Starbucks
I think I hate kiwi star fruit refreshers. With lemonade of course (I'm no heathen).
Every weekend I stride into Barnes and Nobles with T Minus twenty minutes before my shift starts and take the escalator up to the Starbucks inside the bookstore.
I know perfectly well that I could just take the stairs outside the store to go straight into the cafe, but then what excuse do I have to see what new releases are being displayed?
I take my time crossing the threshold from bookstore to cafe, toying with the idea of what I might order.
Maybe today I'll try a frappe or even that pumpkin spice I hear so much about. I get in line and the person in front of me orders something with extra caramel, it sounds tasty.
By the time it's my turn the barista with glasses and short curly hair glances up at me and greets me.
This is my chance to change it up, I take a breathe, quickly scan the menu and say
"Uhm, I'll have a kiwi star fruit refresher with lemonade. Grande."
It's $4.59, i sit on the second seat beside the bookshelves sipping quietly on my drink as I skim through a book that I'll never actually buy.
Frick, I'm late to work.
