Part 7: Conflicted Heart Chapter 27

"Knockey knockey." I hear Dei's voice from the other side of the door. I throw on my tshirt and open it with a laugh. I fake a groan and throw in an eye roll for effect. "What do you want now?"
He pulls out a shuriken. "I was thinking we head to the training field and practice like the old days?"
I scrunch my nose. "How about...no."
He flicks my forehead. "Do I hear a quitter?"
I poke my tongue out at him. "Maybe."
He narrows his eyes at me. "Up for an Akatsuki party?"
I sigh. "I don't know Deidara. These past few parties haven't exactly turned out well. And why do we even have to do anything?"
"Ahem." Hidan walks in, clearing his throat. "Am I interrupting something?"
I walk towards him, shaking my head. "He just wanted to hang out." I look at Deidara. "Later?"
He nods. "Of course..."

"I don't understand why we are even having this fight!" I sigh and roll my eyes, placing my hands on my hips.
"Really? You don fucking see a problem with it!" He rolls his eyes also as he exaggerates with hand gestures.
"A problem with what Hidan? Deidara wanting to HANG OUT!" It was intended to be a question but my voice became louder unintentionally.
"You know damn well that's not what I fucking meant!" His voice was raising and his eyes were filled with anger.
"Me and Deidara are FRIENDS Hidan!" I run my hands through my hair exasperatedly.
"Until you're not!" He turns away from me, pacing.
I frown. "What?"
"Damn it Nioki! Can't you at least fucking pretend you understand what the fuck I'm talking about!"
I shake my head. "No! Because I don't!" I rub my temples in annoyance.
"I don't want to worry." His voice finally became calm but the anger in his eyes did not fade.
"Worry? Worry about what Hidan?" I finally sit in an attempt to calm down.
"DEIDARA!" He screams.
I jump to my feet, finally pissed off past my limit. "You have nothing to worry about! I've already told you this! How many fucking times do I have to say it!"
"Until it's true!"
"Thank you Hidan, really. I'm thrilled you trust me." Seething, I walk out the door without another word, slamming it behind me. Two months since me and Deidara had mended our friendship. Things were finally good and Hidan let his worries get in the way? I wanted to scream.
"Hey Nioki."
"I'm fine!"
Kisame frowns. "Well then."

"I'm sorry...but I'm sure this'll all blow over soon. Just give it time."
"Thanks for being such a good friend Dei." I lean my head on his shoulder. "You smell good."
He chuckles. "Hey I brought you something." He reaches next to him and grabs a cupcake. "Red velvet. Just like you like it." He gives me a small wink before taking some icing and wiping it on my nose. "Ah, there's that smile." I stare out at the water as I eat my cupcake when I'm suddenly drenched.
"Deidara! My cupcake!" I laugh as he raises his eyebrows with judgement.
I go to the shore, dragging him into the water with me. "Oh no you don't!" He grabs me by the waist, throwing me over his shoulder.
I bang my fists on his back. "Dei, put me down!"
He laughs. "If you say so." He throws me into the water with a smirk on his face.
I splash water at him. "Asshole."
I make my way to the shore, Deidara not far behind.
As we sit on the blanket, I glare at him while he laughs softly. "Come here; you've still got icing on your nose." I lean forward, a little too much, and fall into his arms. He wipes the icing off my nose and sighs. "Nioki...I really want to kiss you right now."
I felt my heart speed up. 'Traitor.' I think and mentally smack myself. "Dei...don't."
"Would you stop me?" His voice was a whisper.
"I told Hidan he had nothing to worry about."
"Well maybe he should worry." His eyes bore into mine.
"Dei don't say that." I avert my eyes anxiously.
"Would you stop me?"
My breath catches in my throat, leaving me speechless.
I find myself on the ground, Deidara hovering over me; His lips centimeters from mine. I feel my heart stop. I couldn't think straight.
He leans down to my ear, his breaths tickling me. "Hidan has every right to be worried." He chuckles before helping me sit up. "But I won't tell." He says with a smile, that arrogant smile he always has on his face; the one I always want to smack off.
