The evening had been one of fun, excitement, and laughter as Remus got together with all of his friends for a game night. They'd been going for hours now, never a dull moment in the room. Patton and Remus being together was a disaster from the very start. Everyone knew it was, and prayed for their sanity the moment the two balls of energy teamed up. Both of them had been especially energetic, bouncing around, cracking jokes, and getting overly enthusiastic about every little thing.
Nobody minded though—they brought a charming sort of lighthearted chaos to the group, and everyone loved them for it. Remus even toned down his own jokes for the sake of Patton, staying on a dirty-joke free path for the night. Logan noticed the effort from his boyfriend and made a mental note to thank him for that.
But as the night wore on, it became clear that the energy was starting to take its toll on Remus. He'd been drinking soda after soda, laughing, and losing track of time. Logan knew that his boyfriend was going to crash heavy sooner or later. Maybe that was a good thing. He already looked exhausted.
Roman joined the chaos that was Patton and Remus, and while it was fun to watch, it was also nearing 2am, and Logan was worried his neighbors were going to file a noise complaint. Aside from that, Janus and Virgil were both sitting off alone across the room. Virgil was clearly exhausted, and Janus was letting him lay on his chest.
Logan made his way over, nodding to them, "be careful. You know how jealous Roman can get" he joked lightly.
"I've been Virgil's best friend since we were in diapers together. If Roman thinks he can swoop in and take him away from me after only four years, he's wrong" Janus said, narrowing his eyes as he glared at Roman from across the room, "besides, Virgil likes me more."
Logan laughed, sitting down beside them, "this platonic relationship you guys have is going to end up making Patton jealous too."
At the mention of his boyfriend getting jealous, Janus smirked, "that would be so funny."
Virgil cracked an eye open, "He's gonna have to fight me for Jan. He was mine long before he even met Patton..."
Logan shook his head with amusement, "Virgil, you are so tired it's not even funny."
"I'm not...'m not tired. I'm Virgil..." he trailer off as his eyes fluttered shut again. He went limp against Janus, and he and Logan bursted into laughter, catching the attention of his other friends.
"Janus!" Roman yelled once he'd noticed, "get my boyfriend off of you, oh my god?!"
"Not my fault i'm the favorite" Janus shrugged with a smirk.
"If I didn't know any better, i'd say Virgil and Janus look more like the couple" Remus joked, just to add more fuel to the fire.
Patton rushed over to Janus, "No! See, this is why a lot of boyfriends are toxic, we can't compete with the childhood besties!" He cried.
Logan looked over to Remus, rolling his eyes fondly after seeing that he was in his own little world, not even noticing what was happening. He kept on shifting his body weight, and pulling a face of discomfort. Logan began to worry that he was getting overwhelmed by everything going on, but before he could go over and question him, his attention was quickly captivated by Roman trying to take Virgil from Janus's arms, and then dropping him.
Virgil woke up from that, completely shocked, as he fell on his arm wrong, "Ow, what the fuck" he groaned, wiping his eyes as they welled up with tears.
Roman had went silent in guilt, Patton had both hands covering his mouth with worry, and Janus's jaw dropped, "Way to go, dickwad! You dropped your fucking boyfriend!" He exclaimed.
"Am I that heavy?" Virgil asked, trying not to smirk, "damn. Good thing I skipped dinner, then. Time to fall back into old habits."
"What?! Virgil, oh my god, no! No, I only dropped you because Janus was fighting me!" He exclaimed.
Virgil bursted into laughter, and Logan let out a sigh of relief. Logan rolled his eyes, "well, this wouldn't be a sleepover if Virgil didn't somehow get hurt. It's like a tradition at this point."
Roman watched as Virgil sleepily crawled back into Janus's arms, "I'm still tired, leave me alone!" He whined, "Janus is warm..."
"Wait, no! We are not skipping over the fact that you didn't have dinner. We were so distracted that we didn't even notice" Patton chastised, "really, Virgil, you have to eat!"
Logan truly did believe that Virgil had simply forgotten, so didn't join in on the lecture. Virgil wouldn't do something like that, not anymore.

Remus didn't need to be told twice when Logan said it was getting close to bedtime. Patton and Roman had groaned, complaining about how it was 'barely 3am' but Remus had to admit that being a goofball, or trying to be the life of the party was exhausting. He was too tired to really notice why he had been squirming the past two hours, but if he wasn't crashing so hard at the moment, he definitely would have noticed his bladder was practically begging for release. He was in no better shape than Virgil, in terms of sleepiness.
Speaking of, Virgil was more than happy to be scooped up into his boyfriend's arms and taken to be laid on the couch. Janus was not happy to have his cuddle companion taken away, especially not after Roman stuck his tongue out and flipped him off, mouthing the word 'mine' to him. Roman tucked Virgil into the couch with a blanket, kissing the top of his forehead. Virgil smiled, still half-asleep and latched onto Roman's hand, kissing his knuckles before he collapsed into sleep.
"That was adorable!" Patton gushed quietly, "awwe, my sweet, precious kiddo!"
Roman blushed deeply, a small smile on his face as he held his hand to his chest. He hadn't expected Virgil to do that, but he was flustered now, and glad that he'd done it. He could probably tease him about it later.
"Okay, I guess since Roman and Virgil are gonna crash on the couch, Janus and Patton can have the guest room. Me and Remus will take my bed" Logan explained, "everyone have a good night. Janus, make sure Patton doesn't stay up scrolling on tiktok until 6am again."
Patton gasped, "what! I—"
Janus's laughter cut off whatever excuse Patton was about to come up with. He clapped a hand on his shoulder, guiding him to the guest room, "that's right, mister. You're going straight to bed. It's been a long day.
Logan shook his head fondly, before disappearing with Remus into his own bedroom.
Remus, unaware of how full his bladder had gotten throughout the night, collapsed into bed without a second thought. He hadn't even registered closing his eyes, but before he knew it it, the warmth of the bed, the softness of the pillow, and the comforting sound of Logan's heartbeat had lulled him into a deep sleep.

When Remus woke up hours later, the sunlight wasn't even streaming through the curtains yet. He wondered why he had woken up so early, but as he rolled around to face Logan, the first thing he noticed was the feeling of wet pajama pants clinging to his thighs. His heart skipped a beat, panic surging through him as he realized what had happened. He was soaked.
His eyes shot wide open, and he was fully awake now. With trembling hands, he felt the sheets beneath him. Soaking wet. His vision was blurred with tears as he reached over Logan's bedside table to turn on a lamp. He surveyed the damage and his throat went dry. It was bad. Really bad. Thinking back to earlier in the night, Remus realized that he'd been so caught up in the fun of everything, that he had neglected his bladder. He went several long hours with no break, and that, coupled with the packs of sodas he went through was bound to end with a puddle.
He cursed himself as he shifted. What was Logan going to say?
He froze as a rush of humiliation hit him like a wave. His heart hammered in his chest, a mix of embarrassment and dread settling in his stomach. He frantically looked around, his mind racing. God, Logan. He had wet his boyfriend's bed. What was he going to do? How was he going to explain this? The scent of urine was unmistakable, and his body trembled as shame flooded him entirely. He hadn't meant to fall asleep like this, with a raging bladder, but there he was, laying in the aftermath. The situation felt hopeless.
Remus tried to get out of bed quickly, but his legs were shaky, and he stumbled as he stood. He felt the tears well up, and before he could even try to come up with a reasonable explanation as to why he had pissed the bed like toddler, Logan was shifting in the bed, rubbing his eyes, still groggy from sleep. The moment he opened them, he was clearly confused as to why the light was on.
Remus watched as Logan shifted. Both of them froze. Remus realized his puddle had been so large that Logan was also lying in it. He cringed as his boyfriend's gaze landed on the wet spot on the bed, and his expression shifted, eyes narrowing with a mixture of confusion, disgust, and frustration.
Remus's whole demeanor shifted once he saw Logan's face. Shit, he was actually mad at him. He had expected frustration, sure, but he hadn't prepared himself for anger.
"Remus..." Logan's voice was rough, his tone sharp. "What...what happened?"
Remus's breath hitched. Usually this was the kind of thing he would do on purpose, just for a reaction. Just to make someone angry, or to be gross. But this had been a genuine accident. And Logan being mad at him—well, it felt horrible. He needed to speak up before Logan began to think he'd done this to make him angry, but the words just wouldn't come out.
"Really, Remus?" Logan groaned after he didn't say anything, "this shit is not fucking funny" he seethed, "can you please try to go one night without pissing me off?"
Remus's voice refused to work. He opened and closed his mouth, searching for something to say, but those words had cut deeper than Logan could've possibly known. To be himself was to be hated. That's what Remus had always been told, for his entire life. Logan was the first person to love him for how he acted, not despite it.
And now, Logan had basically just said that Remus pissed him off. Remus didn't like being annoying, he didn't like having a mouth that worked faster than his mind. He didn't like his intrusive thoughts. He didn't like blurting out crude jokes, but he just couldn't stop himself from being that way. And Remus had thought Logan loved him for how he was.
Remus had initially been able to keep his composure, but thinking more about what his words insinuated was his breaking point. One more harsh sigh from Logan was all it took for Remus to burst into tears, letting out a soft sob as he covered his face. Logan never spoke to him like that. Even when he was frustrated, or growing annoyed with his antics, he was never so harsh. Not with him.
Logan's stern gaze faltered as he watched his boyfriend break down into tears, "Remus?" He questioned, his tone much softer now. Clearly, he was coming down from his frustration. But the damage was done.
"I—I'm so sorry, Logan!" He cried, "I didn't mean to, I sw-swear, I just woke up like this! I—I, I didn't do it on purpose, I was just having too much fun to notice I had to pee, and then I was so tired I forgot to go before bed!"
Logan felt extremely guilty for snapping now. He had never made Remus cry before. He was pretty sure this was the first time he'd ever seen him break down like this, really. And his heart dropped knowing that he was the reason. Remus had probably already been embarrassed to wake up in a puddle, and for Logan to immediately berate him for it, and make him feel worse was not the right move.
Now that he was thinking about it, Remus had been squirming a lot that night. He wasn't very good at listening to his body, especially not when he was having such a good time. Logan felt like a jerk.
Not knowing what words to say to rectify the situation, Logan bought some time by moving closer to his boyfriend, pulling Remus into a tight hug. He was gentle now, his hands stroking through Remus's messy hair as he whispered an apology again. "I know, Remus. I should've been more understanding. I'm so sorry for yelling, I—I shouldn't have assumed the worst. I should have heard you out, and even then—this isn't a big deal. This can be cleaned very easily."
The weight in Remus's chest slowly lifted as Logan held him, his fingers gently wiping away the tears that still lingered on his cheeks. Remus clung to him, feeling both relieved and embarrassed at the same time. But in that moment, the warmth of Logan's embrace reassured him more than anything.
"Don't worry about this," Logan added softly, voice still full of regret. "We'll take care of this together. I'll help you get the sheets cleaned up. You don't have to be embarrassed."
Remus sniffled, looking up at Logan with tear-streaked cheeks. "Thanks, Logan... I'm sorry for causing a mess."
Logan smiled, still feeling the weight of the guilt heavily in his heart. "It's okay, Remus. It's not your fault."
Remus let out a shaky laugh, relieved that Logan wasn't angry with him anymore. "Guess I should've gone before bed, huh?"
Logan chuckled, brushing a hand through Remus's hair. "Yeah, but don't worry about it. We all make mistakes. Let's just get the sheets changed and then we'll get some breakfast. How does that sound?"
"Perfect," Remus said, finally feeling some of the weight lift off his shoulders. "Thanks for not hating me."
Logan gave him a soft, reassuring smile. "I could never hate you, you big goofball."
Remus bit his lip. Neither of them were very good at having the tougher conversations, but communication was very important in their relationship, and if Remus didn't get an answer to the question on his mind, he would overthink it. So even though he felt embarrassed to show so much vulnerability, he asked, "do I...really piss you off? Like, well—realistically, I know I do. I know I can be annoying. I can be too much, even for you. But, B-but I didn't realize it was so often. Every night? I try so hard to change. To be different, but I guess i'm just the same as i've always been, and—"
"Never change" Logan blurted, hating how Remus was talking down on himself. Remus hadn't done so many years of therapy just for Logan to undo all of that with one sentence, "not for me. Not for anyone. I love you how you are, and I always have. And i've seen your effort, especially with Patton, and even tonight, I—I don't know why I said that. I shouldn't take my frustration out on you. I just snapped. I love you, just like this" Logan explained, tears of his own forming in his eyes, placing a gentle kiss to Remus's forehead.
Remus felt tears prickling in his eyes, but tried his best not to cry again, "I love you so fucking much."
"I love you too, Darling. Now, let's get in the shower, and I promise we'll talk about this more. I...don't think what i've said is enough. You deserve a better apology" he kissed the top of Remus's head, before standing up and guiding him to the bathroom. Remus had already forgiven Logan, but figured he could milk this for some attention, so kept his mouth shut.
