The Boy From a Statue

A white cape settled gracefully on the ground, quiet steps echoed within the long hall. KID smiled at the sleeping policemen all around him, and crouched down to pick up the remains of his small sleeping gas bomb to stuff it into his pocket. He could recycle this into a new one, it would be a waste to throw it away just like that.
KID wasn't worried this time. He had sent a dummy off prior, the majority of the Task Force was chasing after it in this very moment, and the rest of the officers had been put to sleep only minutes ago.

KID took his time admiring the art around him, looking for his target. A special statue, that far he knew. A gem had been placed onto its chest, today's target. KID was absolutely ready to carefully chisle it out of the stone, and was already excitedly fiddling with his tools inside his seemingly endless pockets.
The moment he reached his goal, his lips curled up into a huge grin as he eyed the statue from head to toe. He had been looking forward to this exhibition. This statue proved to be an easy capture. Even his dearest rival detective Kudo wasn't quite himself today, still recovering from the final antidote of his poison.
KID slowly reached out after a quick glance around to make sure he wasn't going to be disturbed, before he took out hammer and chisle, lifting it in attempt to start his work.

A crash made itself audible before a round object, carrying a deadly amount of speed, whizzed past KID's head into the statue, completely knocking it off of its stand and sending it crashing onto the floor tiles. KID jumped aside, startled, eyes flickering around, his heart hammering in his chest. That could have ended badly for him.

Is Meitantei already here?! How did he find me this fast?! I don't have time anymore, I-

KID's thoughts cut short as he turned towards the ruined statue, coming face to face with a boy around his age scrambling to get up from the pieces of stone around him. Eyes locking with the boy, both parties froze, and his company slowly raised himself onto his bare feet.

"D-did you just-?!" KID stared at the pieces of the statue before him and... the boy that appeared from within. Startled, the green eyed male stared back at KID, mouth slowly dropping open as well. His hand quietly reached up to brush off leftover crumbs from his skin, yet his eyes remained locked onto KID.

KID didn't know what to do. How to handle this. He frowned upon realizing that his newfound company didn't wear a thing, and took off his coat to wrap it with a gentle smile around the shivering boy, politely keeping his focus on his face.
"I... My, I am thoroughly caught off guard... You..."
KID shook his head, falling silent again. He hadn't ever expected a boy his age to come out of a statue. Neither the large gem stuck right above his supposedly heart, sparkling under the room lights. His eyes dropped to the all too familiar deflated soccer ball right next to the remains of the statue.

"I might have to make a quick escape before Meitantei stumbles over this..."

Again, KID shook his head. He couldn't just leave this boy here, with his cape.
"Do you understand me? Can you speak my language?"
The boy stared back at him, lips unmoving, the same frightened and confused look on his face as before. KID's eyes dropped back onto the shining gem right inside his chest; surprisingly this seemed to agitate the male as he covered it up with one hand and shot a shy yet displeased glare into the thief's direction. Finally, KID had an idea.
"Come. Come with me. Come."
He beckoned him to follow, begging that at least he would understand hand gestures. To his relief, the male slowly began to move, staggering after the thief like a newborn deer unable to control his limbs just yet.

"Where is he?! Dammit!"

KID's thoughts ran wild as he could hear Kudo Shinichi cursing from the place he had just been seconds ago, while simultanously coaxing his target into following him further and further. He had to get both of them out of here. What even was this guy? There was so much wrong with this entire situation. What could he possibly do now? Especially with him?

Kaito didn't exactly want to let him go either, seeing as the appearance of a boy from out of a thousands of years old statue with a pulsing gem embedded into his chest wasn't exactly normal. What if Snake was going to try and target him? No, he needed to hide him for a bit. He needed his time to research, and he couldn't exactly take a good look at this gem either... Somehow the boy was extremly uncomfortable with Kaito's attempts of interacting with it.

The moment the doors of his own home shut behind the two of them, Kaito released a breath of relief he didn't remember holding in anymore. Silence followed as he just stared at the confused boy in front of him, who just stared quietly back, before said one slowly turned and scurried into the depths of Kaito's house.
The thief gasped, and immediately followed after, yet couldn't suppress the amused smile.
He found only seconds later with a fascinated expression on his face, flicking the light of the living room on and off.

Instinctively, Kaito wondered. He was pretty calm for someone that had just been broken from out of a statue. Was he used to something like this? Shuddering, the thief shook his head as he slowly took off his top hat and monocle, not wanting to imagine that. Stuck for an eternity inside a statue, no, Kaito wasn't quite up for that claustrophobic nightmare.
"What's your name?"
The boy frowned, forest green eyes immediately flickering back to Kaito. Said one bit down into his own lip, frustrated. How could he communicate with this guy?!

Finally, Kaito pointed onto himself and stated quietly his name.
"Kuroba Kaito."
The boy watched as Kaito's lips moved, then cocked his head to the side. Well? Wasn't he going to say anything? Kaito sighed and shook his head, wandering quietly off to fetch a blanket and some of his own clothes for him. What on earth was he going to do with this boy?
