Chapter Fourteen - Waking Up

I felt like I was in nothing but darkness for an unimaginable amount of time. I had no idea if I was safe or if I had been taken that day.

After what felt like forever, I start to hear voices. They start out hard to understand but I get bits and pieces.

"So sorry...... should have stayed.... bad friend..... forgive me...."

Remembering what happened I could only take a guess that it was Greg, he always tends to beat himself up...

I've spent a lot of this time with tingles on my hand but didn't really know what to make of it while I was out.

I need to wake up....

Every now and then I'd hear another voice, it sounds like Derek and most the time when I hear it I can feel the tingles.

"Please wake up, baby."

"You're safe now."

"I need you."

As hard as I try, I can't seem to wake up and I'm only able to hear snippets of what's being said.

I don't know how long It's been, surely not that long. I hear Derek back again and feel the tingles.

"Hey baby, you have to wake up. I miss you like crazy. Greg's looking awful and Chris is worried about all of us..."

I can hear the exhaustion in his voice. I need to wake up, this has gone on long enough! I try to open my eyes or move my hand, anything! I'm not sure if it's working until I hear Derek.

"Śhìť, Mila wake up baby! Come on... please"

I feel my wolf trying to help me wake up too, she wants to be with her mate.

Suddenly I get the feeling like I've just taken in a massive breath and I shoot up in the bed, looking around frantically. Unsure if I was dreaming or not, I try to take in my unfamiliar surroundings before my eyes land on who I'd hoped to find.

"Derek...." I breathe out. So happy just to see him again.

I start to feel joy and relief but it's not mine.

"Mila..." He breathes back. "You're awake..." A smile forms on his face as he engulfs me into a warm hug.

"You have no idea how missed you were." Derek says into my neck.

"I missed you too." Then I remember the rogues. "Wait! What happened!? I remember getting ready to take on that guy I scratched but then the leader flung me into a rock..." I rush out trying to remember it all, while bringing my hand to my head.

Derek shushes me before explaining everything to me.

"Well, we had Greg burst into my office explaining you were taking on 5 rogues and sent him for help. We raced there with warriors and they chased two rogues and two took the one you knocked out away. We took you here and the doc said you'd wake up when your body had healed. Because it was a pretty bad blow to your head it took a while... You've been out since Wednesday morning baby... It's Saturday night now..."

What? I was out for four days!

"Did you catch the two rogues? Is Greg ok? Are you ok? You look like you haven't slept. What happened to the other rogue? Can I get out of the hospital yet?" I race out like shots.

He chuckles watching my mind process it all.

"No, sadly the two got away. Greg is ok but been beating himself up, Chris says he's very isolated. I'm ok but haven't really left your side much. I spoke to the other rogue. He gave information but we'll talk about it at home. I need to ask the doctor about leaving."

He answered all my ranted questions for me and I feel horrible. He looks like he barely slept and Greg feeling guilt for no reason.

I can't believe I was out for four days...

Derek goes to get the doctor for me and comes back with the same lady who looked at my leg. Shes a beautiful blonde girl. She actually looks too young to be a doctor...

She notices me analysing her and giggles. "I'm 21 but my parents are pack doctors, I learnt very young and loved for it while growing up. I promise while I'm young I'm very capable. Plus my parents still work here too." She smiles warmly at me.

She's never shown signs of not being capable so I trust her until she gives me reason not to.

"Sorry. You're just so young. I don't doubt your abilities though. But can I go home now?" I plead.

She looks over my head, does a few tests and half an hour later tells me I'm ok to leave.

I'm so happy to be able to have a nice shower and just lay with Derek. He looks so exhausted...

************

Derek's carrying me on his back into the pack house when I decide we need to make a pit stop before we rest.

"Can we go to Greg first?" I really don't want him to keep torturing himself any longer.

"Sure, love." He smiles.

We are at the top floor of the pack house but outside Chris and Gregs door. Derek sits me down and I knock on the door.

I hear Chris yell out "one sec!" Before he opens the door.

Once he realises It's me he smiles ear to ear and gives me a bear hug. "I'm so glad you're awake. We've all been worried sick."

He looks behind him a second before turning back to me. "Greg just passed out but can you wake him up. He'll wake up in half hour anyway, he's not sleeping right." I nod understanding.

I walk in and see Greg asleep, laying on his side facing me. He has black bags under his eyes and looks like he's lost some weight.

I lightly shake him. "Greg, sweety wake up please."

He grumbles "Go away, Chris."

I chuckle at his half asleep state, but I can't help but wonder if he's been pushing Chris away while I was out.

"Sweety, It's not Chris. It's Mila. Please wake up." I try again while stroking his cheek gently.

"Can't be Mila. She's in hospital because I let her get hurt." He mumbles before rolling onto his stomach.

"Greg sweety. Open your ďàmń eyes this moment or so help me, I will put your hand in a cup of water and make you pìśś the bed again!"

With that his eyes shoot open and he sits up. He rubs his face before looking at the dip in the bed and then seeing me.

"Mila, are you really awake? I'm not dreaming?" He says slowly cupping my cheek.

I give him a small smile before nodding.

Next thing I know, I'm engulfed into the biggest hug he's ever given me with a sobbing Greg.

"I'm so sorry I left you there Mila. If I thought you'd be put in the hospital for days I'd have stayed and fought with you. I'm so very sorry."

I grab his face so he's forced to look at me. "It was not your fault Greg. I ordered you away. I'd never forgive myself if you were hurt. Please stop beating yourself up, it hurts me to see you like this." I gesture to how exhausted he looks.

"I really am sorry Mila. I'm just so happy you're ok now." We hug for a minute, just enjoying the comfort.

I pull away, "Now I'm going to go have a shower, since I smell like a bin. And I'm going to enjoy sleeping next to my mate, who I can see needs it more than I do. You're going to do the same sweety, please don't push Chris away." I whisper to him.

He nods with a small smile. "Good night Mila. I'm glad you're home."

I go back to the door after seeing Greg lay back down. Chris gives me a warm smile, "Thanks Mila. He needed that. Hopefully he'll sleep now." We hear small snores and chuckle knowing he's already out.

We say goodbye before going to our room. "I'm going to grab us some dinner. Why don't you enjoy a shower and when your out we'll eat." Derek offerd.

I nod before grabbing one of his shirts and new panties. I enjoy the warmth of the hot water before washing my hair. I get out and dry myself then get dressed. I exit to see Derek sitting on the couch with our dinner.

We eat in a comfortable silence before brushing our teeth and going to bed.

He pulls me close and wraps his arms around me tightly. "I missed you so much Mila. Please, don't do that to me again."

I look into his tired eyes. "I'll try but you need to look after yourself. I shouldn't be feeling better than you."

We give each other a long needed kiss, which we reluctantly pull away from. He gives me another on my head before we go to sleep.

I'll never get sick of sleeping like this.
