It was a few days after the gray feathers started appearing, Grian's wings were almost fully gray. Different shades where the colors used to be. He didn't know what to do so he just let them grow in. Plucking them out to make way for more.
Grian stood up from the wooden slabs he was just sitting on and stretched. A wave of tiredness hit him. It had been a week or two since he stopped sleeping right? He didn't know.

Grian decided to do his daily chores. He flew out of the alleyway and over to the G-train to collect the daily stocks.
He landed on the platform and walked up to the first chest. He opened it.
"Wake up"
Huh? Grian snapped awake at the voice.
"You started to fall asleep"
Grian looked up at the sky, was it night? No it wasn't. The voices were starting to talk during the day too.
"Hey Grian!" A familiar voice called out. Grian turned his head to the area where the voice yelled from. He saw Impulse jogging up to him.
"I was going to borrow a few things from the G-train but I saw you here and I wanted to say hi!" Impulse smiled.
"Borrow? Were you not gonna pay?" Grian joked.
"Yeah, Yeah I was going to pay! I'm a fair man! But Boatem hasn't seen you in a few days, what have you been doing?"
"Huh. I guess I haven't really been in publics view for a while. I've been uh-"
Grian lost his train of thought. What had he been doing? He shook his head.
"Hey, are you alright?" Grian snapped out of his head. He had been doing that a lot recently.
"I realized you have dark circles under your eyes. Your hair looks a little messy," Impulse pointed out.
Now that Grian had realized it he hasn't been paying attention to himself all this time, he hadn't looked at himself much either.
"Grian?" Impulse asked, "Have you been getting any sleep?"
"Sleep"
The voices called
"Sleep!"
The voices started to laugh. Could they do that?
"Sleep! Haha! Sleep is for the weak!"
"Sleep is for the weak! Sleep is for the weak! Sleep is for the weak!"
The voices chanted.
"What was that?" Impulse asked.
Grian realized he had zoned out again. He had focused on the voices in his head.
"Huh?" Grian replied a few seconds after. "D-did I say something?"
Grian thought to himself, Did I say those things aloud? Is that why they were louder in my head? I actually heard them?
"You mumbled something," Impulse answered.
They had a few moments of eye contact. Then impulse awkwardly said; "Alright well I'll go pay for my items before you yell at me." He laughed. "Try to get some sleep buddy." He patted Grian's shoulder and ran back to his current position.
Grian couldn't remember what he had been doing. He started to walk away from the train platform. Things were getting concerning, but sleep felt like a crime.
No it isnt, he realized. It's normal. Sleep is a natural human function.
What was with him lately? It was like a whole new person was taking over.
