looking back + sequel
If you're reading this, then you probably have read all of Moonlight. And if you haven't, then you might want to do that before you read this.
I wrote this story when I was fourteen to fifteen years old, and at one of the darkest points of my life. I used to suffer from suicidal thoughts, even going as far to attempt and also self harm, and writing this book was one of my coping methods.
I am now an adult, and I can't even believe how far it has come as a story, and how it still seems to resonate with so many readers, of all ages, even today. I have come a long way in terms of my mental health as well, and I am so happy to say that I am doing so much better.
I just want to say thank you to you, the reader, for hearing what my younger self had to say. I wasn't very good at speaking up back then, and I'm still not, but thank you for taking the time to read what I put out.
I haven't gone back and reread this story since I wrote it, and I haven't edited it much as a result. To be perfectly honest, I don't know if I ever edit it. The emotions that you feel in this story aren't meant to be edited, they're supposed to be raw and meaningful.
This story isn't supposed to be pretty, it's supposed to make you feel something. No matter what it is, I just want you to feel whatever it is that you're feeling. I think that's different for everyone, and I like it that way.
Anyone who read this story back when it was written knew that I was planning on having a sequel to it. Unfortunately, I just was going through a lot back then, and the sequel didn't get written.
I can now happily say that the sequel, Starlight, is officially out. The first few parts are up, and updates will be frequent from the time that it is posted.
It is written in a similar style to this book, including the fact that the chapters are written on a whim, and little revising is done before chapters are posted. I do that in order to keep the story as authentic as possible, because it is extremely important for this particular style.
I really hope you guys check it out and enjoy it, and maybe check out some of my other stories while you're at it. I know I am predominantly a short story author, but I did start writing my first full length story called Ignis Aurum Probat, which also deals with mental illness, but in a more dystopian setting, with some kickass characters and plotlines along the way.
I know, shameless self promo. But in short, thank you for 100k reads, check out the sequel to this story, and know that I am so thankful to all of you for all of your support. Much love <3
