14- Panels 🌙
Grian pulled on his cloak. He was still melting, but it wasn't severe. The sun could still shine even where he was covered. A slight light could hit his face. There was nothing that could cover that up.
Grian tripped, he caught himself just before he fell over into some bushes. Right. He was still walking through the forest. Probably not the best place to stop paying attention.
"Go!" The voices reminded him.
Grian shook off the quick catch and continued striding through the light trees.
It wasn't long before Grian reached Xisumas base again. Looking back where X had rejected him, the cyan rooves didn't seem so pleasant. He looked around to find a hiding place where he could sit and plan how to get the administration panels. He found a small space behind one of the buildings. There was another space behind the copper tipped castle. But, Grian thought he might get caught. If he could catch Xisuma walking in and execute his plan.
His plan. He didn't have one.
"An administraters panels are connected to the administrator. If you were to take them you are to somehow pry the panels away from the admin your stealing from. There are many ways, but a more common solution is finding what said panels are connected to, and taking it. Or switching consciousness with the admin," Voice said as if he was reading an article off Google. When Grian looked over to the pure white figure, he was just leaning against the building.
"I can't switch consciousness," Grian mumbled.
"Obviously." Voice scoffed. Grian rolled his eyes and turned his gaze to the ground. What could Xisumas panels be connected to?
"A connection to panels can be found through an object, clothing, accessory, or sometimes a certain emotion." Voice added.
"Xisumas always wearing his helmet. I've seen him take it off once when I was sneaking where I shouldnt have. A purple glow surrounded him once he took it off. Does that mean something?"
"That's a admin having their power disabled or enabled."
"It's definitely the helmet." Grian whispered.
"That was easy to figure out." Voice chuckled.
There was silence as Grian tried to figure out how to get the helmet.
"I say knock him out," Voice suggested.
"What?" Grian looked at back at it. "Won't he know someone did that?"
"No. It's quite easy to cover up tracks. Break a block from the ceiling, and replace it on the floor. He'll think that his roof was unstable."
"That's...actually really smart," Grian responded with a grin. Voice nodded.
Grian sat in the alleyway. Waiting for Xisuma to walk into the copper tower. Eventually, Grian finally saw the admin stroll into the storage area, looking like he was putting things away. Grian jumped up.
"How do we knock him out?! We didn't think this through!" Grian whispered quickly.
"Do you have a hoe?" Voice asked calmly.
"No! Who carries a hoe on them?!"
Voice groaned. He pulled iron out of no where.
"Why iron? Where did you get this?" Grian caught the materials when Voice threw them at him suddenly.
"I'm not even allowed to do that. Iron will work best. I'll going to go make something fall then spill something. Probably your water bottle that you keep in your inventory." Grian took it out to hand it to Voice. "What if he sees you?"
"He can't," Voice said smugly, taking the water bottle, tossing it up for a moment then catching it again. "That water bottle he can though. The moment I slip him, you knock him out with the hoe on the back of the head. I'm going to trip him in an angle where his helmet with slightly fall off. You hit him in the back of the head."
Grian nodded and looked back to make sure the target was still there. Positive. He was still sorting items.
Xisuma had closed the shulker. That's all the sorting he had to do for now. A shulker opened the moment a light breeze hit through the building.
Xisuma turned his attention to the box. He must have not closed it all the way. Liquid was falling out, was that where he kept his water bucket? He went to take a step to get closer to the box, when he slipped, he fell forward. He hit his head on the shulker in front of him, damaging his helmet. How hard did he just hit himself. It had all faded to black, like he fell asleep.
"It worked!" Grian exclaimed. "Do we place the block now?"
"No," Voice responded. "He'll think he hit his head too hard on the boxes and passed out. Go on, take the helmet now."
Grian hesitated. How did he get here? He backtracked on everything that happened. X was his friend. No. X used to be his friend.
At least he thought.
Grian took the helmet, the purple glow rushed over Xisumas body. The glow he once saw. Grian ran out quickly and flew away, to find a clear area to use the panels.
Wherever Grian went voice followed. Grian had sit himself up against a fallen tree. He slowly put the helmet on. It was big for his size, but he felt a quick rush of emotions. Adrenaline and power. A swarm of a few panels appeared around him, Grian took off the helmet, his hands still holding the inside. The glow didn't dissapear. Grian thought about Xisumas gloves. He must wear them to not be connected to the helmet when he takes it off.
Odd.
Who would want to leave a feeling like this?
Grian looked around at the panels surrounding him. They were transparent so he could still see Voice. Sadly.
"I don't know what these are," Grian mumbled.
"They're panels, dummy." Voice scoffed, "Administration panels? Come on, I know you've made your own smp. You've seen them before."
"No, what I mean is, I don't know how to use them. Evo didn't require so much administration panels or whatever. How do you even know about that server?" Grian responded.
"Whatever memories you have I share for my own." Voice smugly admitted. Grian rolled his eyes and continued to try figure them out. They were so confusing. If he clicked on one 3 more would appear. Like decapitating a Hydra.
Eventually, after a long wait, and patience, Grian was able to get to the main server control options.
Grian shakily clicked the day night cycle, a smaller panel appeared.
————————
Always day [ ]
Always night [ ]
————————
"Do it" the voices started to chant, "night!" was encouraging the demand for Grian to simply hit a button.
"What are you waiting for?" Voice asked. "Don't hesitate. He's the traitor."
Grian remembered now. Yeah. Xisuma would have done this himself, but he didn't care about Grian.
Grian clicked.
————————
Day night cycle deactivated.
All night enabled.
————————
The message appeared in front of Grian, he swiped it away. Grian stood up, still holding the helmet. He was going to return it Xisuma. Hopefully X would understand.
As soon as Grian came back to the building where he had knocked out the admin. He saw X sitting against the shulkers.
"Hi X!" Grian ran up to him, "I saw that you were knocked out when I came back to get something I had dropped when I left. I picked up your helmet because I didn't want anyone to steal it. I also brought you an ice pack." The lies slipped off his tongue like a second language. He tossed X an ice pack. Where did he even get that from?
"You're welcome" Grian heard Voice whisper.
X easily caught it, holding it too his head.
"Look, Grian I'm sorry. I hope you understa-" Xisuma had opened chat at that very moment.
Day night cycle deactivated.
All night enabled.
<Mumbo jumbo> X?
<BdoubleO> ???
<Iskall85> What's going on
<ImpulseSV> What??
Grian realized. That panel wasn't telling him what had been done. It was chat, wasn't it?
"Grian.." Xisuma said with an upset tone.
"Y-yes?" Grian awkwardly asked.
"What did you do?" He looked at Grian pulling the ice down from his head.
"Um.."
"We had an argument about day and night, about you hallucinating all of this! So you knock me out and steal my helmet to activate perma night?!"
"It's not a hallucination! I can prove it to you!"
"How?! Grian you don't understand, this is selfish!"
"You're the selfish one!"
"Me?! How am I the selfish one?!"
"You didn't care about what I was going through! If you cared, you would have at least considered it! Instead you went on talking about yourself and other hermits! Call a server meeting! You know how crazy things can get on this server! You could have done something!"
"You've never been more right." Voice laughed.
Grian looked behind him, the world he was just in faded to the empty void. The puddle ground welcoming his reflection.
"Why am I here now? What's going on?!" Grian's emotions fell from angry to confused.
"You have the helmet, Voice pointed out,"finish him."
Grian took a deep breath and heard Xisumas voice.
"Grian? Grian!"
Grian shook back to reality, seeing X shaking him awake to whatever happened. He put on the helmet and pushed X to the ground.
"Grian take that off before you mess anything else up! You don't understand what your working with!" Xisuma reached for the brit who was already working to find out to get rid of him.
Grian payed no attention to him. Grian swiftly found the server control options.
Grian found an easy way to erase X from his list of problems.
————————
Permanent Death [ ]
————————
Grian clicked without hesitation.
Permanent death activated
"Grian!" Xisuma shouted, "Grian, please! this is all your imagination. Calm down and we can fix this!"
Grian took off Xisumas helmet and tossed it on the floor. Just as X was about to reach to grab it, Grian blocked his reach with a sword.
"You're the selfish one! You want proof of my 'hallucinations?" Grian removed the bandages, to reveal the crescent moon replacing his eye.
"Grian.."
"What!?"
"You're crazy."
Grian took the sword and plunged it through Xisumas chest. Leaving the sword with a blood coating.
Grian and Xisuma made eye contact for a few moments until Grian realized what he'd done.
"X-Xisuma!" He shouted, dropping the sword,
"Wait, wait I'm sorry! I didn't mean too!" Grian fell the the ground, right beside Xisuma.
"That wasn't me! That wasn't me!" Grian felt he wasn't trying to convince X, but also himself.
Xisumavoid was slain by Grian
"Boohoo" Voice echoed through Grian's head.
"That wasn't me!" Grian screamed a final time, pounding his own head. The chat was exploding but Grian didn't even want to check it. He just felt empty. He wanted to undo what happened. It was an accident! He didnt want to do it, so why did he?
Grian felt the rocks fall down his face. The rocks that replaced his tears. The sun began to set. Setting into the endless night.
