Chapter Three

Darkness. Everything was dark and calm. And I was cold. Surely I had to be dead from the gun shot wound...surely. But I didnt feel dead. I felt suspended in air, just floating.

The dead floating feeling began to leave me and I herd noises. So many noises. A continuous loud beeping.

BEEP
BEEP
BEPP

I had to get up. But my limbs were so heavy and my inner wolf wasnt responding well. He was fighting off the drugs..wait drugs? I had to open my eyes. Had to get up. Had to get away. Run. I herd two females talking in the room but my eyes wouldnt open. Focus. I needed to get away. Now.

With every ounce of strength in my body I managed to open my eyes but they were forced open by the blinding light. I blinked to adjust to the bright room and flexed my fingers.

BEEP
BEEP

Where was I?

Beep.. beep

Was I safe?

BEEP BEEP

Ryan! Hes going to find me!

I snapped up quickly, regretting my motions instantly when I felt pain shoot in my side and warm blood seep from a wound. Great. I had to get away now.

One of the nurses had yelled in shock when I bolted away and broke something. But I wasnt too focused on that. I was more focused on getting the needles from my arms..

"Luna calm down please! You're going to open your stitches! " the woman with brown hair urged, trying to approach me.

My wolf growles from deep inside me, setting myself on edge. More then usual.

Dylan. Where are we?

My wolf spoke through my mind, his voice deeper then mine. But I didnt know. I didnt know where I was!

Dylan. We have to go. Run. Why arent you running.

Running....why wasnt I? Well that was an easy question. I was injured. Not severely. But I needed to focus that way I could heal. One woman left while the other kept talking. Saying to keep calm and that everything would be okay. They said I was safe. We didnt believe them. We dont trust them. Then the door opened again and someone new walked in.

(Elijah POV)

Time seemed to slow once I herd Alice's words. My mind was sliw to process the meaning but it seemed my body moved quickly to make up for it. Inside the hospital was a bit frantic but that was normal. Alice pulled me down the never ending halls but enventually it was me pulling her.

The door. White and simple with a small glass window on it. The number 9 was plated in black. The paint on the door was chipped in its upper left corner. But the doorknob was new. Holden in color and reflectinh my hand as I reached out to grab it. Ive stared at this door for so long...and just beyond it my love would be waiting for me. So I pushed the door open.

Blue. Such a simple color. The color of the sky. The color of the ocean. Some birds. A common color. But this was different. His eyes. Thats what I noticed first. Blue. Bluer then blue. Not sky blue and not navy. Vibrant blue. Shockingly so. And piercing. Like the very color could somehow kill me. And in a way I could feel his eyes shredding into my soul.

But as I stared in shock I noticed....they were scared. Very scared. My mate tore his gaze froom mine. No please give me the eyes again. They were too pretty to simply give up..

My mate looked around wildly before doing something unexpected. He grabbed the IV needle in his fore arm and ripped it out, repeating the process on the other arm. Or trying to. I quickly scaled the distance between us in 3 long strides and grabbed his busy hand, holding it up. What I didnt expect was a hard flinch and a scared whimper. My mate turned his face and gritted his teeth...like he was waiting for something. Why does he flinch from me so much? My eyes trailed up to my risen hand and then back to my mates trembling form. He...thought I would hit him?

I slowly lowered my hand, letting go of his wrist in the process. I reached out to touch his cheek, wanting to turn his face so I could see his eyes once more...however that didnt happen. Instead he flinched away, body tense. So my outstretched hand fell to the bed sheets in dissapointment as my inner wolf howled in dispair. Why couldnt I touch my mate!

Alice must have noticed my confusion and dispair because she stepped in, a gentle smile on her face. She pushed her brown hair from her face and beant down, holding out her hand.

"My name is Alice Embers. Im the head doctor of this pack. May I know your name?" She asked in a soft voice

My mate didnt utter a word, just stared with the piercing gaze. Alice didnt seem too fazed by this but I was. I waited 3 weeks to hear his voice. It was agony.

"Alright then. Well may I see your side? You were shot. Do you remember being shot?" She asked

My mate looked down at his side with a puzzled expression and touched the bloodied bandages. He shook his head after a few seconds. Alice reached out slowly and waited for my mate to give a signal that it was okay to be touched. My mate gave one quick nod and lifted his arms slightly. Alice went to work quickly while i stared at his abdoman and sides. Not in a lustful way. More of a protective way. I could see thin scars running up his chest but the white hospital shirt kept me from seeing it fully. I looked up at my mate only to see his gaze locked into mine.

Mate. Mine. Mine. My mate. Ours. All ours. Beautiful mate. Our beautiful mate. Mine.mineminemineminemine

My wolf howled inside and I agreed. He was stunning. And he was ours. But it seemed our mate was shy.

"My name is Elijah. Im alpha of this pack. May I know your name?" I asked, trying to keep my tone soft

The boy shrunk away a bit and looked away, biting the inside of his cheek and fiddling with the sheet covers.

"Not talking..Can you talk?" I asked hesitantly.

The boys eyes snapped up and formed a small glare as if saying 'no duh' and he rolled his eyes. Usually this defiant behavior would annoy me but...it just made me more curious.

"Okay okay stupid question.." I looked at the wound and back at him "you know you could have died. You were close to it. Even when we brought you in. "

The boy didnt acknowledge what I said. He just let Alice wrap his stomach up. We sat in silence for a few moments as the nurses busied themselves with repairing my mate. I noticed he was staring at the table where I put all of his flowers. And now looking at them...maybe I went a bit overboard. Only a bit. Three weeks was a long time and a new arrangement every day did add up. My mate reached out ignoring the fresh roses, my personal favorite, and touched the petal of a lily.

"Do you like lilies?" I asked, moving a little closer to him.

My mate didnt move away so I'm guessing he was too transfixed on the flowers. Slowly his hand moved from flower to flower until they got to the roses. His lip curled up in disgust, hand batting them away and making them fall off the table.

Instead of finding offense in this, I was happy! I knew something about my mate. He liked lilies, not roses. And he seemed to like flowers a lot. But only if he could tell be this... His eyes snapped to mine with confuaion spiralling in them, as if asking a question.

"I baught them for you....I was worried. You were asleep for 3 weeks."

Alice finished with the bandages and smiled softly to my mate.

"Come on ill show you the bath. You should get washed up." She motioned to him

And with that my mate was taken from the room, Alice in tow. As the door shut a breath i didnt know i was holding let go. A smile grazed my features slowly and I looked out at the sky.

"Moon Goddess. I accept this challenge. I wont fail you."
