Panic and Disease

Blinding lights and panicked voices everywhere, accompanied by the cheers of people crying out towards their favorite idol. Kaito was living his dream again, dashing through the long hallway, disguised as a member of the Task Force. Orders were shouted into his ear, responded by others around him.

Kaito kept silent, just rushing along. He knew it had been too long since he revealed himself, he had to make another appearance soon again. It was a bit unfashionable for him to just up and disappear, he preferred a good exit.
Kudo Shinichi was mixed inbetween the Task Force, keeping an eager eye out for his rival in white, sapphires flashing from room to room in an attempt to uncover the phantom's exit route. Shinichi frowned at the cameras inside the surveillance truck, this time they had kept the exhibition nearly empty aside a few officers- now hurdled together in one spot, searching for KID in a large group around the museum.

Shinichi was sick of this cat and mouse game, where was that damned thief?
A swirl of white on the cameras was all the young detective needed to be able to stumbled head over heels out of the truck and make a run for it into the exhibition. He knew where KID was and would cut off his exit way just perfectly.

"What are you doing here...?!"

Shinichi froze midstep, slowing down into a quiet jog. That was KID's voice, and it did NOT sound pleased in the slightest. Cowering behind a large decorative plant, Shinichi watched the phantom in white stare down a boy his age. The detective paused for a second, a look of utzer confusion covering his face. How did this boy manage to sneak in here? By best means, he did not recall him on any cameras.
KID obviously wasn't pleased to see him, and yet the unruly hair and european flair of the unknown guest had reminded Shinichi of something.

I already saw this guy...

Not making the impression of being bothered in the slightest, the boy cocked his head to the left and smiled, slowly reaching out to take KID's hand and hold it. What was even more surprising to Shinichi was the obvious lack of distrust KID displayed to this character, a sign they knew each other very well.
"You shouldn't be here- god now I have to cut things short...! What to do what to do..."
KID muttered, nervousity lacing his voice. He obviously didn't want anybody to find out about this boy. Who was he? Said one shot KID an encouraging smile and waited patiently for the former to continue his jogging.

Finally, KID took action and grabbed his hand tight before pulling him after him. Shinichi followed in silent distance, ready to make notes. He had to find out the boy's connection to KID, that was the most fascinating discovery since a while.
KID dragged the small boy with him for a good while until Shinichi lost sight of them for a good minute. Cursing, the detective entered the bathroom they had disappeared into, searching the stalls. There was no one. Where did they disappear to?

It wasn't until his gaze fell onto the vents that a thought crawled up into his brain and he cursed again, immediately crouching down in front of it to check. Yes, the screws were loose. Shinichi wanted to facepalm, of course KID was going to take this route. Now where did it lead to?

Shinichi pulled out his phone to check the plan for this building. Where did the vents lead? Knowing Kaitou KID, he probably wanted to reach a quiet spot.
With the gem already aquired, Shinichi had to step up his game. All KID had to do now was vanish, he was playing with fire here. And yet, the detective kept up his smile, knowing that KID had stumbled over a large obstacle-
A person he knew.

And Shinichi made sure to remember his outlines just well. He couldn't have gotten a too close look but he knew this guy, from somewhere. Phone in hand, Shinichi followed his guts and ran as fast as possible to where he expected KID to be.
And to his satisfaction, he found him. Inspecting one of the windows, in the process of opening it, just when Shinichi heard it coming from the other end of the hallway.
"KID!! GET HIM!"
Eyes growing wide, Shinichi watched the armee of policemen run towards him from the opposite side of the long floor, and KID flinched visibly. He was shielding someone with his coat, most likely the boy.

Shinichi could feel the distress radiating from KID, and while he did feel worried, he knew this was the day. KID couldn't leave his company here, and the hangglider wasn't made for two. KID could barely carry him as Conan, there was no way he could carry a boy the same age as his.
Above all, Shinichi aimed with his phone while he ran, trying to get a good shot of the boy hiding within KID's coat.

That was the moment it happened.

Kaito felt nervous, as nervous as he had never felt before. He had to save someone who knew his identity, and had followed him here. He couldn't carry him out by himself with the hangglider, and there was no other possibility. Sleeping gas? An option, and yet it would also knock his company out. He wasn't sure if he could afford that.
Movement below his coat caused Kaito to stiff even more, he only had a few more seconds before hell was going to go down.

The boy was terrified to the bone. Shaking and shivering, he watched the armee of people run towards his friend. He rustled a little, looking back and forth between the stonecold face of KID and the other people.
Finally, he took initiative.

And Kaito could only watch in utter amazement as the boy clutched the gem in his chest through his shirt, raising onto his two legs. He stepped in front of Kaito, before his voice rang within Kaito's ears, so clear and beautiful yet full of determination and power.

"Morbus."

In a moment's notice, a scream echoed through the halls, coming from Kaito's surrounding hunters. All of them fell to the ground, clutching their faces, howling in pain.
"MY EYES! I CAN'T SEE!"
"MY EYES!"
"FUCK!"
