Part 3: Drifting Apart Chapter 14
Immediately walking into the club, I see a group of clubbers playing spin the bottle and my mind goes back to me and Deidara during the few seconds that completely changed my feelings for him. I shake my head, clearing any thoughts of that night, that kiss, out of my mind. I end up dancing only because Sasori insisted. I sigh after my legs felt like they would collapse and sit down at the bar. I order a water because I didn't want to do or say something crazy about my feelings for Deidara when I was half drunk.
I feel Tobi sit next to me. "Hey Nioki!"
I muster up courage to smile. "Hey Tobi..." I rest my chin on my hand.
"Nioki, what's wrong?" He asks as he gets in my personal bubble that I had put up.
I shake my head monotonously. "Nothing..."
He laughs. "Is this about Deidara?"
I jerk my head up. "What makes you think that?"
He laughs. "Tobi doesn't know, maybe just obvious reasons."
I frown. "What do you mean 'obvious reasons'?"
He shakes his head. "Don't be sad just because he isn't here."
I just sigh as I contemplate how to explain it without giving away how I felt. "It's...not that."
"Deidara-senpai likes you too. So don't be sad, he'll come around."
I laugh. "No, no, no! Me and Deidara...not a chance."
"Why not? Is Deidara-senpai not your type?"
I shake my head. "I-I never said that!"
"Then what is it?" He asks truly concerned.
"You must have confused his feelings for Tukiko with his feelings for me. He doesn't...feel that way about me."
Tobi continues to try to convince me that Deidara actually likes me, but I tune him out and sip my water.
"Nioki, are you listening to Tobi?"
I nod. "Yep." Even though I wasn't.
"Then what did Tobi say?" He asks.
"Um...something about Deidara..." I say distractedly.
He crosses his arms, clearly displeased. "Nioki! You weren't listening to Tobi!"
I look at him. "Look, Tobi, I just really want some time to myself right now."
He sighs. "Fine, Tobi will leave!" He gets up and goes to annoy the next Akatsuki victim.
"Hey babe."
I groan. "Hidan, did you not just hear me send Tobi away?"
He smirks and sits next to me. "Well I am not Tobi and, I just happen to be way less fucking annoying!"
"And so that makes you think I actually want your company?"
"Well honey, it seems as if I'm the only one who wants yours."
I glare. "Did you come here to insult me because a kick ass ninja being insulted while drinking, isn't a good idea. I think I'm better off isolated from everyone before a pissy, platinum haired, conceited bastard gets injured." I give an 'I don't give a fuck, get lost' smile.
He chuckles. "Please, lets all face it. You're not drinking, for starters and second, we all know you aren't capable of injuring me."
I cut my eyes at him. "Hidan, is that supposed to mean something to me? Because if it is, go wait in line with the rest of the bastards who are waiting for me to give a fuck!"
"Seems to me like you're the one in a fucking pissy mood."
I clap hands and gasp sarcastically. "Bravo! You finally figured something out on your own! How do you feel now that you've grown into your big boy panties?"
"Can we stop fucking fighting for one second?"
I roll my eyes. "I don't know...do you have a smart ass comment to make!"
Hidan smirks at me. "Babe, you know I always have a smart ass comment for anything and everything." I roll my eyes. "But," he states dramatically, "if it means we get along, I will hold it back."
I almost burst into laughter but considered it. If he was holding back his comments for our 'friendship', then I'd just have to test him. "You'd hold back your snoody comments...for me?"
"For our friendship. There's a difference, but yes."
I shake my head on disbelief. "I don't believe it for a second. You and your mouth have a reputation for not staying shut and saying the wrong thing when it most obviously wasn't needed."
He frowns at me. "Nioki, I was fucking being serious!"
"I was too! Now, if you want to persuade me even the slightest that you are, air quote, serious about the negotiation, prove it."
"How the hell do I do that!"
I shrug. "Figure it out, its not my problem!"
"Well, you happen to be involved."
"And....that concerns me how? If you want us to be 'friends', then you will figure it out, if you can that is. But we all know you make Kakuzu do all your thinking for you, so...good luck. Find me when you have it solved."
He huffs and walks away, mumbling bitch under his breath.
I roll my eyes. "Loser!" I mumble.
