Chapter 6

When Lightkit stepped into the ThunderClan camp, trailing after Hurricanestar, almost every cat that was still in the clearing sprang up and rushed over to her. Hollycloud reached her first, checking her over, sniffing her and covering her in affectionate licks.

"Where were you?" she yowled at Lightkit, suddenly wrapping herself around her kit.

"The bright lights brought Ace and I to RiverClan," Lightkit replied "And now Ace is called Stormpaw!"

Hollycloud nodded, burying her nose into Lightkit's fur. Lightkit purred, happy to be home.

By the time the sun was starting to go down, the patrols that had gone out looking for Lightkit and Stormpaw had returned, and Sparkstar had called a meeting.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled, her voice echoing across the clearing. Cats seated themselves in front of the rock, staring intently at their leader.

"I have seen that a few cats have shown extra bravery through today's strange events, and I think it is time we should appoint some apprentices. Lightkit, Brokenkit, step forward."

Lightkit could feel her heart beating, so loud she was sure that even WindClan would be able to hear it. She turned to Brokenkit, who's eyes were sparkling with excitement in the dying light of the sunset.

"Lightkit, Brokenkit, today you have both shown courage, bravery and determination, and I feel it is time for you both to be apprenticed. From now on, until you receive your warrior names, you will be known as Lightpaw and Brokenpaw, and your mentors will be Crowmia and myself."

She turned to face Crowmia, who was seated at the base of the Highrock, her eyes shining.

"Crowmia," Sparkstar mewed "You will mentor Lightpaw. You have received excellent training, and you have proven yourself time and again to be loyal, caring and strong, and I hope you will pass on all you know to Lightpaw."

Sparkstar jumped down from the Highrock and touched noses with Brokenpaw, who was fidgeting in all his excitement. Meanwhile, Crowmia padded up to Lightpaw and leaned in to touch noses with her. Lightkit couldn't believe that Sparkstar had chosen herself and Crowmia to be mentors to Lightpaw and Brokenpaw.

The Clan cheered, chanting the apprentices' new names with pride. Lightpaw sat back down and curled her tail around her paws as Sparkstar jumped back up to continue.

"I also feel the need to make a new warrior." she turned to gaze at Echopaw, who stared back, completely astounded by the fact that she was about to become a warrior.

Sparkstar rested her gaze on Echopaw for a moment then continued. "Silversplash, do you agree that Echopaw is ready to become a warrior?"

The black and silver she-cat nodded, then said "She has proven herself more than enough times."

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I, Sparkstar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her as a warrior in her turn." she turned her eyes back to Echopaw and meowed "Echopaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do." Echopaw replied, her chest starting to puff out in pride.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your new name. Echopaw, from this moment forward, you will be known as Echoblossom. StarClan honors your loyalty and strength, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan."

Sparkstar jumped down from the Highrock again to sit in front of Echoblossom. She rested her muzzle on the new warrior's head, and Echoblossom gave her shoulder a respectful lick.

The whole Clan cheered Echoblossom's new name, and her former mentor, Silversplash went to sit next to her for the first few moments of her vigil.

Lightpaw went up to Echoblossom to congratulate her, and Echoblossom nodded in reply, a twinkle in her eyes suggesting that she was just as proud of Lightpaw as she was of herself.

Lightpaw followed the other apprentices to their den, and chose a nest next to Jaypaw and Brokenpaw. She fell asleep to the sounds of the apprentices purring, and dreamed about Echoblossom.

I have some new OC's that have been submitted by my friend, HollowHeartStar, and they are going to be very involved in the story, just as a heads up.

Also, please don't submit cats with special abilities, since I've been submitted a lot of those. If the OC's do happen to have special abilities, I'll either decide not to use them or to just completely remove their abilities.

I don't really expect this to happen on here, but I've gotten quite a few on Fanfiction.net so this is just as a warning.
