4: Detention
It's quiet.
Very quiet.
The quietest it can be really
Only with six students filling the classroom, not knowing where to even look at, while the dean of the school checks over her work that she has to do on her broad desk - with glasses pulled to her face and silk black hair brushed back in a pony tail.
She would look nice if it wasn't for her nasty snarl spreading over her red lips - clearly showing she's anything but a people person.
Especially to teenagers.
After hearing a long lecture from her on how to behave in this school, subtly insulting the following students for not having the intelligence enough to act like proper students - it has just been silent.
Throughout the whole time, buried in this air of tension and discomfort, Jeongguk tried not to cry.
As a child growing up, he was always a very sensitive type of person. Anything can set off those water works, something as simple as someone calling him stupid.
He may be a teenager, but he definitely has the heart of a child.
So while the dean lectured them at the start while being here, he did start to cry.
Taemin noticed, since it's not hard to notice someone little going into a full blown mental break down, and he was bold enough to tell the dean for them just to remain quiet for the rest of this period, basically telling her to shut up in a polite way.
With his broken Korean, but that did get the message across because she did stop talking.
Surprisingly.
Yet that didn't ease Jeongguk down as he fought with everything to not sob a waterfall right now, with teeth snagging his bottom lip and tear eyes gazing to the desk.
He hates getting in trouble.
The thought they he has to be disciplined tortures him, and makes him feel weak and vulnerable.
But right now is not the time to go into hard sobs again, so he has to hold it in until the end of the period.
And it seems like he's the only one who's that emotional about all this.
The rest were just in their own zone.
Minho was fast asleep on the desk, finally enjoying the peace and quiet of not having to be in a classroom filled with other kids.
Woosung came prepared with a manga book in his backpack, and has been stuffing his nose into reading it.
Taehyung is doing homework, not really looking at all fazed with whatever is going on right now.
Jimin kept looking around the classroom, watching the time, playing around with a pencil between his fingers with it falling every once in a while.
Lastly Taemin was just fiddling with the track suit zipper that was given to them after that whole food fight, sighing or humming here and there.
He's so bored, it's torturing.
Moving his glare to the clock, seeing they still have an hour left, now that classes are over, he huffs and looks around the classroom to see how everyone else was doing before letting his eyes fall to the boy with pink hair sitting beside him.
Especially when he dropped the pencil again, now having it roll to Taemin's feet.
Jimin shifted his eyes to the pencil and to Taemin's sudden gaze, startling him with a sheepish smile.
"Sorry. Um.... Pass, please?"
His voice is like cotton candy, just like how he looks like.
Delicate, clear, and light.
Probably a little high, but that's likely because of his shyness to Taemin's slow grin twitching his lips.
Cute.
Quietly Taemin reaches down and takes the pencil, sitting up right to study it before extending it back to Jimin. When Jimin wrapped his delicate fingers around it, Taemin didn't let go.
Instead he leans over, "So, skirts huh?"
Jimin was not expecting that.
That much was obvious when his cheeks blazed from pink to red, lips parted in a bit of shock but bites his bottom lip to fight back a smile as he brings his eyes down and just takes the pencil.
He definitely got flustered alright.
But Taemin wasn't done.
He suddenly turns to the rest, crossing his arms to the back of his seat, "So we live together? Roomies?"
"Excuse me Mateo, you mustn't speak -"
"It's Taemin," Taemin sneers his eyes to the dean, "For you. Mateo are for those who are close to me."
Then he shifts his eyes back to the rest with a smile, "Look! We finally see each other!"
Taehyung huffs, turning the page of his calculus workbook to do the other side, "In detention."
"At least we met," And Taemin's eyes suddenly shifts to the sniffling boy to the corner of the classroom, frowning, "It's been hour. Why crying?"
Jeongguk only murderously glares at him, sniffling, before moving his lethal stare back out the window.
Yeah, maybe not a talker.
"Excuse me Taemin, this is detention, and the rules here are that you can't speak to each other and should only do work -"
"Hate to interrupt," Minho awakens from his slumber, yawning as he sits up with a cheek to his fist plopped up, sleepy eyes staring at the dean, "But you have falsely accused us of something we didn't do. Yet we're still here. The least you could do is let us talk."
The dean's eyes blazed, "You cannot speak back to me like that-"
"Check the school cameras," Minho proceeds to cut her off, narrowing his already sleepy eyes to her, "Or are you too afraid of accusing those rich kids while it's easier to blame us, foreigners was it?"
Woosung tried not to smirk from staring at his manga, now flickering his eyes up.
Dean's eyes remain angrily staring at Minho, while Minho continues to look back to her indifferently.
If anything with a sweeter smile on his lips.
Until suddenly the door to the classroom opens, revealing the principle with her glowing essence.
Ms. Kang definitely has a relaxed and softer expression than the Dean, especially when she looks over at the students with a polite greeting before looking at the Dean.
"May I speak with you outside for a moment?"
No one said a word as they watch the Dean nod back immediately, following after the principle - not before sending the students a murderous glare - and the door closes behind them.
And it was as though a puff of air was released from each of them.
Especially Jeongguk with his water works.
And Jimin's cotton candy heart couldn't handle it such fragile reaction.
He turns to look at the sobbing boy with a pout and took the opportunity to get to his feet, quickly rushing towards him and warmly wraps his arms around his shoulders.
Jeongguk didn't even push him away as he sobbed against his hands, accepting Jimin's warm embrace while feeling his fingers rubs through his soft hair.
"It's okay, we okay," Jimin assured him, resting his cheek against the crown of his head, "We roomies, we take care."
"Easy for you to say," Taehyung mutters, closing his work book with a sigh and eyes closed, cursing some French words under his breath, "I hate school."
"This school," Minho corrects back, resting his head back to the desk, "They are mean."
Taemin snorts to this, "Mean? They brutal," And he looks over to Woosung, noticing the man still engraved with his manga, "You pretty."
Woosung flickers his eyes up, noticing Taemin's stare at him, "Thanks."
"Girlfriend too."
Woosung abruptly puts his book down, glaring to a giggling Taemin, "Dude, punch you if you continue."
"Relax papi, wanted you to speak," Taemin defends himself, "Okay, so now we know each other. Good! Friends?"
"Yes!" Jimin suddenly pipes in excitedly, arms still around Jeongguk but with his head now perked, "Lonely everyday. Today Friday, explore?"
Taemin eyed him again momentarily with a twitching smirk, "Kinda want to explore something else."
Jimin's eyebrows twitched, "Hm-"
"Baka," Jeongguk suddenly huffs, placing a hand to Jimin's arm around him, reassuring him, "Don't listen to him."
A small frown once again forms Jimin's lips, "B-But want to explore."
Minho groans under his breath, laying his head down on the desk, "We don't know anyone. How are going going to explode?"
"Lost together! GPS!" Taemin suddenly says excitedly, "Out to eat? Yeah?"
Minho whines this time, "But sleepy-"
"You always sleep," Woosung suddenly chirps, putting his book away, "I go."
This had Jimin smiling as though he won the lottery.
A low whine once again eases out from Minho, lifting his head up, "Ok, but store after. Need to buy things for my room."
Now this had Taehyung perking his head up, "Shopping?"
"I mean, yeah -"
"Okay, I go," Taehyung immediately says, zipping up his backpack, "Need buy decorations."
Taemin had his fists suddenly in the air excitedly, now fixing his eyes to Jeongguk - who's also experiencing that expecting gaze from Jimin.
He didn't say anything for a long moment, but after he met Jimin's hopeful gaze he gave in and just nods, resting his head to his chest while now more calmed down.
Great! Roomies outing it is-
The door suddenly swung back open, stepping in both the principle and the dean.
Everyone now turned to face them, even Jimin lets go of Jeongguk to go back to his seat- but the ravenette didn't let go of his hand. So Jimin just sat on the desk beside him while holding tightly to his shakily hand.
The principle focuses to them with a small smile, "Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the whole misunderstanding, I was in a meeting while this was happening. We checked the cameras and saw that none of you were behind the start of the food fight. So I apologize on behalf of the school for falsely accusing all of you."
A big kick of weight flew out of their chest, except for when the principle suddenly looks at Taemin, "But I did see you slamming the tray to a student's face and that's not acceptable. Three days of detention for you."
Minho face scrunches up to this, "He was defending me. We've been bullied throughout the entire week! With things worse than a tray slamming to someone's face!"
"And those students will face the consequences to their actions-"
"Just like when I asked you for help and nothing happened," Minho finishes, leaning back to the chair, "If he's in trouble, me too. This is not fair."
Taemin slowly looks at Minho, slowly shaking his head, "No, okay. My fault. I face alone."
Minho did not seem pleased, but Taemin's pleading stare only remains before he stubbornly let's this go.
The principle stares between the two before sighing heavily, "I'll will discuss this with the board and I will get back to you six on Monday. Everyone else, no consequences. As for now, you are free to leave."
That was all that was all it took for everyone to gather their things while the adults exit the room, with Taemin releasing a happy yelp in the air when he shot to his feet, happily dancing with his hips moving a bit too -
Jeongguk immediately shields his eyes, "Ah! What are you doing?"
"Perreo my bro, perreo," Taemin ventures cockily before turning to the desk where the Dean was sitting by, running a hand on the surface before looking at Jimin, "You said room right?"
Jimin just put his backpack on before humming and turning to Taemin, "Room? Yes."
Taemin smirks mischievously and pats the desk, "Start bending over princesa."
"Huh?"
Taehyung came up behind Jimin and places his hands to his ears, glaring at Taemin from behind him, "Dude, what is with you?"
"I'm just a little flirty," Taemin chuckles to himself, looking at a blushing Jimin, "Don't worry, I'm not gay. I just tease a lot," He snickers with a tap to Jimin's nose before moving to the exit, "Alright pendejos, out for food!"
Minho yawns as he trails off behind the group, glancing back to Jeongguk - who was the last one to get off the desk and approach the door.
"You okay?"
Jeongguk perks his head up, jolting a bit back when he stood in front of Minho's incredibly tall form towering over him.
The guy looks at least two or three inches taller than him, yet he appears like a sky scraper.
That's intimidating.
Along with his beauty.
Jeongguk subconsciously gulps but nods briefly, "Yes, sorry. Cry often."
Minho eyed his puffy eyes, humming a little before reaching a hand over and easing out his mess of hair to make it look decent. Jeongguk completely froze, not being able to move muscle now as Minho tenderly threads his fingers through his soft hair before easing his hand back.
"It's okay. You're not alone anymore."
And with that Minho turns around, leaving Jeongguk to feel as though his soul ascended completely out of his chest.
Only thinking one thing alone as he softly smile, trailing behind his roommates.
He's not alone anymore indeed.

A/N:
Writing them like this feels so different.
In most of my stories in the therapeutic series Jeongguk is either too hyperactive or too monotone, but in this one he feels like a strict older brother but then again like a baby brother, who cries often.
Jimin usually is a badass character, or just neutral, but in this story he's more tender and softer hearted - rarely ever write his character like this.
Taehyung's character I could say is likely more studious in this story than the others, and more laid back and less emotional.
Woosung is taking more the role of being quiet and socially awkward kind of character, to which I rarely have written his character in this sense. More like a little geeky nerd type of way, which is quite refreshing to write about.
Minho is more reserved in this story, quiet yet when he speaks he's bold and direct. Unlike my other stories, where he was like a loud jock or impulse or expressive, he's more to himself and calmer, which is definitely very different.
As for Taemin - man, where do I begin. You can really see the different with him in this story compared to the other stories. In other stories he's more reserved or really sweet or just gradually builds up to be a bit badass. In this story he's just plainly no filter, outgoing, a bit chaotic - kinda like the happy pill within the group. I've never written his character like this, and I'm pretty excited.
This story just feels refreshing, like a whole new type of setting for the therapeudic series.
I'm pretty excited.
I PURPLE YOU!! <33
