This chapter might be mainly dialogue, so sorry if it isn't as exciting as the other chapters, but this is an important chapter, I assure you that!

Now, on with the tale of (y/n) and her love life with L!...... Damm it, I'm not writing an L x reader story T_T But just so you know, this story will have multiple endings, in which the reader can choose which character they want to side with and *sighs* even Light. So you might not end up with L if you don't want to :)

Now, on with the actual tale of (y/n) and how much of an weird, obsessive fangirl she is :D

I have homework and for once, I'm glad.

I shudder to even think of a sentence like that, but it's true, I need it. Light's going to help Sayu with her homework soon and I've already asked Light at school today if I could come round so he could help me. He seemed hesitant, but accepted. Maybe I can snoop around a bit. Now, the police force will be talking to L at their headquarters and there wouldn't be anymore broadcasts any time soon, which was a shame.

I'd actually been talking to the Yagamis a lot recently. I often met Sachiko and Soichiro outside the house, they were actually decent people, kind people. I was quite friendly with Sayu too, she looked up to me greatly, considering that I was only a little bit older than her. I even escorted her to meet her friends once, shows how much Sachiko and Soichiro trust me after knowing me for only a few weeks.

Such a shame they had a murderer for a son

I was standing outside the Yagami household, wearing several layers of jackets to repel the cold weather, waiting for someone to answer the door I just knocked on. Sachiko opened it, that's right, Soichiro was at the police station, Sayu was probably in her room and Light was most likely killing people in his room. Sachiko smiled.

"Ah, (y/n), so nice to see you! Did you come here for Light?"

"Yes actually, we arranged a study date" Sachiko chuckled. Wait, did she think I meant a romantic date? NO, NO, NO! I didn't mean it like that! Also, ew, why would I like Light?

"Wait, no, I meant date as in time, not-"

"It's ok dear, I understand. He probably likes you too. I imagine that a sweet, young lady like you wouldn't have any kind of trouble finding a boyfriend!" She smiled again and invited me inside. I complied and took my coat off.

"Thank you ma'am, but I'm not interested in a relationship at the moment." She took my coat from me and hung it on a coat hook.

"Ok then, but remember, he's always here if you change your mind and we already consider you as one of the family." That's nice, but I'm only interested in black haired, sugar loving, slouching, detective, pandas! "Light" She called. "(Y/n)'s here to see you, come downstairs." Light came down to the hall and smiled at me.

"Oh, hey (y/n), thanks for coming over! Shall we start on our homework now?"

"Yeah, sure, I'd love to!" His mother smiled and headed out of the room towards the kitchen.

"Call me if you two need anything." She said as she left. We headed upstairs into his room and I took off my other jacket I had on.

"So (y/n), what have you got? I've already finished my maths and history homework, what about you?"

"I only had maths this week, but I haven't started it! Could I have help with that?" He nodded and sat at his desk, waiting for me to get my homework out of my bag. Out of the corner of my eye. He tensed, fists clenched, eyes widened. What was up this him? Then it hit me:

Ryuk just told him that others could see him if they touched the Death Note

I held back a grin and brought out my homework, putting it on the desk that contained the killer notebook and started to work on it with Light. It was pretty simple and I was sure I'd done it before, back in 2016. We had worked for about 10 minutes when a knock came at the door. It was Sayu, I was sure of it.

"One minute (y/n)." Light stood up and opened the door. It was Sayu and she was asking Light for help on her homework. She rushed in with some basic fractions work.

We helpd her as best as we could (Light did most of the work) and got about halfway through her work until the front door opening and closing drew Sayu's attention away from her work.

"Hey, dad's home!" She stood up and went to exit Light's room.

"What about the rest of the questions? (Y/n) and I aren't going to do them for you, you know."

"I'll do them after dinner!" She left the room and I heard her footsteps lead downstairs as she greeted her father. Light sighed and moved Sayu's work to the side of his desk and stood.

"I should probably go down and welcome him back. Dinner's probably going to be ready soon, do you wanna stay and eat here (y/n)?" I smiled at him

"Sure! I'd love to! But wouldn't your parents mind?"

"I don't think so, there's always leftover dinner anyway. No point in letting good food go to waste." We walked downstairs and greeted Soichiro.

"Welcome back dad, you look tired." Wow, great support Light, I can do better.

"Hi Mr Yagami, how are you?" See, I'm nicer than Light and Soichiro's not even my dad. He smiled at me while putting away hs coat

"Hello (y/n), thank you, I'm fine, just a little worn out from work." Aw, I should save him the trouble and just tell him it's his son he's after.

*Miniature timeskip, brought to you by TAKING A POTATO CHIP AND EATING IT!!!*

Dinner was served shortly after Soichiro arrived and we dug in. I felt a little bit awkward since I didn't really know what to say to them. I just waited for one of them to talk. Soichiro started to talk to Light.

"Light, how are your studies going?"

"Oh, they're okay." Sayu shook her head

"Top of the class, that's my big brother for you!" I swallowed my food and smiled.

"It's true, he's always working hard in the classes I share with him. He even has time to tutor me!" Sachiko smiled at me.

"How about you (y/n)? How are your grades? Is Light's tutoring working?"

"Yep! My grades were rather average, but Light's helping me improve." Sachiko chuckled, but stopped just as she lifted her food to her mouth.

"I forgot to mention, do your parents know you're here (y/n)? I feel bad for not checking first." I froze.

Crap, did I even have any parents in this world? I lived by myself in the house next door and there aren't any signs of parents. What did I expect? I literally appeared here, I wasn't born, I was hit by a car and magically transported into a world I know pretty much everything about already... Duh. No signs of parents here, I guess the answer is clear, but I have to expand on my answer to make it believable! Do a Naruto! Believe it!

"Oh, um, my parents died a while ago, in an accident while I was still in England. That's why I came to Japan, to start over and forget what happened." I looked down at my lap for effect.

*(A/N), IT'S A STORY, NOT BASED ON ANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OF MINE, SO I WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING YOU GUYS HAVE GONE THROUGH! GOMEN! DOMO! SORRY IN OTHER JAPANESE WAYS!*

The Yagamis paused, not expecting such an answer. Sachiko turned bright red.

"(Y/n), I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to bring something like that up! I should've been more considerate!" I smiled at the flustered woman.

"It's fine, really. I can't change what happened, there's no way you could've known. Don't fret about it, please." She calmed and returned my smile nervously.

...

...

...

More awkward silence followed as we continued eating our food, until Soichiro cleared his throat. Oh yeah, he was going to tell them about his current case is stressing him a little. iI've seen it already, it's boring! I pushed my empty bowl slightly forward and leaned back in my chair.

"Ah, I'm full! Couldn't eat another bite if I tried! This was delicious Mrs Yagami, I should come round more often!" I stood. "I'll be off then, I stayed later then I intended. I've got the other homework questions nailed, so I'll just grab my things from upstairs and use the restroom if any of you don't need to first." They all didn't need to, so I went up the stairs.

I went into Light's room first and yawned, stretching my arms above my head. What an uneventful day, no progress whatsoever! I crouched to put my homework into my bag and stuffed my jacket into it too. I glanced back at the desk while I stood and froze.

The death note was left unguarded in that desk. It was in my reach.

Light hadn't done that fake drawer thingy yet, he'd do that in a couple days. It was there and Light was oblivious to the fact that I knew it was there.

What to do?

Take it? Write Light's name? No, those two options would only leave me as the obvious culprit. But touching it would benefit me. I would be able to see and communicate with Ryuk! I could get it anytime anyway, I knew where it would be.

My bag dropped out of my hand as I slowly walked over to the desk and pulled open the drawer.

It was there.

The notebook of death, the book that killed millions.

I reached out and touched the death note.

I knew that Ryuk was downstairs with Light and I'd be able to see him when I leave, so that'll be fun! I grinned as I went into the bathroom and flushed the toilet to make it seem like I'd just been, slung my bag over my shoulder and walked downstairs to meet the monster...

Ok, this chapter sucked and I apologise!

A SPIDER DROPPED ON MY IPAD AS I WAS TYPING THIS AND I FREAKED OUT! Thing is, I didn't kill it, I blew it off and ran out of the room. So it's still alive and still in my room somewhere T_T I'd keep writing, but I really just wanna find it and not be ambushed by Claude again. I BET THAT'S WHAT THE SPIDER WAS! CLAUDE FAUSTUS FROM BLACK BUTLER, COMING TO GET ME!

Why I don't like Claude:

1. He's the cause of all of Bassy and Ciel's misery in season 2, 2. He's a spider, 3. He doesn't smile, 4. He's mean!, 5. He ships himself with Ciel, instead of SebaCiel, 6. He didn't have any interactions with Grell, so he's irrelevant and Grell is life, 7. I'm not gonna spoil anything, but did you SEE what he did to Alois? He didn't even care about him one bit ;(, 8. He isn't original, he looks like a combination of William and Bassy, he doesn't have any style of his own, so he steals it, 9. His annoying monologues about turning stuff into stuff, 10. Bassy re-built an entire manor in about a minute, it took Claude around 5 to re-decorate a room, Claude's a second rate butler!

The list could go on. I hate spiders and I hate Claude :D
