******TIME SKIP TO THE DAY OF THE WINTER BALL******

(Y/n) POV:

Today was the winter ball and Alex, Laf, and Herc would not shut up about me and John. They don't know about the kiss and never will. John and I aren't a thing but we're close friends. And the few days I've been here I have gotten really close with Alex as well. Even though he can be annoying and obnoxious, he's still my friend. "Hey what's up?" John said walking into the tent. "The sky." I said proudly. "You know what I mean!" John said sitting beside me. "I'm just writing to someone." I said. "Who?" He asked. "A person." I replied. "What person?" He said getting closer. "Uh someone I don't feel like discussing right now." I told him. "(Y/n). Who?" He said. "Not telling" I said shaking my head. "Then I guess you asked for this." He said. Next thing I know John tackled me to the floor and is now tickling me. "Stop stop stop I'll tell you! Okay?" I laughed. "Okay who?" John asked sitting up. "Fine... my... mom." I said very hesitant. "Why couldn't you tell me that in the first place?" He asked smiling. "Well it's just that we don't talk as much as we used to." I said slowly. "Why what happened?" He asked very cautious. "I asked her if I could join the revolution and she flipped out and I ran away." I said. "Oh. Sorry I shouldn't have asked then I guess." He sadly said. "No it's fine!" I said trying to cheer him up. I laid my head on his shoulder. He gave a soft smile and put his head on mine.

The hours were passing by fast. I was excited to see Peggy but nervous to see Angelica and Eliza. Would they be mad? Or would they not care? Whatever it was, it was getting close to the time for the ball. And soon enough that time came! I was getting ready and I was almost finished. Wow being out here made me move faster I guess. I chuckled to myself and finished putting up my hair. "You ready- woah!" John said walking in. "You look great!" He said. "Thanks!" I said giving a little spin. John came over and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "What's that for?" I asked smiling. "You're my date so I thought I should do that." He shrugged. He locked hands with mine and we walked out of the tent. We got in the carriage that was waiting and left for the Schuyler mansion. "Why aren't the guys riding with us?" I asked. "I wanted some personal time with you." He said.

The ride was quiet as I put my head on John's shoulder and he put his head on mine. Finally we made it to the Schuyler mansion. John climbed out and gave me his hand to hold on to. "Shall we go m'lady!" He said with a fancy accent. "For sure you fine gentleman!" I said with the same accent. We smiled as we walked in holding each other's hands. But as soon as I walked in I was tackled by Peggy squeezing the life out of me with a hug. "I missed you too." I choked out. "Oh sorry! I'm just really excited! And who's this?!" She said eyeing John. "Oh my friend John Laurens!" I said as he blushed. "Oh I see." She said smirking. "Stop!" I said playfully hitting her. "Uh (Y/n)... I'm gonna go hang with the guys for awhile." He said. "Okay!" I said. "Now don't tell me you don't like him!" Peggy said. "I do and he likes me but we decided on just being close friends." I said. "Noooo! That's not fun! You guys are perfect together!" She said. "Everyone says that." I said rolling my eyes. "Well let's go see Eliza and Angelica!" She said pulling me along.

     We ran up to them and they tackled me into a hug. "Hey guys!" I said getting up. "Peggy told us everything about the revolution and you joining." Eliza said. "How is it?" Angelica asked. "So far it's pretty good! I meet some friends." I said. "One them will make her complete." Peggy whispered. "Peggy stop!" I said. "Oh I see!" Eliza said nudging my shoulder. I rolled my eyes because this was annoying. "Well where is he?!?" Angelica asked. I pointed over to where the guys were and said "the one with freckles.". "Awwwww you guys do look like you'd be cute together!!" Angelica and Eliza squealed. "See I told you!" Peggy said. "We're just friends! Okay?" I said. "Oh fine." Eliza sighed. "I'll be back! I'm gonna get a drink." I said turning away. "Okay." All three said.

    I walked over to get a drink and just stood there taking small sips of my water. But then I jumped from a little surprise. "So did you come with a guy?" Washington asked sneaking up behind me. I choked on my water and said "oh Mr. Washington I didn't see you! Uh yes, yes I did.". "So who's the lucky guy?" He asked. "John. John Laurens!" I said with a smile. "Oh! Well he's a good kid. If he doesn't treat you right just tell me and I'll hunt him down" he said patting my back. "Oh we're not a couple!" I said. "Oh well if you do just know that he's a good, brave, kid." He said. "Thank you for the notice!" I replied. "Well go have fun! You're young and I'm not holding you back!" He said. I gave him a smile and walked back to the Schuyler sisters.

   We talked and laughed and had a good time. Then Eliza pulled Angelica to the side whispering something to her. All of a sudden Angelica walks off to Alex. What was she doing?!?! Peggy and I watched from behind some people and saw Alex take Eliza to dance. But...! "Hey (Y/n)! A certain someone is coming over here!" Peggy said smirking. Then out of nowhere John comes up from behind and grabs my hand. "So would you like this dance?" He asked cheerfully. "Yes I would!" I said blushing. "Alright that's enough! Go dance love birds!" Peggy said. John pulled me out to the dance floor and  we started dancing. I could see out of the corner of my eye Eliza and Alex dancing. "So I see Alex got Eliza Schuyler." I said. "Oh yeah, that's a good catch." He said. "Yeah!" I chuckled. "Eliza has been a good friend for the time I've know her." I said. "Well that's good for Alex. She's pretty, caring, rich, and so much more!" He said astonished. I looked at the floor with a blank expression. Then I looked up and smiled. "But you're all I need!" He said. "Because you're the same, but to me you're a hundred times better!" He cheerfully said. "John I know we decided on being close friends, but don't you ever wanna be more than friends?" I asked. "Well I guess since we have grown close these few days it wouldn't hurt! I mean you're the world to me (Y/n)! I don't know what I'd do if you disappeared!" He said.

   I smiled and looked down when finally I asked "So is that a yes?". "Of course!" He said. We both smiled at each other. And even though I couldn't see it clearly I knew Peggy was watching. "Now kiss!!!" I heard Peggy yell out. We both laughed and John started to come closer. And before I knew he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. We pulled apart and saw everyone watching. It was awkward and weird because why would they want to watch us kiss?!? Everyone started clapping for some random reason. We both blushed and shrugged our shoulders. "Well I'm gonna take a second outside? If you don't mind!" I said. "No go ahead!" He said real fast.

   I walked outside and leaned against a wall. "Woah! I can't believe he said yes!" I whispered to myself. I sat down for a minute but was yanked up by someone. When I got up I met eyes with my mom. "Uh uh why a-are you um he-here?" I asked stuttering. "You're coming home with me now!"She said firmly. "No! I meant awesome friends and I have a great boyfriend!" I said yanking my arm away. "Don't talk to me like that young lady!" She said grabbing my arm again. I yanked it away again and fell against the wall. I tried to get inside but she pulled me out again. "Let go!" I yelled struggling. I kept trying to get away but no use. Then to my luck, someone grabbed me and shoved my mom away. I meet eyes with John. Thank gosh I thought! "Don't touch her!" John yelled pulling me into a hug. "That is my daughter for all you know and she's coming with me!" She demanded. "No she isn't! She is old enough to make her own decisions and if she says no she means no!" He yelled. Wow I've never seen John like this! "Ugh fine but don't come crying to me when your so called "friends" and "boyfriend" ditches you!" She yelled stomping away. I watched her stomp away and once she was out of sight I hugged John tightly. "Thank you so much!" I said. "No problem and don't worry the guys and I would never ditch you." He said.

   He took me inside and we sat down on the sofa. Most people were starting to leave so we got up after a few minutes and walked to the guys. "Hey what's up!" Herc said. "Oh well... should we tell them?" I asked. "Yeah we should." John said. "Well..." Laf said. "We're a couple!" We both said at the same time. "No way! That's great!" Alex said. "Yeah I'm happy we're together." John said putting his arm around my shoulder. "Well should we go back to the camp now?" Herc asked. "Oui it is pretty late!" Laf said. I said my goodbyes to the Schuyler's. And we all got in a carriage and rode back.

    We reached the camp all tired. We got in our tent. John sat on the floor and I laid my head in his lap. He was playing with my hair since I took it out and changed into a nightgown. We all listened to Alex as he rambled on and on about Eliza. He told us about how he was going to write letters to her every day. And knowing Alex he will. I didn't really care anymore because he's been talking for so long! I'm just happy me and John decided to be more than close friends. And with everyone saying "oh you guys are cute together" or "awwww look at you love birds" it was getting annoying. It just feels good to have the feeling of love with someone so sweet!

  Finally Alex finished rambling and said he was tired. So we all got in our beds. But before John got in bed he came over and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. "I love you!" He said. "I love you too freckle face!" I said smiling. "Get a room!" Alex said. "Alright you two we get it now go to sleep and do it tomorrow!" Herc said. "Oui I need my sleep!" Laf said. John and I laughed and he went and got in bed. Gosh I love him so much. I couldn't ask for a better boyfriend. I'm just lucky I got him before any other girl. I wouldn't be able to stand seeing him with another girl. I couldn't stop thinking about John. I need to get sleep though. We needed to be ready for the British at all times and if I'm tired I can't fight right. But eventually I fell asleep. That's good at least!

Got another chapter out! I hope you liked it and sorry it was so late. I do a lot of writing at night and stay up late even though sometimes I have to get up early. But I got another one. It has the most words out of all the chapters so far! Nice! Well I guess I'll just say that I'll have another chapter out soon! This is goodbye for now!
