Chapter Thirty Four - Reunited
Slowly I start to hear a beeping that reminds me of my alarm. I don't remember having an alarm in my cell, surely they're not doing this as an added form of torture.
My eyes flutter open before I quickly shut them from the brightness. After a moment I try again. I'm surprised to see I'm not in the cell but in hospital bed.
Then it all comes crashing back to me like a tonne of bricks. Hearing wolves before Blake letting us out. Patrick and I getting caught before seeing Derek. Oh no... Derek being stabbed before his heart stopped.
I go to cover my mouth as I let out a sob, only I can barely move it. Looking down to see a familiar head of hair on top of my hand. The longer I'm awake, the more of my senses come back. I start to feel those tingles I missed while his vanilla scent wraps around me.
I slip my hand out of his to run my fingers through his hair. After a few minutes he starts to stir before he has looks over to me with wide eyes.
"Mila..." He breathes out before climbing over to me and pulling me to him gently. He's alive. This isn't a dream. And with that realisation, I burst into tears whike hokding him tight.
I don't know how long we stay in each others arms for while we have tears streaming down our cheeks. He held me tightly telling me It's all ok now and kissing my head.
After a while I pull back to just see his face, he was still as handsome as ever. His green eyes shining bright with happiness and his goofy grin playing on his lips. Leaning in slowly, I pressed my lips to his. Savoring the fact that he's alive.
"Hey baby." He chuckles after I pull away reluctantly.
"Hey." I give him a sad smile back. "What happened?" I ask once we had pulled apart.
"Well, you got stabbed with a silver knife..." He tells me, sadness in his voice. "I'm going to get the doctor. He will be better at explaining everything."
He rushes out to find the doctor, returning not long later with someone who introduced himself as Dr. Marve.
The doctor checks me over before asking if I have any questions. I repeat my earlier query and the doctor looks at me with sympathy.
Giving me a small nod he proceeds to explain everything "You suffered extreme injuries during your time away. The injections you got actually severely slowed the healing time as they were given too frequently. The harm your body went through in that time, along with the silver blade that was stabbed here-" he says pointing between my hip and belly button "-has left your body with scars. Some will heal but others wont, I'm sorry."
He looks to Derek whose eyes are black from hearing about me being hurt.
"You has passed out from massive blood loss as well as the severity of your wounds." He takes a deep breathe before he continues.
The grim look on his face scares me though. I don't even realise I grabbed Dereks hand until he squeezes it a bit.
"Mila, you obviously know what harm you went through. Due to your bodies healing being slowed and where the silver knife had stabbed you... We're sorry to say that your chances to be able to conceive are only 50/50. Due to the scarring, if you do get pregnant, we will have to monitor you regularly."
To say Derek was angry at how badly hurt I was is an understatement, but to hear we may not be able to have kids too just tip him over.
He started yelling at the doctor before punching holes in the hospital walls and cursing. I start to block out the chaos as reality of what that bastard has done to my body repeats in my head.
I might not be able to have kids...
After the doctor tells Derek he's going to inform Chris about everything, he leaves us alone.
Derek turns to me and sees the tears flowing down my face. Quickly back by my side, he opens his arms and pulls me to him.
We lay like that for an hour, with me crying and him rubbing my back. Just savoring that we are both alive and back in each others arms.
Suddenly the door bursts open with Chris, Greg and Steve. Big smiles are on their faces at the sight of us.
"Hey Luna! Good to see you're up!" Chris says before giving me a hug. They all greet me with a big hug that makes me so happy to be back.
"The pack has been pretty good but hoping for both of you to recover quickly. We lost a few warriors the night of the attack but we have had a service for them." Chris says with a sad look for his lost members.
He explained everything that has happened since the attack regarding the rogues and hunters, to which Derek explained his dream with the Moon Godess and Blakes visit.
"And the guy Mila was with in the cell is in our cells but in the pack quarters." Chris finishes.
"You left him in a cell?!" I ask shocked to be hearing this. "Why the hell is he there?"
They all give me odd looks and Derek lets a low growl out at my reaction for another male wolf.
"He isn't a pack member and with you and Derek out, I had to make a choice for the safety of the pack." Chris explains cautiously.
"When we leave here, we are going straight to him." I tell Chris with a pointed look. "He helped me and may very well have a mate in our pack. Not to mention I think he's Sams brother." I explain to clear everything up.
"Alright. If he's not a danger than we will sort this out." Derek soothes me once he understands.
We all hung out for a few hours catching up on everything that's been happening. Greg barely left me any room to breath, he was so close to me. It was nice to be around those I love.
My eyes start to droop from feeling so exhausted and everyonw can see. After the boys say goodbye, Derek climbs in bed with me and I fall asleep in his arms.
Finally safe again.
*********
The next day the doctor came in to check over my injuries. He tells me that I can leave tomorrow but I still have to take it easy. My body was still weak and healing is still slowed.
As long as Derek was alive than I couldn't care about anything else. I'm silently devistated about the news we got regarding us conceiving a child. At the moment I can barely look after myself so I'll worry about that bridge when I reach it.
I spend the day in my hospital bed with Derek having a Harry Potter marathon. He made sure I ate everything and even helped me with a shower. In a total none sexual way too.
The doctor said that my recovery has been getting better with less of that mixture in my system. He said they can barely detect any traces of it now so that's good news.
One more good night of sleep and I'm finally out of here.
With that, I drift off into my last night of hospital sleep.
