06: Apology

You walked Jeremy to his Karate Class with tears threatening to come out of your eyes.

'How could i be so stupid?' You thought to yourself. 'I should've told him... Then maybe he wouldn't be angry at me...' You can't keep the tears in forever and so, tears started to form in the corner of your eyes. 'Why should i care? Why do i care?' You realized, asking yourself the question that you always wondered. 'I only knew him for about a day! And how could i have known that he hated Jeremy? How could i screw up so badly?' You kept thinking until you reached the dojo. You lead Jeremy in and sat down on one of those seats overlooking the class. Marco walked in but you just looked down, hoping to not be seen. He looked at you then turned towards the teacher. Star skipped in after him and saw you. She smiled and sat down next to you.

'At least someone isn't angry...'

''Hey (Y/N)! I didn't see you after school! How come?'' She asked. I guess she could tell something was wrong because she immediately added, ''You can tell me anything, you know. It'll be alright.'' She gave you a reassuring smile that always made you feel calm. I don't know what it is about Star that makes you comfortable. She's a really great friend.

You told her everything; How Jeremy was your brother, how you had no idea Marco and him were enemies, how Marco was really mad, how confused you were and everything else. Star looked at you with concern and hugged you gently. ''It's okay, it happens sometimes. Marco can be a bit... confusing at times but i'm sure that he's going to forget about it eventually.''

While she talked, you were kinda staring at Marco but he kept ignoring you. You still weren't completely sure why he was mad. When the Karate Class was over, you headed towards Jeremy. You didn't see Marco anywhere.

''Jeremy, wait here. I'm going to look for a friend.'' You said, hoping that you could at least talk to Marco to understand what was going on.

He was about to protest but hesitated and remained silent. You began searching for him and Star, you knew that they were still here because their bike was still outside. Then you heard a voice talking and you recognized it immediately. Marco.

''She lied to us Star! The least she could've told us is that her brother is Jeremy! The eight year old that practically bullies me whenever he has the chance!'' He was angry. You stood still, listening to every word.

''You never asked if Jeremy was her brother, Marco.'' Another voice piped up. You breathed a sigh of relief. It was Star. ''She is our friend, Marco. Yesterday, you two were so nice to each other and everything. What happened to that?''

Marco immediately replied. ''We knew her for less than a day, Star! She might just be exactly like her brother; a Spoiled Brat.'' He spat out, like it was poison in his mouth.

''Honestly, Marco. Let's see if you really think that she's a spoiled brat. You saw that she fought off Brittney and told her to walk away from me because she was calling me 'Butterface', that's nothing like what Jeremy would do. She never flaunts that she is rich, Marco. Despite the fact that she's Jeremy's brother, she was shy. She even asked you for help on the Math worksheet, remember? She never even humiliated anyone.'' It was silent for a moment but then you heard a sigh.

''Just because she is your nemesis' sister doesn't mean that they share the same attitude. Everyone has their own personality, Marco. You saw it with your own eyes, didn't you? Did you ever once see (Y/N) doing something what Jeremy would do?'' Another silence. Marco doesn't speak up.

''I don't know why you act like none of it was real yesterday. I just-- (Y/N)?'' She said, looking at your direction. You didn't want to deal any of this. You ran off before hearing Star tell Marco something. ''Now look what you've done.''

You heard Star calling your name. You came up to Jeremy and began leaving. You were just tired of it. You didn't care if Marco was mad, but something told you otherwise. When you got home, you closed your bedroom door and buried your face in your pillow while bursting into tears.

Marco's Point of View

I watched as (Y/N) ran out of the dojo. I wanted to go after her but i would probably mess it up. Star was right; she was still our friend. Still is, i hope. I messed up real bad. I headed to their house, thinking about how to apologize. I still wanted to be friends with her but i guess that i was just angry that Jeremy was her brother. Then i suddenly remembered when i first met Star. She said that i didn't get a choice about having to deal with her. It's basically the same thing with (Y/N) and Jeremy. I just need to fix this.

I wasn't in time to be in awe about how large their house is. I rang the doorbell and Jeremy opened the door. I expected it to be a butler or a maid or maybe even one of his parents.

''Can i talk to your sister?'' I asked, rubbing the back of my neck.

''What's your business with her? She's in her room crying about who knows what.'' He replied as he rolled his eyes at me. I think he knew though, by the way he was looking at me.

''I need to apologize.'' I told him.

He seemed to hesitate but opened the door for me to come in. I was halfway through the door when she stopped me. ''I know that i might be a jerk to you and everyone but i'll become twice the jerk that you knew if you hurt her again.'' He began glaring at me with a threatening look.

''I wont. I promise.'' I headed upstairs. I stopped at a certain door when i heard someone crying. I knew it was (Y/N). I knocked on the door.

''Go away!'' I heard a muffled voice respond.

''It's me, Marco..'' I told her, hoping that she would let me in.

There was a pause on the other end of the door. ''What do you want?'' I heard her sniff as she asked me a question.

''I want to talk to you. Please let me in.'' I said.

Another pause. ''Fine...'' She replied.

I heard the door unlocking. As soon as it unlocked, i entered her room and saw her sitting on her bed, eyeing me cautiously. Her eyes were red from crying. I sat down at the foot of her bed, across from her. ''Look, i just wanted to say that I'm sorry...'' I told her. ''I shouldn't have gotten mad from that.''

A small smile appeared on her lips as she wiped the tears on her (E/C) eyes. ''It's alright. It's basically my fault; i should've told you about Jeremy before. I just didn't know that you two hated each other.'' She looked down.

''No, it's fine. I should be the one at fault here.'' I gave her a warm smile.

Her smile grew as she hugged me tightly. I immediately hugged her back. ''Thanks Marco...'' She said, still hugging me.

We stayed like that for a couple of seconds. When she sat back up, i felt weird. Like, i didn't want the hug to be over. Eventually, i needed to head home so i said goodbye to (Y/N). ''I'll see you at school tomorrow, okay?'' I told her.

She smiled again. ''Yeah, bye.''

I walked out of her room and saw Jeremy standing not too far from (Y/N)'s room with his arms crossed and a small smile on his lips. ''I always thought that you're just an idiot with no brains but i guess that i can stop calling you an idiot from now on.'' Jeremy said as he walked down the stairs. ''Probably.'' I heard him saying that and i just smiled.

Maybe Jeremy is not that bad after all.

''Now get out of my house or i'll ask my butler to kick you out.'' His face suddenly turned sour as he pointed towards the open door.

Actually, never mind that. He's still a stupid kid.

I left the house and headed home but for some reason, i still had this strange feeling again. I just decided that it was probably nothing. So i walked home with a big smile on my face.
