chi's spell), Kitana & Jade) sneak up on a campsite filled with demons. Said demons are stockpiling dead monks for either burning or eating.

Amongst the demon is a grey skinned person resembling Smoke, except for the glowing eyes & veins. This Revenant version of Smoke has demonic looks hands and feet while emitting pitch black smoke. His mask resembles the jaws of a Netherrealm demon while it too was emitting black smoke. His head was covered up by black fabric, except for a mohawk that resembles black smoke flowing through the wind.

Everyone lie and wait until they see another Revenant exiting the cave as they were in shock at who it was, or rather someone they're familiar with. The Revenant has a bald head with a beard & mustache. His body is well built with an extremely tattered t-shirt. He also dons a battle skirt, armored knee pads & boots. But the detail that sticks out the most is his metal arms, which are spiky and flowing with purple energy.

"Jax? No way." Sonya says in shock as the real Jax can only nod in agreement. Johnny Cage turns to Kenshi and Nightwolf, who both nod their heads as they perform to engage the camp when a portal behind them appears.

They turned to see Revenent versions of Nightwolf, Kitana, Jade & Sindel emerges from it with demons behind them.

The Revenant Nightwolf dons an armored vest with a shoulder pad/brace that wraps along his chest and back. His boots and jeans gotten armored. His forearms have furry bracers made from animal skins and are covered over by the rib cage of an animal. His knuckles also has claws sticking out of the fur, most likely from the animals it fur came from. His tomahawks look more realistic than magical and are covered in red energy instead of the usual green. On his back, he wields a Gunstock War Club that looks to be made from rock and bones from the Netherrealm. His helmet appears to be made from a wolf's head while having a metal mask covering his mouth & metal spikes are protruding from the wolf's head.

Revenant Kitana has a sorta mixture of skimpy & armored attire. She wears a kinda revealing pale blue leotard that reveals much of her unearthly gray skin and is tight on the skin. Her nails have lengthened in claws, similar to Revenant Kung Lao's nails. She wears fingerless gloves, combined with armor above her hands and it covering her forearms. Her elbow and knee pads are spiked. Her footwear is a combination of metal and sandals. The mask she wears is a two piece: one rests over her mouth while the other is on top of her head and it resembles a human skull.

Revenant Sindel wears a purple leotard like Kitana, but it also has fishnets in it. She also wears a spiky mini skirt to go along with the leotard. Her legs have thigh high stocking that's nearly see through. She also wears spiky high heels with the heel part being sharpened to the point where you could almost mistake it for a mini knife. On her waist is a folded up weapon that could very well be a Kwan Dao.

Revenant Jade is a bit more armored than the others. Her attire consists of dull green and steel knight like armor with claws like armor on her fingers. She dons a full face mask that covers her face, except for her eyes. Said mask appears to resemble a demon. Her hair has been cut down into a buzzcut. Her staff became consumed with red energy and became barbed. Her glavie is serrated and the blades edges are covered is the same red energy.

"By the Elder Gods." Kitana says in shock and horror at the sight of her own Revenant self. Suddenly, Revenant Nightwolf let lost a red lightning blast into the air, catching the attention of his fellow Revenants and demons.

"There!" The Revenant Jax says as he, Revenant Smoke & the demons charged at the group. "So much for a surprise attack." Kira says as she takes out her knives and engages the demons, along with the others.

Sonya decided to take on Revenant Jax. Suddenly, Revenant Smoke appears behind the soldiers and effortlessly take them down. Johnny Cage attempts to attacks the Revenant Smoke, but blocks all his hits and knocked him flat on his back.

He recovers from the hit. "Gotta do better than that, Smoke." Johnny Cage taunts as he gets back on his feet. "I am not that inferior puff of dust, I am Enenra." Revenant Smoke says as he resumes his attack on Johnny Cage.

Meanwhile, Sonya ducked under a punch from Revevant Jax as she attempts to kick him, but he blocked the kick with his own and counters with a kick from his other leg. This caused to kneel on one knee in pain, leaving her open to a kick from Revevant Jax.

Johnny Cage defeats Revenant Smoke with a back to back punches and a kick to the head as he saw Revenant Jax about to kill Sonya and rushed to help her.

"This is your last mission, Sonya." Revenant Jax says as he prepares to kill her, but gets stopped by a combine effort of Johnny Cage & Jax. "The real Jax would never hurt his best friend." Johnny Cage says as Jax nods in agreement.

"Johnny Cage & my weakling self. Killing you both will be a pleasure." Revenant Jax says as he fights with Johnny Cage & the Real Jax.

The battle was kinda short because of the double team of Johnny Cage & Jax. "Don't know much more of this I can handle." Johnny Cage says, feeling weirded out by fighting copies of his friends. "Know what you mean, but we got bigger fish to fry." Jax says as he and Johnny Cage regroups at the cave entrance with the others.

(SCENE CHANGE: INSIDE OF THE CAVE)

Inside of the cave, Johnny Cage follow Kenshi, whose sword is glowing brightly. "That the elevator?" He asks. "Yes, the 'elevator'." He says in a deadpan tone. "Sento contains the souls of my ancestors. They guide me." He says as the ground suddenly shakes and a loud boom is heard.

"Could they hurry the hell up?" Johnny Cage asks as he rejoins the others to see soldiers open firing on demons from the outside. Meanwhile, Kenshi stopped in his tracks as he sensed something. "Anata ga hirakimasu." He says in Japanese as ruins started glowing brightly and the portal activates.

"Goin' up!" Johnny Cage calls out, catching the heroes attention. "Fall back! Now!" Sonya orders as the soldiers and the others rushed through the portal.

Johnny Cage stopped to soldiers from entering. "You guys stay here. Close the door." He orders as he joins the others. The soldiers pulled out C4's as they prepare to destroy the entrance.

(SCENE CHANGE: JINSEI ENTRANCE)

Meanwhile, Raiden, Fujin, Oscar and the others are keeping the two Revevants & the demons at bay. Quan Chi merely laughs at their efforts as two shadowy hands appears from behind him.

Raiden and the others got on guard as the hands moved passed them. Suddenly, they jumped back as two bone hands appeared from the ground. Said hands then unfold to reveal an elderly man with glowing red eyes and in gold & red clothing emerging from it.

"You see it now, Raiden. Your legacy is one of falsehood. You poison people's minds with lies of hope and peace, illusions from a foolish dream." Shinnok taunts as they glares hatefully at him. "And what do you offer? The same you did millennia ago, when you betrayed Cetrion & the other Elder Gods and attacked Earthrealm! We stopped you then, imprisoned you in the Netherrealm! We will do so again!" Raiden exclaims.

"And they now have help from beyond the realms. We'll never surrender or be defeated by you!" Oscar adds on as the others prepare to fight Shinnok if need be.

The Fallen Elder Gods says nothing about this as he creates a cloud of black smoke. This acts as cover for Quan Chi, Revenant Liu Kang, Revenant Kung Lao and some demons to charge at the heroes.

Liu Kang, Kung Lao & their Revenant clashed, with the real heroes emerging on top. Raiden took on Quan Chi. He lands a few strikes and a kick, sending the sorcerer back. Quan Chi then surprised him with a green skull attached to a snake skeleton. The skull bit Raiden and coiled around him. This gave Quan Chi the window to knock him down, but Oscar surprised him with a punch to the face.

The demons were effortlessly defeated as they regroup and prepare to fight Shinnok. He sends a dark blast at them with his amulet, but Oscar uses the amulet Cetrion gave him and counters with his own blast. The two attacks collided with each other as it created a reaction that sends them all flying back.

(SCENE CHANGE: JINSEI CHAMBER)

The heroes recovered from the blast as Shinnok enters the Jinsei Chamber. "As long as we stand, we'll not let you corrupt the Jinsei!" Oscar exclaims as he and the others prepare to fight against Shinnok.

However, before anyone could react, Shinnok got knocked down by Johnny Cage. "Oh, sorry ma'am. Didn't see you there." He taunts as Shinnok gets back up & is angry. "Miserable wretch! Insignificant speck of feculent scum! How dare you!" He yells out in anger as he was about to blast them with his magic when Fujin used his wind to knock Shinnok off course.

With Shinnok distracted, Raiden makes a rush for the amulet. But Shinnok recovers quickly and blasted Raiden. Sonya opens fire on Shinnok with an assault rifle, but he blocks the bullets with red energy.

Sonya tossed the gun aside as she cracks her knuckles. "You guys ready?" She asks. "As always." Johnny Cage answered as he and the others rushed Shinnok.

He easily blocks and dodges several of their attacks as he starts taking down fighters one after the other. Fujin & Stain rushed for the amulet, but Shinnok stopped them and the others by conjuring skeleton hands to hold them at bay. He then levitates Johnny Cage into the air threw him across the chamber.

Sonya and Oscar attempts to make a break for the amulet, but Shinnok stopped them with a blast of magic. He started torturing her by blasting her with magic. "She will be the first to join me, either as a warrior or as a stress reliever for my demons. This fate will await my sister, Cetrion." He says with a smirk as he prepares to kill Sonya.

"No!" Johnny Cage exclaims in fear as he rushed towards Sonya while glowing green. "You stay the hell away from them." Oscar growls as he joins Johnny Cage.

When Johnny Cage got in between Sonya & Shinnok, his green energy completely neutralizes the blast by absorbing it, shocking Sonya, Shinnok & Oscar. "Don't know what happened, but we don't know this: you don't even THINK of hurting them." Johnny Cage says as Oscar joins his side and battles Shinnok.

The combine powers of Johnny Cage and Oscar were enough to defeat Shinnok.

But Shinnok wasn't ready to give up. He got back up and was ready to fight again when Raiden, who recovered from the blast earlier, calls out to them. "Johnny Cage! Oscar Luonto! The Amulet!" He exclaims as the two looked down to see the Amulet by their feet.

Johnny Cage & Oscar gave Shinnok a smug smirk as they flick the Amulet backwards. Raiden caught the Amulet. "No!" Shinnok exclaims as he attempts to use his powers, but Raiden uses the Amulet against Shinnok.

It cancels Shinnok's blast as it absorbed the Elder God into the Amulet. "Enjoy the new digs, gramps." Johnny Cage says as he rushed to Sonya's aid. "Sonya! Say something." Johnny Cage says in concern as she starts regaining consciousness.

"Johnny? Did we?" Sonya asks as Johnny Cage nods his head in confirmation. "Yeah. We got him." He says as Raiden joins them. "Stay here. The Jinsei's properties will heal Sonya Blade in short order." Raiden says as the others joined them.

"Quan Chi and the Revenants are gone. A surge of power overwhelmed my senses." Kenshi says. "Don't worry about it, Kenshi. We'll get another chance at them." Fujin says as Raiden nods in agreement.

"Indeed, for we've netted a bigger prize this day." Raiden says as he shows them the Amulet. "The Amulet? And is he?" Jax asks. "Yep, caught Ol' Fishface himself." Johnny Cage says.

"Cetrion and the others must know what to do with the Amulet. Seek their counsel." Fujin says. "I say throw it in the Sea of Blood and be dons with it." Sindel says.

"It cannot be destroyed, Queen Sindel. No one can." Raiden says. "We don't need to destroy it. Just make it inaccessible to all." Sindel says as Raiden thought about it.

Kenshi approaches Johnny Cage, who has a smile on his face. "The war is not over. Quan Chi has escaped and he has a group of evil copies of some of our best fighters. Why are you smiling?" Kenshi asks as Johnny Cage looks down to Sonya and back to Kenshi. "She called me Johnny." He says with a smile.

(Here's chapter 14 done. Sorry for the length, I'm trying to incorporate battle Choreography into the story. But I might just make it only for the quick time event scenes. I don't know 100% so help me out a bit, give me answers and ideas and whatnot. Also, I tried to give the Revenants looks that combined their MKX & MK11 designs, while adding my own to some. Next chapter will possibly be a short chapter telling us what happened throughout the years, not sure if I should include scenes from the comics because I never actually read any of them. So yeah, look forward to that.)
