Tim made kissy sounds, like you would to summon a cat. "Hey, I'm back!" He shook a portion of kibble into his hands and dusted it into the tank. "There you are, Data." He smiled.
Tim opened his laptop and went to his favorite pinned tab. An advanced instruction on proper Goldfish care. He liked to read it after a long day of work. He took Data's care very seriously. Do you know Goldfish can live up to ten years? Tim does now.
The bedroom rood cracked open. "Timmy?"
"Hi." Tim instinctively hid his computer screen, switching to another tab quickly. "What can I do for you?"
"Jay and I want to wrestle! Do you wanna wrestle?"
"Maybe later, Dickie."
"Okay!" Dick skipped out. Tim quickly jumped up and moved Data's tank to behind his window curtain. See, his family didn't exactly know he had a fish. Well, Alfred did, but none of the others.
There was nothing wrong with Bruce knowing, but Damian would definitely use Data as a hostage, or steal him for his menagerie. and Tim didn't want either of his baby brothers knowing about Data, they got so excited by animals, they'd kill him!
Meanwhile, Dick skipped back into Bruce's room, which had become their wrestling ring. "Tim says he'll come later."
"What?" Jason groaned, he didn't want to only fight Dick! Sure it was fun to defeat his little brother in under twenty seconds while he insisted that it was unfair and he could do better, but it got boring! He needed someone he could really fight. "I'll go get him." Jason hopped off the bed and ran to his brother's room. "COME ON! I WANNA FIGHT!"
"In a moment, Jay!" Tim called, preparing his bathroom. See, he'd just realized that he had to change Data's filtration system. "Don't come in."
"No!!! Come on! We have to go on patrol soon!" Jason complained, opening Tim's bedroom door.
Tim hurried back into the main part of his room. "Gimme a few minutes, I just have to do one thing!"
"What?" His ever impatient little brother demanded. He really wanted to fight Tim!
Tim paused. "Nothing... I mean-"
"UGH Come on!" Jason charged his older brother.
"Nonono, Wait-" The power of Jason's tackle sent The two of them flying across Tim's bed. The elder's back hit the window behind him.
There was a scrape and a slosh as the thick-glassed was knocked off the window sill. It didn't shatter, but banged off the floor and began spinning it's contents across the carpet and all of Tim's things.
"What's that?" Jason asked, pausing in his endeavors to playfight his older brother.
"DATA!" Tim shook Jason off of him and rolled over to see the carnage. Water and colourful gravel were draining across his floor. He whipped up his curtain and saw the small orange fish writing on the carpet by the half-empty tank.
Tim reached out and plucked the fish off the floor. He tried to pull the tank upright, but it was already too empty.
"Tim?" Jason asked, worried. "What's that?"
"SHH!" Tim hurriedly sat up! "WATER!"
Jason rolled off the bed and stumbled upright. Tim was using his serious-emergency voice. He looked around the room desperately. "HERE!" He grabbed a half-full mug of water off Tim's nightstand
Tim quickly dropped his fish into the water and staggered to his feet, sprinting to his bathroom, since the light was one. Standing over the sink, he squinted down at the goldfish, biting his tongue. "PleasePleasePLEASE." Data moved a little.
Tim let out a sigh of relief, lolling his head back.
"What was that?" Jason asked, following him into the bathroom. He stood on his tip-toes to look inside the mug. "Is that a fish?"
Tim nodded a little, catching his breath. "Yeah."
"You have a fish?" Jason asked. "That's awesome- I mean, I never knew that."
"He's a secret." Tim said. "No one knows about him."
"Not even Alfred?" Jason asked, wide-eyed.
"Well, Alfred knows about him." Tim admitted. "but Bruce doesn't know, and neither does Damian of Dickie."
Jason continued to crane his neck, trying to watch the fish. "What's his name?"
"Data."
"Cool."
"You almost killed him, Jay! I told you not to come in!" Tim scolded.
"Well I didn't know you had a fish behind your bed!" Jason argued, rolling back off the balls of his feet, hands on his hips. "Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"Cause Demon would kidnap him, and you and Dick would get excited and almost kill him. Like that!
Jason frowned. "Wouldn't that be Fish-nap?"
"Look you can't tell them about him. He's a secret." Tim told his little brother firmly, setting down Data's mug on the counter, far away from the edge.
"Okay, I won't tell." Jason agreed.
"Now since he knocked his tank over, help me gather up his gravel and plants." He tossed Jason a few towels. "Toss those in the wash when you're done."
"Jay!" They heard Dick call from the hall. "Is he coming?"
"Oh, yeah." Jason called. "In a minute!"
"Oh, okay!" They heard Dick skip back to the master bedroom to wait.

It had been about a week since the goldfish-tank incident, and Jason (Though he wouldn't admit it) felt pretty important to know a secret that not even The Batman, or Renegade knew.
"Hey." Jason yanked on his brother's sleeve. "Hey."
"What is it, Robin?"
"Did you feed him today?"
"Not this evening. I'm going to give him some flakes when we get back." Tim, currently Red Robin, replied.
"Can I feed him?" Jason asked.
"Maybe." Tim agreed quietly. "But with flakes you have to pre-soak them a little, and you can't give too much, cause he could literally eat himself to death."
Jason stared at him with wide eyes under his mask. "Really?"
"Yeah."
"Wow."
"What are you talking about?"
Both brothers started violently and whipped around. "RENEGADE!" Jason ordered their eldest brother. "Stop doing that!"
"What are you talking about?" Damian repeated.
"We're talking about... Nintendogs." Tim said quickly. "I found my old DS this week and he keeps trying to take it."
"What? -oh Yeah." Jason remembered as an elbow met his ribs. "He barely used his DS before now! He should give it to someone who doesn't have a DS! Like me!"
Damian looked at them, suspiciously, and left.
"See, that was too close." Tim told his little brother. "You have to keep him a secret."
"I know!" Jason replied. "But ca I feed him tonight?"
"Maybe, but maybe we should stop fighting and arresting these ones first." Tim held his current opponent against the floor and slid out his cuffs. "Robin, bad guys at six 'o' clock."
Jason whipped around just in time to duck a punch intended for the back of his head. "Thanks!" He took down his attacker with relative ease. "So can I feed him?"
"Sure." Tim sighed, getting up to cover for is brother. "I'll show you how when we get home.

Another few nights, and they were having dinner. Jason couldn't help but glance back-and-forth between the door and his big brother. Tim had even started letting Jason come into his room to visit Data since he was so excited.
"Jason?"
"Huh?" He looked up, a little too innocently.
"Finish your dinner, please, or you can't go on patrol."
"Oh, yeah..." Jason took a huge bite of his food.
"So what's on your mind?"
"Hmm?" Jason looked ip with his mouth full.
"Useually when you get like this its because you have a hyper fixation." Damian told him. "Except usually, you won't stop rambling about it."
"Nope. It's nothing." Jay assured.
"Is it a secret?" Dick whispered across the table.
"No! It's not a secret! It's not anything!" He said quickly.
"Jason," Bruce asked suspiciously. "What did you do?"
"Nothing!"
Jason..."
"I didn't do anything!" Jason shouted. "Why do you always assume I'm guilty of somethin'?"
"Because you always are." Damian said.
"I didn't do anything!"
"Then what Don't you want to tell us?"
"Nothin'!"
"Jason."
"Tim got a fish!"
Tim Rolled his eyes. "Runt!" He threw his napkin at Jason. "It was supposed to be a secret, genius!"
"They were pressuring me!"
"You have a fish?" Dick asked excitedly, eyes lit ip. "Can I see?"
Bruce looked confused. "A fish? Why is that a secret?"
"Forget about it." Tim grumbled.
Dick pulled on his sleeve. "What's his name?"
"His name is Data." Tim replied.
"Can I help feed him?"
Tim shrugged. "Sure. I was already going to supervise and let Jay feed him tonight."
"What kind of fish?" Damian ordered. "Do you even know how to take care of it?"
"He's a goldfish, and yes. I do my research!"
"Can I go see him?" Dick hopped off his chair, tugging Tim's arm excitedly.
"Dinner first." Bruce called to his son. Then Tim can decide if he wants to show you his fish."
Dick nodded, hopping back onto his chair. "Okay..."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim heard a knock at his door. "What?"
His door cracked open. "Hey." Jason said.
"Hey."
"Uhm." Jason kicked the carpet a little with his toe. "Sorry." He grunted. "Sorry that I told everyone about Data."
Tim almost wanted to laugh. "It's okay, Jay."
Jason looked up. "What?"
"It's fine. They were going to find out about him eventually."
"Oh."
"It's fine Jay." Tim assured. "It wasn't a serious secret. I was just being petty."
"Well..." Jason placed an oreo on his brothers desk. It was supposed to be part of his dessert, but he'd saved it. "There."
Tim took the cookie. "Thanks. But don't worry about it." Jason nodded and began closing the door after him. "Wait, Jason!"
"Uh huh?"
"You wanna help me feed Data?"
Jason's face lit ip. "Yeah!"
