Nerdy - Good Afternoon!

First of all congratulations for winning first position in the Morpankh Awards.

Anjali: Thank you.

Nerdy: So ready for the interview?

Anjali: Okay.

Nerdy: So my first question, well more like a request is to tell our readers something about yourself. What do you perceive you are?

Anjali: The way you framed it is funny. I'm just an amateur trying to learn.

Nerdy: Oh pardon me for that XD but yes your down to earth nature is clearly visible with your answer.

Next question is regarding writing. While writing what problems did you face?

Anjali: The most common problem I face is laziness. I can't write only when I'm exhausted or lazy.

Nerdy: Oh, a trouble indeed. I was going through your book and the first thing I noticed was that your book is a Wattpad featured story, congrats. What would you like to recommend aspiring writers while writing a story?

Anjali: Thank you. Don't just write a book, edit it. I see a lot of people don't like to edit, and I can understand why, it's very important though.

Nerdy: Hmmm editing does help in improving grammatical mistakes. Have you ever faced trouble dealing with grammatical errors or perhaps describing certain scenes?

Anjali: My grammar skills are not that good. I always make mistakes. But I have improved a lot. World building is my favourite thing about writing so even if I'm having trouble while describing something it never bothers me. Between grammar and descriptions, I would say grammar troubles me more.

Nerdy: The title Empress of Doom is indeed an intriguing title for the book. What exactly does this title mean?

Anjali: I thought it was pretty self explanatory. Maybe it's not. I gave the title to the lead, Enavee. Even though she is the hero of the story, she becomes the cause of mass destruction. So, that's why The Empress of Doom.

Nerdy: Hmm anti hero as described in the story I suppose. When thinking of the main character of your story, how would you describe her?

Sorry for these obvious questions but these are necessary to make readers familiar with your book.

Anjali: It's okay. I think it's a good question.

I would say Enavee is what happens when someone powerless or mortal in this case gets a lot of power overnight. It will corrupt them. She's basically a weak girl who became the strongest in a blink of an eye so she's bound to be a little evil.

Nerdy: Balancing evil and goodness in a character is hard, what approach do you think a person should have while building a grey character?

Anjali: Keep it real. Don't take away the humanity of the character, even if it's in a fantasy world. Think how a normal human or you would react in a situation. Give your characters flaws. Don't make them too morally high people that do not exist.

Nerdy: You mean making things relatable, this is indeed one of the key components a character should have. Talking about character, did you ever feel that your main character is eclipsing the presence of other characters due to her powers?

Anjali: No. Not at all. It was actually the opposite. Because Enavee is so powerful, I thought that readers might find it hard to sympathize with her. And they might end up liking the side characters more than the lead. But thankfully that didn't happen.

Nerdy: Great for the book I must say. Apart from writing fantasy and world building genres, what other genres would you ever want to deal with or would you like to stay in your comfort zone forever?

Anjali: I always try to get out of my comfort zone. I start small and then I go big. I have written one shots for various Wattpad prompts, in general fiction, romance and contemporary lit. But none of them won, as oppose to other one shots which had a little fantasy element to it. Clearly, I'm not good in other genres. Fantasy will always be my favourite, but I'm always willing to learn new things so I won't say no to trying other genres.

Nerdy: I am sure you would be able to improve in those sectors. Practice helps so good luck and keep trying new things. Now enough of these formal parts our next section is a bit informal one which involves a game. I would give you two options and you would have to choose one and state the reason why. Also there would be few quick questions related to the choice. Are you ready?

Anjali: Sounds interesting. I'm excited!

Nerdy: So this is my common first question: Reading or writing?

Anjali: Really tough. Writing. I get to build my own world. And while reading I always think I would have done this or that. When I'm writing, I'm in control of what happens.

Nerdy: Oh nice. While writing do you ever find yourself lacking ideas or with too many ideas?

Anjali: Lacking maximum times.

Nerdy: Hmm I know you could figure that out after glancing through your book. Next choice: wattpad or goodreads?

Anjali: Oh my, this question might get me in trouble. Wattpad.

Nerdy: Then let's reduce the difficulty with the next choice. Music or literature?

Anjali: It's tougher! Music nowadays is thrash, so literature. But if we were to go ten years back music.

Nerdy: Agreed recent songs are not par to the old ones. Do you have any favorite song that you could listen to anytime, anywhere?

Anjali: There are so many. I can't choose one. But if I had to choose from recent ones I would say any Arijit Singh song.

Nerdy: Arijit singh is just...I think I would start fangirling over him so let's change the topic asap. Netflix or Amazon prime?

Anjali: Amazon prime.

Nerdy: Any favourite show to binge on?

Anjali: Right now none, but I'm a huge Marvel fan so as soon as they release Loki I'm going to hop on it.

Nerdy: Next choice: Tom Hiddleston or Ryan Reynolds?

Anjali: Tom Hiddleston any day.

Nerdy: Oh Deadpool fans are hurt but I think they will survive. Which of Tom's movies is your favorite?

Anjali: I love Deadpool movie more than Thor. I would say, I enjoyed Thor Ragnarok out of all the movies I've seen.

Nerdy: That was the best movie of the Thor franchise. Apart from Marvel do you follow any other Fandom?

Anjali: DC. But I like Marvel better.

Nerdy: Last choice: intuition or facts?

Anjali: Facts.

Nerdy: Practical person, I see. So with this we would end our interview. Do you have any message that you want to transfer to your readers?

Anjali: I don't want fake praises. Please give me your honest opinion. I really need it.

Nerdy: Thank you Anjali for your response. All the best for your future projects and may success be the only thing you encounter in life.
