....

Siya : Today we have an amazing writer who won First place in Historical Fiction in the Morpankh Awards 2nd Edition hosted by the Kuru Family. _Historywriter_. This wonderful writer goes by the name Divyansh.

Let me tell you his wonderful book Karna's Realization is one of the best fictional stories I have read so far even before he entered it into the awards! Today I am honored to have an interview with the author of my favorite mahabharat related book!

Siya: Welcome to this interview Divyansh and Many Many Congratulations on winning the well deserved award. I am so excited to ask you all about yourself and the book.

Divyansh : Thank you! I am glad to be here.

Siya : First I wanted to start with asking about some things about yourself. You can skip or simply not answer the questions you are uncomfortable with or don't want to.

Regarding the deep knowledge you have about mahabharat, I would like to know about how you attain such knowledge? Serials, books etc...

Divyansh: Actually I really liked our Indian Mythology and in my school days there used to be a subject on mythology and in college also we have a mythology subject that is peace. Yes, I have watched many serials and read many books on mythology like Raahmirathi, Mritunjay, KMG, The Role of dice and the rise of kali, Vanaras, Asuras- the forgotten tale, Unfallen Pandavas and many more.

More to add, my family is also very keen on mythology.

Siya: Wow! That's a wonderful collection of books that you have read. I see you are a great reader too! Some of the books I have heard like The Role of dice and the rise of kali.

I want to know about your favorite mahabharat character. Mine are Karna and Krishna.

Divyansh: My favorite character in mahabharata are none but I like karna. I see the world as grey and for me, in mahabharat every character made some mistakes.

In Mahabharat every character was important. If shakuni wouldn't be there, the mahabharata would not have happened. Same with Shikhandini and many more.

Siya : You are right. Every character in mahabharata made many mistakes. They were after all just humans like us! I like the way you see things and put your point.

I would like to know what other books and genres you like to read or write apart from historical fiction?

Divyansh: Apart from mythology, I like the books by J.K Rowling. Then I have an interest in World War. I really love the book - The man in the high Castle by Philipe kindred for his novel. I really loved that book.

Siya : Wow. I have not read that book yet, but I will try it when I am free for sure.

Knowing about the story and your knowledge about Indian culture and mythology,I think you are an Indian. If so, which state do you reside in? What are the specialities and culture about it?

Divyansh: Yes, I am an Indian. I am from Rajasthan, but currently I am living in Ahmedabad. Both Gujarat and Rajasthan hold special places in my heart. I really love the food of these two states. The culture of both Gujarat and Rajasthan are so vibrant. The Garba of Gujarat is one of my favorites.

And Rajasthan is my birth place. Rajasthan is the state of Royals. Rajasthan is not about desert. People start to think about Dal batti churma and they end there.

But in Rajasthan we make a variety of dishes. In Jodhpur we make Raagulla and Gulag Jamming ki Sabri. The kalbeliya form of Rajasthan is very unique. The lakes of Udaipur add a different touch to the beauty of Rajasthan.

Siya: No way! Really! You also live in Ahmedabad? I live there too! Such a beautiful coincidence. And ofcourse a huge fan of Garba. I have visited Udaipur once and it was really beautiful! And I would love to try different varieties of food!

Now I would like to ask some questions about your book.

The book is a stunning piece of work. How did you come up with the idea and plot that if karna would realize certain things and do it the right way, the result of mahabharata would be totally different?

Divyansh: Actually, in lockdown I was watching the episode where karna was cursed. At that time my sister immediately asked," Bhaiya, Agar karna sach bolta toh kya hot? "(Brother, If karna would have spoken the truth what would have happened?) . And then my brain started to ponder on various things, but then my college started and I got busy with my studies. But during lockdown my friend joined wattpad and told me to join it. And when I joined the platform, I just gave it a try and that's how I wrote Karna's Realization.

Siya : That's great! Actually your sister's question is valid. If it would have worked that way then definitely the outcome would have been a lot more different!

Now, I would like to say that I loved to read your book because of the small scenes that described the deep bond between brothers. Most people see duryodhana as evil. But in your book you portrayed his emotions and made us realize that no one is evil by birth. And I sincerely loved the bond pandavas and duryodhana created as the story progressed due to one reason karna. How did you come up with something as unique as this?

Divyansh: Actually, during 2015 I read a book Ajaya- The roll of dice and Ajaya- The rise of Kali by Anand Neelkanth sir. The book tells us the Mahabharata from Duryodhana's side and after reading that book, I realized that in the Mahabharata every character was grey.

But many people just don't think about him and his point of view.

And during lockdown, I got an idea what if kauravas and pandavas were good friends and when I started drafting the story, I realized that it is necessary to show different shades of different people and I strongly believe that no one is evil.

This is how I got an idea of reuniting kauravas and pandavas.

Siya : Incredible! Your belief is astounding and I stand by it that no one is evil. And the idea of yours is truely inspiring and unique. There are very few people with this much amazing thinking as yours! And I truly admire you for that!

Now lastly, I would like to ask; The story is deeply written with words describing the surroundings in such a way that readers can easily imagine what the author wants to portray. How did you become this good in your writing and description skills?

Divyansh: The writing skills, I really don't know. Maybe because of my school and my English tuition teacher who taught me for seven years. She taught me to write English.

Second thing,I truly like Sudha Murthy ma'am's books. Her books are very simple and truly have deep meaning.

I have watched her interview with Dr.Shashi Tharoor. In that interview she said, " In India people like simple English because many people don't know hi-fi English. In India many people read books while doing some work, so if we use hard language they may not understand and if we use hard words, it sometimes breaks the flow of a reader as maybe the reader will use a dictionary to find out the meaning of the words."

Siya: Absolutely well said by Sudha Murthy mam! And of course it is a great role of our initial schooling and teachers to shape our knowledge regarding languages.

This was a beautiful interview and Thank you for your time.

Once again many many congratulations by me and on behalf of the Kuru Family!

Hope you have a bright future ahead.

Divyansh: Thank you! It was a great experience.
