I GAVE A TALK

OMG. So a few weeks ago I volunteered to give a talk as a joke, but they took me seriously, and I  legit stayed up till 4am this morning writing my talk last  minute because I forgot, and everyone loved it apparently, but I  thought it was really bad...... I'm going to put my talk below, and you guys can feel free to comment and tell me what I need to work on  with it.

Topic: Prophets and Modern Revelation

Date: October 14th (today)

The topic I was given was Prophets and Modern Revelation.

The first presidency and quorum of the twelve are commissioned by god and sustained... as prophets, seers, and revelators.

In  Ezekiel 3 verses 16-17, it states: 16)And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying. 17) Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

Ezekiel was commanded by God to warn the wicked that they shall surely die if they do not turn away from the wicked path they  were following and that they would die from their own iniquity if they chose not to hearken unto the words of the Lord, but if they chose to listen to God, they would be saved and have delivered their souls unto him.

Amos 3 verse 7 says: 7) Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

What I take from this scripture is that the Lord will reveal things in his own time, when he feels that we are ready to receive it.

This is an excerpt from the talk 'Prophets, Seers, and Revelators' given by Elder Jefferey R. Holland in October of 2004.

"In order to establish a church that would continue under His direction even after He was taken from the earth,  Jesus "went into a mountain to  pray and was there all night, praying to God."

When day came about, he called up his disciples and from them, he chose twelve to be the Apostles.

Afterwards, Paul would go on to teach that the savior, knowing the inevitability of His death, had done this to give the church a "foundation of Apostles and Prophets." These brethren and the other officers of the church would go on to serve under the direction of the resurrected Christ.

These  are excerpts from the talk 'The Prophet of God' by Elder Neil L. Anderson in conference of May 2018

A prophet does not stand between you and the savior. Rather, he stand beside you and points the way to the savior.

Anchoring our souls to the Lord Jesus Christ requires listening to those He sends. Following a prophet in a world of commotion is like being wrapped in a soothing, warm blanket.

A prophet is a watchman on the tower, protecting us from spiritual dangers we may not see.

And I bear with you my testimony that the church is true and that God calls upon the prophets to serve as our watchmen. Amen

its bad I know..
