Chapter Four

The following morning at the office was awkward, to say the least. Sarah and Alissa tried to keep to themselves, but whenever Gerald or Samantha walked by their team's cubicle, they couldn't help but snicker and wonder if the two of them had fucked yet today.

During lunch, most of the office were gathered gossiping. Their staff lunch room was pretty big, with one wall facing the exterior of the building, which held floor-to-ceiling windows showing the white and gray landscape of Denver, Colorado. The brooding mountains that enveloped the valley of Denver could be seen from Elixir's Marketing Firm easily.

One of the things Alissa loved about Denver was that it didn't remind her too much of home, but still vaguely did with the mountains and wintry blizzards. Alissa had grown up in the heart of New York, so she welcomed the snow, but she never lived in such a grand city before Denver. She loved the tall buildings and busy streets. She loved that she could visit somewhere new every day and even meet someone new every day, and she loved the nightlife. Man, did she love the nightlife.

It felt like a different experience almost every single time. She had connected with her marketing team that way. She still remembered that night. It was the end of her first week with the firm, and they had just booked a huge client. To celebrate, they all went out to DISK, a favorite of Sarah and Hwan Rho's. Sarah was around Alissa's age, at just twenty-five, but Hwan was in his early thirties.

The three of them were a team in the office. Alissa was the team's marketing coordinator, Sarah was the team's marketing associate, and Hwan was the team's marketing executive. There were ten teams at Elixir's Marketing Firm, and each team was dedicated to different clients and campaigns.

After around one in the morning hit, they left and headed over to Hwan's place. Sure, they were a bit wasted, but they took an Uber back, so it wasn't a problem. That was the first time Alissa had been in a threesome.

It was odd to not only screw your coworkers in the first week of meeting them but what was even odder was how close they grew as friends afterward. Alissa could confidently say that Sarah and Hwan were her closest friends in this city. With her family hundreds of miles away and her college roommates now all over the country, Sarah and Hwan were her lifelines.

"I heard from Liberty that Gerald and Samantha were the first two in the office this morning." Hwan leaned in closer to her and Sarah across the black plastic table, his thick eyebrows moving up and down.

For making a rash decision, Hwan was anything but average. With raven hair, thin, angular brown eyes, abs, and an ass a Greek god would be jealous of, it was a wonder Hwan was still single. He blamed it on his fear of commitment. While Hwan's body still made guest appearances in her dreams every now and then, she decided to keep their friendship simply platonic and professional, especially since he was technically her superior.

The same went for Sarah. Sarah had brilliant blue eyes, high cheekbones, and the cutest wavy blonde bob, but if it hadn't been for the alcohol speaking that night, Alissa would have never been with Sarah. She didn't want to fuck things up in the workplace. However, that didn't seem to be a problem for Gerald and Samantha.

She chuckled.

Sarah shook her head, "They're complete morons. What do they think, they can just get away with it?"

Hwan shrugged, "I don't know, but what I do know is you keep the fucking at home and the working at work."

They all nodded as they finished up their lunches. Alissa checked the time on her silver watch.

"Crap, Goldz are going to be here soon and I still need to set up the meeting room."

"What meeting room are they in, again?" Sarah asked.

The three of them had been working with Goldz since Alissa's first day on the job. Goldz were coming out with a new line of sneakers and looked to Elixir to plan their marketing campaign.

"Meeting room two," Hwan said before quickly cleaning up his turkey sandwich wrappings and downing the last bit of his iced tea.

Alissa and Sarah followed suit. Sarah headed towards her cubicle to grab the copies of their campaign presentation from her desk while Alissa head over the meeting room to set up the computer and projector. Hwan came back from fixing his hair in the men's bathroom and took a seat at the table as Alissa and Sarah finished up in the meeting room.

Meeting room two was Hwan's favorite. He said it gave good luck because he nailed his first campaign in this room years ago. Sarah joked it had good feng shui. There were floor-to-ceiling windows on the exterior wall with gray and royal purple accents. The glass table in the center was long and sat 11 clear plastic chairs.

Once everything was set up, it was just about 1:30 in the afternoon. The sun attempted to shine through the gray clouds outside the windows, but it wasn't bright enough to have to shut the blinds.

Liberty, the firm's receptionist entered with three executives from Goldz behind her. Liberty had an infectious smile. She made for a great receptionist, and every time she saw her, it made Alissa smile.

"Welcome, Lisa, Greg, and Victoria. Please, take a seat. How're you?" Sarah greeted them.

Even though Hwan was the marketing executive of their team, Sarah was usually the one who took charge. Sarah was one dedicated woman. Alissa had a feeling she'd be up for a promotion soon and would be managing her own team.

Goldz designer, Lisa, was tall for a woman, and even taller with four-inch black heels, which made her legs dressed in a black pantsuit look even longer. She was intimidating to those who didn't know her, but after working with her for months, Alissa felt comfortable around her. Lisa was just a very passionate woman who liked things her way. She understood that. This was her brand.

Greg and Victoria were investors in Goldz brand, but their opinions mattered just as much because it was their money at the end of the day that was going in her team's pockets.

"Wonderful. I'm excited to see what your team has concocted," Lisa said.

Greg and Victoria stayed silent as they all sat down.

"That's great to hear," Hwan said, then turned his attention to Alissa, who was in front of the projector at the end of the table.

"Let's begin," Alissa said confidently.
