Stuck in Love
Blake's POV:
I was doing just fine before she barged into my life again. I was doing really well in school, a to be doctor, and a life that was going smoothly. But I guess god, and my brother, have other plans for me.
I got a text from him not too long ago stating the same sentence sent to Alexis. How he and Alexis's best friend teamed up is something my mind isn't processing, and I have no idea what to feel. Be bad at him for setting me up, or be grateful for his doing.
Sure she popped into my mind every once in a while, sometimes even took over my whole thoughts, but it wasn't something I couldn't handle.
I accepted my fate. She never loved me, while I'll always love her. Or at least I thought so.
I accepted the fact that I'll always be single, stuck in love with the most beautiful girl. I even tried to forget her, but nothing worked. I tried to go out with so many girls, went on so many dates, but nothing got her off my mind.
But now she's back, and nothing will ever work anymore. She's back and in love with me.
If life was a fairytale then I'd be over the moon knowing that, but this is reality. So how could I be happy when all I remember is getting hurt by my only crush as a kid?
Her eyes never left the floor but I could still see how red and puffy they were from all the crying, and her perfect makeup was messed up now. Yet she looked like the prettiest person ever.
I groaned at myself.
Maybe I shouldn't let her go now that there's a chance that she might be with me forever. Maybe this was all fate's doing, so who am I to say no to what might be the best thing in my life? Maybe patch things up and give us a second chance.
"I never got over you, you know"
She looked up, and her eyes now had sparkle in them. Just as if I'd given her life and hope.
"I want to make things up between us, but my only condition is that everything goes on my terms. You owe me that much"
She nodded immediately, and a wide smile covered her beautiful face.
"What are your conditions?" she murmured, still smiling.
"First of all, I want us to start fresh. The moment we leave from here, we open a new page. Second, I want us to go on dates, get to know each other from the beginning, just like total strangers. And maybe catch up on the past five years. Finally, I want to know, in details, what changed your mind about me"
"I'll gladly do all of these"
I nodded. I was happy by the reaction I was getting out of her. She seemed committed to making things work between us and now, so am I.
We both sat comfortably after that, our legs brushing one another, and we were lost in our own bubble.
"How long do you think it will take them before they let us out of here?"
"Getting bored of me already?" I teased.
"Never. It's just getting a little cold in here and I'm starting to get hungry"
"Well I can only help with one of them. Come here"
I took off my suit jacket and put it on her, then used her being cold as an excuse to bring her closer to me.
I made her sit next to me and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, brushing it up and down to make her feel warmer.
I missed this. I missed having her in my life, I missed her laugh, and I just missed everything about her.
Remembering the mention of her being hungry, I texted my brother telling him that everything is good now and to come get us out. I may have added a threat as well, but a only sweet one. I still owe him a thank you after all.
As much as I didn't want this moment to end, it had to, yet I still looked forward to what's coming next.
As early as it may seem, I saw a bright future of us. One that gave me hope. I'd graduate med school and start my career. Meanwhile our relationship would have progressed and I'd asked for her hand then. Be in our engagement phase for a while, and then get married.
Both of our careers would be successful by then, and that's when we start thinking about having kids. Have a kid or two, a boy and a girl, and then we'd grow old together. And if this fantasy of mine were to happen, then I'd be content with my life, and the happiest man alive.
I looked down at her only to find her asleep. I kissed the top of her head and sighed.
Just with one look, I knew I was content already. She was everything I ever needed.
