Chapter 13
Lightpaw padded out into the sunlight. She was in a lush, green field, and a warm, flower-scented breeze wafted through the air. Lightpaw looked around her, finding all sorts of prey and and other animals.
She spread her wings, and lifted off into the sky, feeling as she caught a warm, low air current. She glided silently over the field, like an owl or an eagle searching for its next meal.
She flew on, flapping her wings to steady herself as she rose higher and higher, toward the sun. Soon, she found herself flying over a beautiful lake, it's water like glass. She flew lower, stretching out a paw to drag it through the cool water, sending little ripples off in all directions.
Lightpaw lifted her paw out of the water, feeling the sun's warmth on her outstretched wings. As she looked around her, she saw cats. Under the trees to her right were cats. Weaving through the pines were cats. Splashing through the lake were cats. Running around on the field were cats.
As Lightpaw flew closer, she recognised something about these cats. Each group of cats seemed to return to a camp of some sort, some of which closely resembled the camps in the Forest. Lightpaw could see as the cats gathered below a rock ledge, looking up at another cat, who puffed their chest in pride as they saw the group. Now it was clear to Lightpaw. These are Clans of some sort.
Lightpaw cruised away, heading west. She flew and flew, until she came to some kind of coast. The ocean stretched on forever, like in Lightpaw's dream. The sun started to sink, casting a beautiful, golden glow on the waves. Lightpaw remembered the dream, how she had been so dissapointed to wake up, having to leave such beauty.
As the moments dragged on, the sun set completely, and the full moon rose up in its place, casting a silvery glow on everything, and making Lightpaw's fur and feathers look like they were made of glowing moonbeams.
The night wore on, but Lightpaw didn't seem to get tired. She just flew, following some sensation embedded deep in her soul. After a while, she could see the faint outline of land. I must've flown all the way around the world, Lightpaw thought.
She glided down to the beach, touching down with all four paws. She sat down, gazing out into space, watching the stars twinkle brightly up above, so high, that no matter how high she flew, she'd never reach them.
The beach carried a salty scent, reminding Lightpaw once again of her dream. Then, her thoughts were interrupted by a loud crash. Lightpaw spun around, class unsheathed and ears flattened. What she saw astounded her.
A beautiful, navy blue creature with huge, bat-like wings had landed right next to her. It had long, elegant horns, and little scales speckling its wings that looked like stars. The creature turned to Lightpaw, and she saw huge, aquamarine eyes that matched her's, shining with some sort of emotion.
The beautiful creature curled it's tail around its paws, studying Lightpaw in the half light. It narrowed its eyes, squinting at her, then it did the most astounding thing Lightpaw had ever seen.
A row of scales running along its underbelly and middle lit up, like tiny moons, shedding a silvery light that bathed Lightpaw, letting her see the creature in full view. It had a long, element muzzle, with two little whiskers hanging under its chin. It's neck was lined with thick, triangular scales, that moved in and out while the thing breathed. At the corner of each eye, glinting slightly in the light of its flashing scales, was a silver scale that looked like a tear, running down the creature's face.
It's tail was shaped like a paddle, and it's paws looked a bit like an eagle's talons, except with webbing. It had long, thin fins running down its spine and neck, which were almost see through.
Along its wings, and on some of the fins, there were little spirals, dancing around like leaves on the wind, which glowed as brightly as the moon.
Lightpaw padded a little closer, and the huge creature lowered its head to sniff her. They shared a look for a moment, before the creature turned and snorted, flying away on wings that looked as though they'd disappeared in the night sky.
Lightpaw watched it go, then felt a sudden tug pulling her back across the ocean. She spread her wings and followed the sensation, and after a few hours, the ThunderClan camp came into view. Suddenly, the long flight caught up with Lightpaw, and she landed in the camp and headed straight for her nest, and found herself asleep withing minutes.
This is kinda important for the rest of the series, but I don't want to explain it right now because that'll ruin the story.
If you want to see how this will relate to later books, then go read my other fanfic, The Ten. Read the re uploaded version. The old one was bad.
Anyway, I'll rant in the allegiances.
That's all from me!
