Okay before I start I just wanna say that there is an important a/n at the end! Please read if you want but I just wanted to say that before I start! Now I guess I'll start!

John's POV:

      I woke up earlier than usual. I don't know if it was because there was a girl in our tent or because we didn't get our drinks last night. I just laid there looking at everyone sleeping. And I tried to not find it creepy but I couldn't help but look at how peaceful (Y/n) was when she slept. It made me feel something inside that I don't usually feel. It was just something about her that caught my eye. I ended up falling asleep again but someone woke me up in what felt like 2 minutes. "John come on we're getting breakfast." Alex said shaking me. "Wh-what um okay yeah." I said tired. Maybe it was longer since I was even more tired than before. I got up to see (Y/n), Herc, and Laf chuckling while standing by the tent flaps. "Are you coming?" (Y/n) said with a smile on her face. "Uh um y-yeah sure!" I said clearly blushing. Oh my gosh what is happening! Why am I acting like this! "Well come on mon ami!" Laf said. (Sorry I'm not French I've just heard that a male friend is mon ami and female is mon amie.) we all walked out of the tent and got some breakfast. The same as always bread and eggs. But I'm grateful.

We headed back to the tent before we had training later. "So John what happened earlier?" Alex said running up to me in the front. "Uh n-nothing." I stuttered. "John do you like (Y/n)?" He asked getting real close. "No! I-I just had a uh um little um stuttering e-earlier." I said once again stuttering. "But you just stuttered and you're blushing!" He smirked. "That means nothing!" I whispered yell. (Y/n) was in the back laughing with the other two but right when Alex asked that they stopped. "Sure." He said smirking. "You know you should ask her to the winters ball that's in a few days." He said looking straight. "Um maybe I don't know. What if I want to go alone?" I asked. "John I know you don't want to go alone." He said. "I guess you'll have to wait and see" I said smirking. I ran off to the side and didn't look back. Why did I run? I don't know! I guess I just wanted to get away from all the questions.

(Y/n) POV:

We were going back to the tent from breakfast. John walked ahead of everyone. He was still probably embarrassed from earlier. I was laughing and talking having a good time with Lafayette and Hercules. Alex then ran up to John and they started talking. I didn't care and neither did the guys until we heard Alex say "But you just stuttered and you're blushing!". What were they talking about? But eventually the three of us started laughing and talking again. Until we saw John run off and not look back. "Uh guys I think I'll go talk to him." I said. "Oh okay (Y/n)" Hercules said smirking. "Stop! I don't like him!" I said with a pink blush dusting my face. I ran after John following him into the woods. He sat down on a log by a river. I walked over and sat beside him. "Hey you okay?" I asked. "Oh um y-yeah." He said stuttering. "Why did you run out here?" I said. "To get away from all the questions Alex was asking." He said not looking up. "What was he asking?" I said very curious. "Uh personal questions." He said. I put my hand on his shoulder and he met eyes with mine. His brown eyes were so beautiful. His freckles splattered all over his face. Okay so maybe I do like him but the others can't know that. Who couldn't like him?!?! "Uh so maybe we sh-should go back now since we uh have training soon." I stuttered and never breaking eye contact. "Yeah I guess we should." He said getting up. He pulled me up and we started walking out together.

Finally we reached the tent. It was silent the whole way back. "Hey the love birds made it back in time for training!" Hercules said. "Shut up!" John and I said at the same time. We looked at each other and smiled. "Aw you two were made for each other!" Alex said. I rolled my eyes and laid on my bed. "Don't get to comfy we have training in the field soon." Lafayette said. "Okay" I said sitting up. So we sat and talked for awhile until we had to leave and go to the training field.

We arrived at the field and we all had our guns. "So how do you like it so far?" Washington said walking up beside me. "It's great, the guys are awesome!" I said. "Good! Good to hear." He said with a slight smile. "Well I guess I should go out there now." I told him. "Go show those men what you can do." He said patting me on the shoulder. I was shorter than everyone there! But I was close to taller than Alex hehe!

Hours of training go by and we finished. Washington said we didn't have training tomorrow since the winters ball was the day after. He said everyone needed to get cleaned up for it. "Hey (Y/n) you wanna get drinks with us?" Hercules asked. "Sure but I've never had alcohol before." I said. "Then I guess tonight you're trying it!" Alex said. "Uh okay?" I said confused. We were at a giant tent with a lot of men inside. All you could hear was yelling and all you could smell was the strong scent of alcohol. We sat down and ordered our drinks. The guys ordered me one beer to try. The drinks came and the guys were watching me as I went to take my first sip. I took a sip of the drink and it burned my throat. "Uh okay yeah that's weird!!" I said. "Just keep taking sips it'll get better!" Hercules said. Everyone was happy and drinking. All the guys were drunk except for me and John. He only had two drinks and I only finished my one. But the other guys... well... I don't know how much they had. John and I pulled out the other three so we could get back to the tent. They walked in the front while John and I stood in the back. "So how was your first drink?" John asked. "Eh I guess." I said. "Heh yeah that's how I was with my first one. But it'll get better." He said. It was dark but I could tell he was smiling. "Is this how they always are when they go out for drinks?" I asked. "Yeah but I got used to it and so will you." He said. I chuckled. We kept walking until we reached the tent. We took the guys inside and they fell asleep right away. "You wanna go walk around?" John asked. "Yeah sure!" I replied. Out the tent we go.

It was quiet and dark but I didn't care. We stayed silent just walking around. Until John grabbed my hand. So we were walking while holding hands. "Hey I've noticed you don't stutter anymore when you talk to me!" I said proudly. "Heh yeah I guess I don't!" He said smiling. "So... (Y/n) I was wondering if you would like to go to the winters ball with me?" He asked. "I would love to!" I said happily. "Do you need a dress or- "I already got one." I said cutting him off. "Okay." He said.

We laid on the ground looking at the stars above us in the dark blue sky. "It's pretty tonight." John said. "Yeah! The stars in the sky make me think of your freckles." I said to him. "Yup! But to bad the sun isn't out." He said. "Why?" I asked chuckling. "Because. It makes me think of you! How it's bright, hot, and beautiful!" He said rolling over. "You're so cheesy but I like that!" I said rolling over to face him. "Thanks." He said smiling even bigger than before. "I'm tired. Maybe we should go back." I said with a yawn. "Whatever you want!" He said helping me up.

And so we walked to the tent holding hands again. "Let's just hope the other guys don't catch us." I said. "Yeah we won't hear the end of it." He chuckled. Reaching the tent we walked in. But you know how I said they fell asleep right away when we dropped them off? Well apparently not! We walked in to three goofballs standing there with smirks on their faces. "Where were you guys?" Hercules said smirking. "We just went for a walk." I said shrugging it off. "And what happened on that walk?" Alex said smirking even bigger. "Nothing! We just walked around and looked at the stars!" John said blushing. "Uh I don't think so mon ami. Why else would you be blushing." Lafayette said. "He asked my to go to the winters ball with him okay!"I said. "And what did you say?" Alex said putting his arm around my shoulders. "Yes" I mumbled. "Awwwwww!!!" The three of them squealed. "When's the wedding?" Hercules asked. "We're not a thing we're just going to the ball together." John said. "Oh no no no! You guys have to get together!" Lafayette said. John and I just looked at each other smiling. "SEE! Look at you guys!" Alex squealed. I shook my head and sat down. "Well goodnight you love birds." Hercules said ruffling my hair. And the three got in bed going to sleep.

John sat beside me and put his arm around my shoulder. "It sucks that they found out." I sighed. "Yeah but we should have seen it coming." He said. "Yup!" I said. "Well I guess let's go to bed then." John said getting up. "Yeah but wait!" I said. He turned around to face me. I grabbed his collar and smashed my lips against his. He was stiff for a moment but soften up once he knew what was happening. He kissed back and we pulled apart after a few seconds. "Don't tell the guys." I said smirking. "I definitely won't." He said. And we both got in our own beds. He's not a bad kisser I thought. And I fell asleep just thinking about the kiss.
