While the dorms sat towards the bottom of the hill, far up a twisting path, hidden slightly by trees, is where the Head Master's home could be found. It was a simple cabin with high ceilings and the perfect accommodations for a single person. He'd lived here for countless years, making it so the building was packed with many of his beautiful possessions. Whether it be gifts from students or items from his travels, he didn't dare throw any of it away.
No one really knew that any of that existed, though. They were never allowed in his house. That's why when Chris' dorm mates heard he'd been invited to the Head Master's house for tutoring, they were pretty shocked. It, of course, didn't help all the "teacher's pet" comments, but he'd gotten used to those at this point. Per Kuza's request that morning, one of his professors walked him to the house.
As they reached the doorstep, Chris thanked him. Then he turned to the door. His stomach sank through the floor. He was excited to see him, but fucking nervous at the same time. Despite the relationship that had developed between the two, Kuza was still terrifying to him. Both because he was the head of the school, and because of the whole being a fire dragon thing.
Chris knocked on the door timidly. A moment later, Kuza answered. He smiled happily to see his love and welcomed him inside. "Make yourself at home." He said, "You look beautiful."
"Thank you..." Chris shyly muttered. He looked Kuza up and down, adding, "You look very handsome, too, Sir."
He chuckled, "We're not in school right now. You don't have to be so formal with me. Besides, I prefer Master." Kuza held back a smirk because he knew he'd easily gotten to his little crow. He continued on, "Let's get the studying done first, then we'll get to the fun stuff."
There was a large coffee table sat between the couch and fireplace. It was lower to the ground, as they typically are in a cabin atmosphere. Chris laid out his textbooks and notes. He sat down on the ground in front of the table and crossed his legs. Kuza had ventured off to the kitchen to get drinks while he'd gotten ready.
As he returned, a gentle grin rested on his face to see how precious Chris looked. Kuza set down a glass of sparkling water for him, having something a little more adult in in his own hand. Nothing strong, because he wasn't fond of the way it felt to be drunk around someone he cared about. He just needed a little buzz to take the edge off. No matter how old he was, he still got nervous around a new boyfriend. Never mind the fact that they'd already had sex once, the new romance jitters were still present.
The two sat together for over an hour working on Chris' science assignment. It might sound boring, but he loved when Kuza taught him things. He felt cared for and protected. Two feelings that were completely foreign to him before he came here. Finally, several complicated problems later, they could close up the textbooks for the evening.
"Let me get you a refill." Kuza spoke, grabbing both their empty glasses as he got up. He lazily pointed to the couch as he started to walk to the kitchen. "You can sit on the couch now. Unless you like the floor better."
"Depends." Chris replied, "But, yeah, I think I'll take the couch. My back hurts from the floor."
"How do you think my old ass feels?" He joked. Kuza returned to the living room, handing him a refilled glass.
"Can I ask... How old are you, exactly?"
Kuza diverted his eyes as he sat down. "Old." He muttered, taking a sip of his jack and coke.
"Are you the oldest animal spirit alive?" Chris asked.
"No, far from it. I might be the oldest alive right now, but I'm not the first to live. We know for certain that the very first animal spirit was recording in the early fourteen hundreds. Humans have found remains much older than that that they've dubbed as the real life vampires. They believe they could be over four thousand years old. I don't think they're vampires. I think they could've been the animal spirits of vampire bats."
"Well, that means you're not as old as I was worried you were."
He raised an eyebrow, "How old did you think I was?!"
Chris shrugged, laughing it off. "I don't know. There's recordings of dragons as far back as the biblical era and even before then. For all I know, you could've been around since the dawn of time. If you don't want to tell me an exact number, can you at least give me an idea?"
"Hm," He thought briefly, "I lost my virginity the same year New Orleans was founded. That same year, the pirate Blackbeard was killed. He was one of us, you know. The only known animal spirit to posses the soul of a kraken."
"I... I was about to say I didn't know krakens were real, but then again, I didn't know that dragons were real until I met you. Although, I've never seen you actually be a dragon."
"I'll show you one day, Sweetie. I haven't taken on full form in a long time. I try to avoid it, because even being in the middle of nowhere like this, I still don't like to risk it with the way modern technology is. They manage to catch every damn thing, and I don't exactly have a form I can take indoors."
"I'll probably look like the donkey in Shrek next to you." Chris so innocently muttered.
Kuza laughed, "I'm surprised you've seen that movie."
"Why?"
"You're still so young. I'll admit, one of the most painful yet amazing things for me is witnessing the different lifespans of my students. I mean you, you're so young. If you were this age as a human, you'd be in kindergarten still and would have a vocabulary under a fifty words. But, because you're a crow, your mind and body have developed so rapidly. It's remarkable."
"It also means I have a much shorter lifespan than a human. Or... You. You'll outlive me. I've thought about it before. Can I- Can I ask something that might be, I don't know... Too much to ask?"
Kuza gently brushed his love's hair out of his face. "Nothing is too much to ask, Beautiful."
"...Have there been others, before me? You've been alive so long, you had to have lo- cared for other people, like you care for me."
"Love." He dared to say the four letter word. "That was what you were going to say; Love. Everyone always acts like it's a timebomb. It's okay to say it. And, yeah, I have had past boyfriends and even past husbands. I did love them, but I loved them all in different ways. I don't want you to think you're any less than them. I loved them, past tense. I love you, present tense. You matter to me here and now, and in the future. Is that okay?"
Chris nodded, "Y-Yeah... Yeah, I just wanted to know. Not for a bad reason. I was just curious. You're really good at making someone feel wanted."
"I know how alone and scared all my students feel. You, though, you're special to me. While I don't want any of my students to feel alone, I want to take extra care of you." Kuza took both of Chris' hands into his. He sweetly pecked him on the lips. "Is it okay if I take a little extra care of you tonight, Baby?"
"Yes, please..." He nearly whimpered.
Kuza closed the space between them. His kisses were so good, you're think he was an expert. He never overpowered Chris to the point he felt overwhelmed, but he was dominant enough to turn him on. Their arms found their way around enough other in no time. Kuza pulled him into his lap briefly before using the position to pick him up bridal style.
Chris giggled a little bit as he was picked up. He was carried off to the upstairs loft where the bed was located. Kuza didn't dare drop him and instead laid him down very lovingly. It was then that he had a chance to notice all the white rose petals sprinkled on the black silk comforter. Kuza hit the light switch near the top of the stairs, turning off all the lights.
"There's a mirror above your bed." Chris muttered upon noticing it.
He laughed devilishly, "What else would you expect from me?" Kuza picked up a candelabra and ignited all five candles with just one small fiery breath. "I'll leave it up to you. I can leave the mirror, or I can switch to the skylight and you can look at the beautiful night sky while I'm making you feel like you're on cloud nine."
"I think I'll take the night sky option. I don't have the self confidence for the mirror." He said.
"We're work on that." Kuza winked.
He pressed a button on a panel in the wall. The two mirror panels slid away from each other, revealing glass underneath. A perfect window into the sparkling night sky had been revealed. It was so beautiful that a dreamer like a crow was almost too consumed by it to remember why he was here in the first place. Of course, no matter how far his mind may wonder, it was hard to ignore the ungodly being he now called Master.
