Reverse Superfam?! (Teaching Jon the art of Big Brother-ing)

-I had so much fun with this!  requested by Hazelfraser25 -

-it wasn't supposed to be nearly this long, but I don't apologize-

Ages:

Damian - 24

Jon - 24

Conner - (appears) 16

*Rest of the ages are pretty predictable*

"I'm warning you, you missed a lot." Damian told him seriously, squeezing his hand a little.

"I mean, half a year... Everyone still alive?"

"Except Kent Nelson."

Jon frowned. "Aww! He seemed like a really cool guy..."

"Trust me, there are more upsetting things that have happened." Damian warned, pulling him into the mountains main room. The team was having a debriefing.

Jon looked back and forth between his father and the teenager in the black t-shirt. He had only been off world for six months! Half a year! What happened here?

He could see Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad. That made sense, maybe the league brought their Junior sidekicks in for an special mission. So who were the other three? A blonde girl, a teenager who appeared to be a martian, and... that kid in the black t-shirt.

"Uh... dad?" He asked his father.

"I know." Clark heaved a sigh.

Jon gestured towards the teenager. "So, what did I miss?"

Clark pulled his son over, a little closer to the teenager. "Jon, this is..."

"Conner." the boy said.

Clark gave the teen a look. "I remember your name, Conner."

Conner just stared at Jon, curious, but silent. Like a little kid at the store who just saw someone with dyed hair.

"Hi, uh- Conner?" He said. Conner continued staring forwards at him. "How do you... know us?"

"Conner was cloned from my DNA." Clark explained. "Kryptonian and human DNA spliced together."

"Oh." Jon said quietly. "So, your DNA and a human surrogate...?"

"Lex Luthor."

Jon's eyes went wide. No wonder there was tension between the them. "So, he's like if you and Luthor had a kid?" he asked. "Like, my step-brother or something?"

"If you want to call him that." Clark replied.

Jon's face lit up a little. "I HAVE A BROTHER!" He exclaimed, throwing his arms around Conner, who started violently. Jon lifted the teen off the floor a little in a bear hug.

Conner did NOT like being picked up. It made him feel small and weak, and his fragile masculinity was not okay with that. He kicked his capture.

Clark reached over and forced his kid to put the other down. "Slow down!"

Jon set him back down on his feet. "Sorry, I've just always wanted a little brother, but Nightwing always got all of them!

"I don't know why you were so jealous." Damian grumbled.

"I'm sixteen, I'm hardly a 'little brother' to you."

"I mean technically..." Wally interjected. No one liked it when Wally interjected. It was usually either to say something incredibly dumb, or to nitpick and undermine your point. "Technically, he's only like six-and-a-half-months old."

Jon's eyes lit up, causing his boyfriend to groan preemptively. He grabbed Conner's shoulder again, looking beyond excited. "A Baby Brother?!"

"Can you tell this is something he's always wanted?" Dick asked his friends.

"Be careful with that one." Artemis called. "He's got twice as many daddy issues as the rest of us."

"Get off." Conner removed Jon's hand.  Why was this Superboy so friendly? He just accepted Conner's existence without question, completely moved past his relationship to Luther, didn't question Conner's motives in existence, and was trying to declare family ties, in five minutes?

"Sorry. It's been a while, I need to catch up with the family." He grabbed his father and new younger brother, and pulled them through the hanger door, which opened onto the mountain

"Where are we going?" Clark asked his son, he was so glad his real offspring was back.

"I've been off world forever; I'm starved! Let's head into Happy harbour and get something to eat." Jon suggested. "And you guys catch me up on the past six months!"

"Oh." Conner muttered. "Okay."

Jon took a few sharp steps across the grass and kicked off the ground. "Alright, c'mon!" He waved for his family to follow.

Conner froze, suddenly struck with shame. He really didn't want to admit to his new...brother that he hadn't developed the way he was supposed to. It wasn't life or death, so he didn't know why it upset him so much. This was the first kryptonian to accept him, he didn't want to sick out so obvious by not having the right powers.

Their father didn't seem to hold the same reservations. "Actually, Conner can't fly."

Jon frowned a little. "Why not?"

"Splicing Kryptonian and human DNA changed his genetic makeup, he just won't develop some of our powers." Clark explained.

"Huh." Jon remarked, looking to his new little brother again, but Conner's glare was firmly lowered at an angle where no one could catch his eye.

"Whatever, let's just walk." Conner grunted, striding towards the team's most frequented trail to happy harbour. He was pissed, who gave Superman the right to rattle off his medical history like it was public knowledge?

It was privet! Sometimes Justice League treated him more like an object that couldn't hear or understand them! At least Clark didn't bring up Luthor's gene-suppressing patches, but that below the bare minimum.

"On foot?" Jon asked. "That will take at least half an hour." He floated ahead of his new kid brother. "We could get there in just a few minutes."

"Good for you."

"I'm saying that I could give you a lift." He offered. "eh? Let your brother carry you?"

"No." Conner barked, face burning. He continued to storm down the path.

Clark looked up at his son. "It's not you, he's always like this."

"Always?" He asked.

Clark hesitantly followed where the youngest had stormed off. "Conner wasn't designed to think for himself, or make emotional connections. He hasn't developed normally..."

"That's a little ablest." Jon argued. "Plus, people-including Bruce- said that about Damian for the longest time, and you agreed that he still deserved love!"

"I guess I did." Clark sighed. Everything he told Bruce concerning Damian kept coming back to bite him.

"Come on. Let's see what restaurants are still open."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's great! He's honestly kind of adorable, and he's so honest about everything!"

"You're still in the honeymoon phase. He'll betray you."

Jon and his boyfriend were in his old bedroom at Kent HQ. Damian was sat on the bed, watching him deliberate over all of the two button-ups he owned.

"Well we don't live together, and he's a still kid, so I'm not sure what issues we could run into?"

"They'll be some." Damian told him.

"Well I'm not that stupid, I know it won't be perfect, but he needs me!" Jon justified, choosing a shirt, and tossing the other on his bed. "What is Bruce already had a much older kid when you came into the picture? He could've helped you find the extent of your powers, and kept you company."

"It would've made me a lot weaker today."

"Then who are you setting Dickie up to be?" Jon finished buttoning up his shirt and flopped onto the bed next to him. "Conner needs someone to mentor him, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who can do it."

"And I'm here incase you fail."

"That's a depressing way to say you're here for moral support." Jon pushed his boyfriend a little. "C'mon! He's going to be here soon!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Wait-"

"M'gann! Stop playing Ken-doll with him." Dick called, skipping over to join his friends.

"Sorry! It's just really Big! I'm so excited for you!" The martian bubbled, adjusting his shirt collar. "There! Perfect!"

"Your dad doesn't deserve perfect." Artemis told her friend. "I don't know why you want to forgive him! Your dad's an asshat, your step-mom knows about you, but has never tried to reach out, or hold your dad responsible..."

"I think it's admirable that you want to reconcile with your family." Kaldur told Conner, encouragingly. "But promise me you'll be careful?"

Dick checked his phone. "Okay, My brother Tim will meet you outside the metropolis zetatube at five to give you a lift over."

"Don't worry, Tim's the less-scary one." Wally told Conner.

"Plus, My oldest Brother Damian will be there the whole time if something goes wrong."

"He's the one who's dating Jon." Wally added.

Conner threw his hands up, almost covering his ears. "Stop. This is a lot."

"Just remember not to open up emotionally! He'll take any opportunity to hurt you again!" Artemis commanded her friend.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Again-" Lois stopped Jon on his way downstairs. "Conner Kent?"

"Conner Kent."

"Any middle initial?"

"I... don't know? I don't think so." He looked at Damian, who also shrugged.

"Okay. And sixteen, so he's in eleventh grade, Happy Harbour High School?"

"You've been doing homework." Jon remarked, he didn't even remember What grade Conner was in. He wasn't sure if he'd even asked...

"I'm a journalist." She told her son. "I'm also about to meet my stepson for the first time, so if there's anything else I need to know...?"

"I don't know." Her son admitted. "Oh-  he has a dog."

"A Wolf." Damian corrected.

"Yeah, a Wolf! He looks like a giant Krypto."

"Alright, he has a dog." Lois remarked, just as there was a knock at the door, and a slight crack from the wood. "That must be him."

"Great- hey, don't expect him to be polite." Jon told her. "Don't press conversation too much, and he might not get etiquette stuff."

"Please, Jon, I raised you." She strode across towards the door.

"Heh, great." He laughed a little. "But no expectations for etiquette, he might just want to stop talking."

"Got it." Lois brushed her hair back a little, took a breath, and unlocked the door. "Hello?"

The sixteen-year-old froze up a little. "Uh... I- Hi."

"Conner, right? Come in." She stepped aside, holding open the door. Conner entered, taking in his surroundings. "Come into the livingroom, Dinner is almost done."

"Okay." He let himself be guided into the next room like a lost child.

"Hey! Conner!" Jon waved him over.

Conner felt a tiny wave of relief: those were people he knew! "Hi."

"Sit down! Do you want a drink?"

"No." Conner sat down on the couch. He was on edge, but you wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't know him.

"I see you've met mom." Jon remarked. "Mom, Conner. Conner, Mom."

"Yeah." Conner muttered.

"You can call me Lois if you'd prefer."

"You can also call her 'hey you'... That's a joke." He clarified, since he wasn't clear on whether Conner got it.

Conner sat there, looking around him shyly. "Where is he?"

"Clark is just upstairs." Lois told him. "I'll find him. Dinner in ten, boys." She slipped out, jogging up the stairs to tell off her husband.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conner hadn't been asked so many questions since he was first freed from Cadmus, except these questions they all so personal! 'where do you go to school?', 'what are your electives?' , 'do you like sports?', it was overwhelming!

"When they had to clone superman with human gene splicing, so I would be able to follow a moral code, and not just attack." He explained, uncomfortable as to where their current line of questioning was going. "Their first clone, Match, was completely like you," He told his new brother. "So he was unstable."

"Conner." Clark warned. Conner famously didn't understand the concept of 'being polite'.

"What?" He asked.

"It's fine." Jon said quickly.

"Why do you call him Match?" Lois asked

Conner looked up. "Stop asking questions about him."

"Conner!" Their father snapped again.

"It's okay." Lois said firmly. Conner wasn't as difficult as he was made out to be, for someone who'd raised a child, it was nothing she was unfamiliar with. Even if at first glance you'd expect him to act like a 'normal'  teen.
"Can I ask why you chose the name Conner?"

"I didn't."

"Oh..." She waited for him to elaborate, but he didn't.

"So, where'd you get it from." Jon asked.

Conner shrugged. "M'gann came up with it?"

"Megan?" His step-mother asked, taking a second to eat. "I'm not familiar.

"Miss. Martian." Conner said.

"oh."

"his girlfriend." Jon explained.

"OH." She was honestly surprised. Conner didn't seem like the kind of boy to have a girlfriend.  "I didn't know that you had a girlfriend?"

"It's just a QPR." He brushed off.

Jon jumped in there. "Queer Platonic Relationship. Like Friends with benefits, but more wholesome."

"M'gann named me after the love interest from her favorite show." Conner said flatly.

"Oh. That's... sweet." He didn't reply, just eating. "Do you go to school together?" Conner nodded.

"They also live together in the mountain." Jon explained.

Lois frowned. "He lives at the mountain?" she turned to her husband. "Why didn't you tell me? He could've had Jon's old room!"

"I didn't want to force a new child onto you." Clark desperately tried to justify.

She gaped a little. "I said he should come over so we can to get to know him months ago! you said he didn't want to."

"We weren't getting along well then."

"You mean you let a child live out of an abandoned Justice League base for six months?" She snapped. "We could've housed him and his friend here! Lord know we need another kid in the house-"

"OkAY! " Jon jumped in before this could get worse. "Let's just eat. Food's great by the way, mom!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, go upstairs and process, don't mind me..."

Clark sighed, and joined her at the sink. "Let me help."

"oh, alright." She tossed him the dishrag. "Honestly, I don't know why you don't like him. Conner seems really sweet."

"I don't dislike him." Clark justified.

"Good, I'm going to apply him for that free internship." She mentioned.

"Why?" He asked. "He's doing fine where he is."

"Come on, Clark, he's your son. We should invite him in!" She told him stiffly. "Or would you rather that Lex Luthor kept him?"

"Of course I don't. We just don't get along"

"Well get along!" She told him. "He's your son- our son, now, and I can't believe tonight was my first time meeting him!" She frowned at her husband. "I think I'm going to ask him to come over and stay during spring break."

Clark sighed. "Okay..." She made more money, it was more her house than his to invite people in.

"Plus, Jon likes him, and if I can get Jon the brother he wanted without getting pregnant again, I'm taking it."
