February
February. What does a person think when they hear about the month 'February'? Do they think about the color pink? Or perhaps it's the taste of chocolate that they imagine, all thick and gooey and warm... Maybe it's their family. The place they can call home no matter what happens, a place where they feel safe and sound and secure...
And most importantly, loved.
Love was in the air and you could smell it. The house was quiet and the air blended with a sweet, yet gentle succulent. The lights had been dimmed as you marched your way up the steps, your voice gently calling out, "Honey? Are you asleep?" When silence was the reply you got, you had no intention of seeing what was beyond the door to your shared bedroom.
On your dresser sat a small flickering candle, one that swayed helplessly along to the rhythm of your loudly beating heart. A warm look was directed towards the fair male in the middle of the room, whose eyes met your own in a fashion that made your breath hitch in your throat and your entire body pulse with heat. His lips worked upwards into a sheepish smile, and rosy cheeks became contagious to those within the room.
Your love himself was not gussied up as one would like to foretell, but instead, he had given his room an aura that somehow screamed...
Admiration. Appreciation. Passion. Love.
Love... at its finest. And you two hadn't even exchanged words.
You took a few steps towards him, closing the door with your foot and loosely folding your hands behind your back. "Is Playtime asleep?" He gave a shy nod and averted his eyes from you.
A set of palms found their way to his cheeks, gently caressing with the pad of their thumb, "Oh sweetheart," came a voice low and uncertain, "This is..."
He built up the courage to embrace you, both of his hands lay on your hips, and as a result, you gravitated towards him,
"Perfect."
You were just about as uncertain as he was. This whole dating during adulthood ordeal... But these uncertainties were washed away rather quickly. When you had a partner that you could trust and rely on when you needed them the most, things worked out.
Your hands glide down ever so softly from his neck to his shoulders, and they come to a halt on his chest. Your hand precisely where his heart is. It was... warmer than usual.
You swayed back and forth while in his arms, oh so slowly, and when the timing was right, you allowed him to dip down and steal a slow, sensual kiss from your needy lips. He took the lead from here, the shy shell of his being shed somewhere in which confidence outshone any of it. Nothing was heard between the two lovers aside from their subtle acts of lovemaking that had proven to... anticipate an escalation throughout the rest of the night.
The hand on your waist trailed downwards, tenderly squeezing at parts of you he had wanted to worship, gripping at your upper thigh and hoisting it up onto his hip. His warmth transferred from him to you, and when he pulled away to loiter kisses up your neck and hummed words laced with sugar into your ear, you were close to melting just as much as the candle that sat at your bedside. Eventually, you two found yourselves on your shared bed, him in between your legs, your arms around his neck...
He felt like he had fallen in love for the first time again and it was heavenly.
Sighs and subtle noises were exchanged in return of the love-filled kisses, caresses and honey coated words. His groin desperately moved up against yours when he was moving closer to you, "Oh god babe..." His lover beneath him had softly gripped onto his shirt, taking in a breath. He was on the verge of melting, and you two were only just getting started. He pressed kisses to a single spot on your neck, one that made you take and giggle just a tad... Your eyes then averted to the dresser, noticing a small red envelope.
"Princi?"
"Yes?"
Panic had started to set in. Oh god, he hadn't even asked you if this was what you wanted. He didn't know if you were uncomfortable. What if he wasn't good enough? What if you didn't want to go this far with him? All of this, and he had been pushing himself onto you since the second you got home!
"What's that on the dresser?"
"Well, I er... It's for you. All of this is for you." His reddened face retreated from yours, and clammy hands clutched at his pants, "I wanted to show how much I..." He couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence. He was ashamed. Flustered with himself and how he'd started this night off. Yet, when you gestured for him to hand you the envelope, he could feel some of his tensions fading away.
"Can you read it to me?"
Oh, he was most definitely not ready. This was just like an adult form of an elementary school confession. Why was this so hard? Your puppy eyes were not helping in the slightest. You were just so... So extremely difficult. In a good way. Difficult in a way that helped him find himself when he believed he was lost. Difficult in a way that made things exciting, arousing even. Complex in a fashion that he absolutely adored. So he agreed to read.
You had opened the envelope with a shy smile and put the folded letter into his hands, "Relax," you cooed, sitting on his lap and making yourself comfortable. "It's just us."
And with that, he had gained the confidence of a king, but kept his humble attitude, "Okay." He whispered.
"I wish I would have known you sooner. I wish to have understood the way you made me feel before I made the mistakes that I've made. You came into my life and put into perspective what I was too blind to witness on my own. That tunnel vision is gone now. So is that old me."
He looked up briefly. Your attention was locked on him. He continued.
"I treasure every moment I spend with you, I'm selfish. Whenever we're together, the days don't feel like days. They feel like an eternity. Even then I don't want them to end..."
The messy Principal smiled a little upon hearing you laugh.
"You're so bright. So kind and absolutely stunning. You've got a personality more vibrant than a diamond, one that's worth more than that of an entire gold mine. Knowing that you're mine is a gift. Being around you is magical. Getting the chance to speak to you right now is..."
He looked up from his little paragraphs of handwriting, watching as your eyes shone with the water threatening to spill from them. He didn't say anything about it though. All he did was take hold of your hand.
"Spectacular. You do things to me that I never thought I could feel before."
The Principal squeezed your hand softly, watching as you covered your eyes with the back of your free hand.
"I love you. I love you so much."
Sniffles filled the room.
"I love you too."
His lover crawled into his arms, embracing him in a hug. It was warm and comfortable and it made you want to stay in his arms forever. After what he'd said, you wanted to do that anyways. He loved you. He loved every aspect of your being. Loved your smile, your quirks... your faults and everything in between. And he didn't show any signs of wanting to leave your side. Strong and firm arms pulled you closer to his chest emphasized stability. You could not have been any happier. Happy to have loved and to be loved. This was all you needed.
This was all that you had ever wanted.
That night you had given and expressed so much affection towards each other. So many kisses and sweet words... The next day was the same thing, except this time, Playtime was included. The whole weekend was filled with your family basking in each other's presence.
What goes around comes around. What better thing to go around than love?
