I Do

"Madame, the king himself has instructed me himself to be solely in charge of this affair," the duke tried reassuring Lady Tremaine as André and Dominique ran around the huge table and wondrous cake, eyes and grins big. "I assure you, I have it entirely under control."

"Oh, really?"

Dominique swiped at the cake and shoved it into his mouth greedily.

"It's perfect!" André squealed, loving it even more. He took a bouquet of roses. "They smell lovely." He inhaled deeply.

"Dispose of those roses at once," the mother interrupted. "André's health is quite..."

"ACHOO!" André interrupted loudly, sniffling.

"...delicate. I'm quite sure I mentioned that to you."

"Madame, I do not..."

"Quite sure."

Sighing, he continued hesitantly, "Yes...well, perhaps the young men would like to sample the hors d'oeuvres?"

They looked at all of the food, Dominique going to shove everything he saw in his mouth.

"Your Grace," Lady Tremaine interrupted. "A word."

Groaning, he turned with the biggest, fakest smile.

"These perpetrations are entirely unacceptable..."

While she continued to complain, André watched in disgust as his brother shoved his face. "What a pig."

Growling at him, he took the apple out of the roasted pig and shoved it into his mouth. "Who's the pig, now?"

He spat it back out at him, only stopping when the duke looked around to check on them.

"You call this a cake? This wedding must reflect my son's elegance. Dominique will be singing at the ceremony."

"Gah! Are you sure that's a good idea?"

But once he was gone, Dominique spat food into André's face. Angrily wiping up off, took a fried fish that Lucifer was trying to eat and flung it at his brother.

-

"Oh, wait 'till you meet him, Dad! He has everything! Breeding, refinement..."

"Yes, yes," F/n chuckled as the princess opened up the door...only to be nearly hit with some green substance, the duke running around like crazy.

"No!" he cried as the cake toppled over.

Leaning in, F/n whispered, "Are we in the right room?" Angrily, he stormed towards the duke, who was hastily picking everything up. "YOU! How could you let this happen?!"

The duke chuckled nervously. "Don't mind this. I shall have it cleaned up in no time."

"See that you do!" He boomed, leaning in closer, menacingly. "I want this wedding to go off without a hitch! Otherwise..." He dragged his throat across his finger, still overprotective of his precious daughter, even if she was getting married.

The duke dropped to his knees, pleading, "Oh, no, sire! I can explain! I, well, you see..."

Finding a way to get the duke out of trouble, Y/n helped André up and away from the mess, cake still on his head, introducing, "Father, allow me to introduce you to my fiancé, André."

"It's an honor, Your Majesty." He leaned forward in a bow.

"Charmed, I'm sure." He held out his hand, the cake on top of André's head falling into it. The duke offered a tray for the king to put it on, but he instead wiped it on the front of his shirt.

"So...who's up for a dance?" Y/n asked awkwardly.

-

The composer rushed in with his sheet music as the two families followed behind. Lady Tremaine grabbed her younger son by the shoulder and pulled him back, hissing into his ear, "Your little escapade back there could have cost us everything! Don't ruin this!"

He gulped, approaching Y/n, the shoe still on one foot and his regular loafer on the other.

"Go get em, Twinkle Toes," Dominique snickered from beside his mother.

Y/n and André faced one another, the redhead looking down at his feet. "Oh, I don't dance much..."

"You're too modest," she giggled in return. "That's how we fell in love, remember?"

Awkwardly smiling, he corrected quickly, "Oh, right! Of course."

"I'll never forget when I first touched..." She reached out for his hand, looking down, her smile fading. Something was off... "...your hand..."

She pulled away for a minute as the music started up, looking at André's smiling face. Trying to shake it off, did let him take her into a waltz, clumsily stepping around, accidentally on her foot.

"Oh! I'm sorry. It won't happen again."

It did.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm sorry...oh!" He fell forward, accidentally tearing off her sash. "I'm sorry..."

The music stopped as he looked at the torn cloth in his hand. "Oh, dear..."

"Are you okay?" Y/n asked, concerned.

"Oh! Oh, sorry, these aren't my shoes...I mean...what am I saying...? Of course they're my shoes..." He sighed, dropping his arm and head. "Oh, I just don't know what's wrong with me today..."

Y/n took the sash from him, trying to console, "Oh, no, no, it was my fault. I'm afraid I'm just not up to date on the latest dance steps."

Hearing her say this, his face lit up.

"Your Highness, if I may, um, see you for your fitting?" Y/n heard herself called.

"Oh. Oh, yes." She gave one more smile to André. "This was fun. Thank you. Well...if you'll please excuse me."

She left the room to get her dress fixed.

"Well," Dominique said, coming up from behind him, snickering. "No grace, no poise. Other than that, it was lovely."

But his words fell upon deaf ears as André looked out after Y/n dreamily. "She was...nice to me..."

"That's because she's under a spell," the elder replied, his hands on his hips. "She'd have to be to fall for you."

Instead of responding with something nasty, he just said with a slight head turn, "It's more than that."

On top of the balcony, they heard the king's booming voice call, "Miss! Gentlemen! I need to speak with my future son-in-law immediately!"

Lady Tremaine elegantly picked up her dress as the other two strode behind her.

"Alone!"

As André gulped and made his move, Dominique whispered to his mother, "Let's make a run for it while we can."

-

"No, Princess, Princess, I'll have a dozen dance instructors sent in immediately," the duke offered, trying to regain some kind of respect.

"Something's wrong..." she mumbled, my really paying attention.

"An army of dance instructors!"

"No, no, I thought...why, I was sure it was André last night, but...well, just now, when I touched his hand, I felt..." She looked at her hand, sadly wondering if she had made a mistake. "...nothing..."

-

"Oh, I can explain everything, Your Majesty. I have this...this inner ear thing and..."

The king interrupted André with a chuckle. "You, my boy, are a dreadful dancer."

Sighing, he said, "Yes, I know, Your Majesty..."

"Reminds me of my queen." He gestured towards a beautiful woman in the front, stumbling around, but still grinning, a younger version of him in the back, tripping over her. Her smile was bright and hair a vibrant m/h/c.

"She trod on my feet, too. But she took very good care of my heart." He waved him over to the balcony. "Come here, son. I want to show you something."

It overlooked the entire kingdom in a breathtaking view.

"A prince is bestowed with many riches. Land, jewels, horses...but today, I wish to give you something much more valuable."

Hyped, he watched as F/n pulled out a small box, which only made him disappointed when all that was in it was a seashell. Trying to hide the disappointment, he just said, "Oh..."

"Isn't it lovely?" the king asked, fingering it with a smile.

"A seashell?" he asked, trying not to sound too rude.

"This was the queen's most treasured possession. We found it while walking by the water the day we met. You see, we reached for it at the same moment. And when our hands touched...that's when I knew I had found true love."

André looked at his own hand in awe. "You knew just by touching her hand?"

"There's no more powerful force in the world than true love." He placed the seashell in the boy's hand, cleared his throat, and turned back to look outward, saying in his normal, authoritative voice, "Well, that's all. Run along, now."

Looking at the seashell lovingly, he whispered, "Thank you, Your Majesty."

He made his way back to the balcony, looking at the seashell as he walked on down.

"I do..." André said as he passed by a mirror, bowing. "Oh, I do...I do...I do...I really do...oh!" he cried when two butterflies flew near him. Laughing aloud to himself, he ran to the balcony, looking on out. "Oh, I do!"

André:
Now there is finally someone to love me
She'll show me a world that I never knew

He took a handful of flowers from one of the vines.

André:
With two simple words, all my dreams will come true
I do, I do...

He placed them on the railing, not noticing they were blowing away in the light wind.
