Y/n looked at her phone, another unknown number. She doesn't want to pick up the call because she thought it's Taehyung. She blocked him but he has been calling her from different numbers.
She had so much going in her head. She doesn't want to deal with this now. She decided to pick up the call, she was about to scold. She stopped when she heard an unknown voice.
~"Is this Miss Y/n?" The person on the other side asked.
"Yes, who is this?"
~"You applied for the job," he exclaimed.
She applied to many companies after she decided to leave her job. She replied to the question they asked on the call, she can't say no even when it's a small company, at this point she just wants to earn and pay off the debt.
Y/n decide to visit the company. She had applied for a reporter position at the company, and was expecting a standard interview. But instead, she was greeted by a friendly receptionist who led her to a spacious office with a stunning view of the city.
"Welcome, Y/n! This will be your new office," the receptionist said with a smile.
Y/n's eyes widened in surprise. "I...I applied for a reporter position," she stammered.
"Yes but boss said-"
Y/n rolled her fist and cut the receptionist's words, "Is your boss Jeon Jungkook?"
She would not be surprised if Jungkook started this company for her. He has been extremely controlling. She doesn't know how suddenly everything changed.
"No, ma'am."
Just then, a tall figure emerged from the doorway. He had a kind face and a warm smile. The man was in his late 50's. Y/n felt familiar to the face, as if she knew this man or had seen him before. She couldn't tell the reason why.
"Ah, Miss Hwang! It's an absolute pleasure to meet you," he said, extending a hand. "I'm the owner of the company."
Suddenly she remembers him from an article he published against the Jeons. She was suddenly relieved, she didn't land this job because of Jungkook.
Y/n shook his hand, still feeling a bit bewildered. "It's nice to meet you. But I think there's been a mistake. I applied for a reporter position..."
He chuckled and gestured for Y/n to take a seat. "No mistake, I assure you. You see,, I've been following your work,"
He leaned forward, "Y/n, my company is still small in the big ocean. But I believe that with the right leadership, we can make waves. And I think you're the right person to help me achieve that."
Y/n's mind was racing. Leadership? What was he talking about?
Y/n felt a voice inside her screaming, "Take it! This is the opportunity you've been waiting for!" But another part of her was hesitant, unsure if she was ready for such a big role. Right now she should work herself and pay off the debt and pay the hospital bills, it was not the time for her career. The job pay was decent, she can't say no to it.
He seemed to sense her doubts. Y/n took a deep breath, weighing her options. She thought about all the years she'd spent writing what her bosses told her to, without any real creative freedom. She thought about the debt that had been weighing her down, the financial struggles that had been holding her back.
And then she looked at him, who was watching her with kind, expectant eyes.
"Okay," she said finally, a sense of determination rising up within her. "I'll take it."
____
Taehyung stood outside Y/n's door, house. He had been keeping his distance from her, unsure of how to navigate his feelings. He loved her, but he didn't want to ruin things between them again with his anger.
He doesn't want to repeat his past.
When Y/n opened the door, Taehyung took a deep breath, he will be honest to her and she will understand.
Taehyung's expression turned serious. "I heard about your job. I need to talk to you about it."
Y/n raised an eyebrow, he came here after days to talk about that?
"It's my father's company," Taehyung said, his voice low. "You can't work there."
Y/n's expression turned confused. It makes sense why he looked so familiar now she could see it. "Why not? What does it matter?"
Taehyung's jaw clenched. "I don't like my father. I don't want you working under him."
He hates him, Nothing triggers him more than the mere existence of that man.
Y/n's confusion turned to frustration. "Taehyung, You're not making any sense."
Taehyung took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. "My father...he's not a good person. He left my mom, used her...I don't want you anywhere near him."
"Why does it matter to you? I told you we both are over. You should leave." She said and then tried to turn but he held her hand.
"Just come back and work in my company, You can choose your position, I know you still love me,"
Y/n's expression turned angry. "Taehyung, step out of your bubbles for one second. My life has bigger problems than your family drama. I need this job, and I'm not going to quit just because of your issues with your father."
Taehyung's face fell, but he tried to reason with her. "I'll take care of everything. Your father's bills, your expenses...I'll give you everything you need. You don't have to work there."
Y/n's anger boiled over. "What do you and your cousin think about me huh? I expected it from him but you? How are you this selfish? You think you can just buy me off? I'm not some object you can control. I make my own decisions, and I've decided to keep this job."
"I can indeed control you. And you are calling me selfish? If I was actually selfish you can't imagine what I would have done to you just to keep you near me. But I gave you a choice or else I could actually buy you."
She slapped his face, she wanted to cry so badly. This was really not the Taehyung she fell for.
"What is wrong with you?" She asked. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, he didn't mean it. She hold his shirt firmly, "You are disgusting, you are not just a liar and a manipulator, you are a disgusting man and I will hate you forever." She exclaimed but tears started scrolling down her face while her eyes were red because of the anger.
He held her shoulders, he hold her chin making her look at me, she pushed his hand away from her face, "You don't hate me. I have made a few mistakes but You don't hate me."
She pushed him away. "No, I hate you. You lied to me, you took your brother's side except for doing what was wrong and now you are saying you can buy me, you are a disgusting man. Go away! Fucking go away from my life. My life was better without you."
"Y/n-"
She pushed his chest again, "I said go away, I want my life to be normal again, it was normal before. You have ruined everything, just go away."
"Is this what you want? Yo-u love me." Taehyung's voice broke, she doesn't mean all this right?
"No, I don't love you. Just leave my life."
Leave her life? Does she really want that?
_____
Jungkook's eyes sparkled with amusement as he gazed at the notification on his phone. Y/n had sent him another payment, determined to clear off the loan as quickly as possible.
"Cute," he murmured under his breath, a smile still playing on his lips. He slipped his phone into his pocket.
Just then, he looked up at the man sitting across from him, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Thank you, Uncle. I really appreciate your help."
Taehyung's father smiled back at Jungkook. "It's my pleasure, Jungkook. I'm always happy to help those in need."
Jungkook knew how sensitive Taehyung was about his father.
He was aware that involving Taehyung's father will ruin all the remains of their relationship, and he suspected that Y/n's involvement with the company would only serve to drive a deeper wedge between Taehyung and his father.
He knew that Taehyung's temper was notorious, and he suspected that it wouldn't take much to trigger an explosive reaction.
And this was what happened, Taehyung suddenly left the country after his argument with Y/n.
A slow smile spread across Jungkook's face as he leaned back in his chair. This was going to be interesting.
He was confident, Taehyung can't handle her but onky Jungkook can. He wanted to make her someone who would never leave him.
____
Jungkook stepped out of his car, making his way to Y/n's house. With Taehyung out of the picture, having left Seoul for Jeju, he booked the tickets right after her fight with Y/n. Jungkook felt a sense of relief wash over him. He could finally spend time with Y/n without the risk of running into Taehyung. Or them getting back together.
As he approached the house, he noticed Y/n sitting in the doorway, her head was on her knees. As he walked closer he heard her sobbing, she lift her head, "Taehy-"
She looked up and was surprised to see Jungkook, for a moment she thought it was Taehyung. She quickly wiped her tears. He sat beside her.
"Jungkook, what are you doing here?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"I wanted to see you," Jungkook replied, flashing her a charming smile.
Y/n raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Why are you acting as if you are in love with me? Why are you acting like this?"
Love? He knows it wasn't love. It wasn't obsession either. It was more than obsession...it's a hunger that he can't satiate. It's a need that consumes him. It's a desire that drives him mad with longing for her.
"I want to know too, why am I acting this way." He said. This was not him, Jungkook never chased anyone like this.
"And marriage? Whats the point when you would just go out with other girls." She asked.
"Why? Are you afraid I will?" He asked.
"Any girl would be considering your image, what if you are like your dad?" She exclaimed, what if he is?
"I thought I was, I thought I was like him, and now I think I am like mom." Who loved his father, and she would rather die than seeing him with anyone else. Jungkook said he felt a weird feeling, and a realization hit him. He can't see her with anyone else now. He wasn't like his dad, he was not disloyal or a cheater.
She stared at his face, "It's late, Jungkook. You should go home and sleep."
Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head. "I'm not tired. Besides, I'm starving. Is your mom cooking dinner?"
He didn't let her reply and entered her house, her parents and sisters were home who couldn't say anything to him.
Jungkook was joking around with Yeji and Somi as they chatted in the living room. Y/n went to her room, she didn't want to deal with Jungkook.
As the evening wore on, Yeji and Somi excused themselves in the other room, leaving Jungkook alone with Y/n's father.
Jungkook's face and aura both changed, as he looked at Y/n's father again, "I want to marry her next week,"
Y/n's father leaned in, but his eyes held a hint of seriousness. "I know Y/n doesn't want to marry you, Jungkook. She's told me as much."
Jungkook's expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with a calculating intensity. "That's not relevant, sir. What's relevant is that I want her. And I'm just making things easier for her...and for your family. After all, I paid all of your loan. And willing to do more."
Y/n's father's eyes widened in alarm, but Jungkook continued, his voice dripping with menace. "You see, sir, I have a lot of influence in this city. I want Y/n to think I am your choice, and she will listen to her dad who can die at any moment"
"You can't threaten me." He exclaimed and Jungkook chuckled.
"I can, And if Y/n doesn't agree to marry me. I'm afraid I'll have to take certain...measures. That could ruin your family, sir."
The older man's face paled, and Jungkook could see the fear lurking in his eyes. Jungkook's smile returned, but it was cold and calculating, devoid of any warmth or humor.
"I think we understand each other, sir," Jungkook said, his voice dripping with malice. "Don't we?"
______
Y/n's eyes scanned the formal dining room, her family seated alongside Jungkook's. She was not sure how he convinced her father. Y/n couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
She left and went out, Jungkook followed her. "Does Taehyung know that you want to marry me?
"No, I was waiting for you to tell him." He said. He knows she will not and he knows Taehyung too. She will never tell him, even when things can get easy for her. She will never ask for his help.
"Don't you think it's wrong? I am his ex." She said,
"It was all Lie, I don't consider that a relationship. He replied. His eyes locked on Y/n. "I have something special to share," he said, a small box appearing in his hand.
Y/n's starred as Jungkook opened the box, revealing a stunning diamond ring. "This was my mom's," he said, his voice low and husky.
"Which one? You have a lot of moms." She replied. He looked at her phone.
"Not funny, Y/n." He held her hand, "My mom loved this ring, I want you to have it."
"No," she whispered, trying to pull her hand away. "Why are you giving this to me?"
"Don't think I am in love with you or something, because I don't."
Y/n's face twisted in disgust. "I won't marry a man like you," she spat. "I love you don't."
Jungkook's smile grew wider, his eyes flashing with excitement. "I'm not asking you, Y/n," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "I'm telling you. You will marry me."
Y/n's eyes blazed with defiance. "You'll regret marrying me," she hissed.
Jungkook chuckled, the sound sending shivers down Y/n's spine. "I won't regret it," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You just need to get ready."
Y/n's heart sank, trapped in a nightmare from which she couldn't awaken.
