♯ ❝LET ME GO RIGHT NOW! ❞

THE ENGINE OF THE MILANO WAS STILL SPLUTTERING as Gamora stepped out of the crash-landed ship and led the group forward. The ship—while somewhat intact was in no condition to fly anymore, leaving the group with a new problem their twelve procent plan didn't cover. But for now, the group marched on.
When everyone was outside, the Milano's doors closed, and their only source of light had been erased, darkness now consuming the room.
Midas breath wavered, she could hardly see a few feet ahead of her, but what she did witness were numerous dead bodies of Ronan's lackeys, with their weapons still in hand, ever so loyal in the face of incoming doom.
Alerted, Midas clipped her staff loose from her belt, the cold metal making her feeling comforting. Her thumb brushed over one of the buttons and it extended to its full lenght with a soft swish.
"I can barely see," Drax groaned, lowering the large blaster he was holding in irritation while the rest of the team let out mutters of agreement, but it seemed Groot had a solution for their problem.
He lifted his arm slowly and opened up his palm, and from it— like some sort of miracle, thousands and thousands of little creatures resembling fireflies fluttered around the room, immediately emitting a yellow light.
Midas stared at the little creatures in complete awe. Her eyes were wide as she stared at the the tiny creatures that were illuminating the room. Her eyes sparkled from the light they gave and as the all spread out they looked like the stars just outside the atmosphere.
"When did you learn to do that?" Drax, for once had something serious to ask, his question laced with genuine curiosity
"Pretty sure the answer is 'I am Groot'," Peter jested, but he too was amased by Groot's actions. His eyebrows were raised in surprise, as he stared all around him in shock and slowly, his eyes fell on Midas who was gazing upwards her eyes as bright as the tiny creatures. A faint light illuminated her feautures perfectly and it brought him to smile.
"The flight deck is three hundred metres this way," Gamora announced as she let her eyes flicker back to the group and she continued to lead the group forward.
"I want you all to know that I am grateful for your acceptance after my blunders. It is pleasing to once again have friends," Drax suddenly admitted in the comfort of the silence that loomed over the group. "You, Quill, are my friend."
"Thanks," Peter replied flatly, his eyes remaining focused on the way ahead.
"This dumb tree, he is my friend."
Groot did't reply with his usual response, but the tall tree did grant the man a timid smile.
"Ghastly Midas, you are my friend."
"Thank you, big guy." She replied sarcastically, but she did give him a small smile. She still wasn't over the fact he almost got her killed, but he did what he believed what was right and with all the decisions she had made the last couple of years she couldn't really blame him.
"And this green whore, she too–"
"Oh, you must stop!" Gamora growled, totally fed up with the situation and Drax sentiment.
Like some sort of scene from a movie, a grunt sounded from the far end of the room where then, Nebula through the coverage of the darkness, appeared.
"Gamora, look at what you have done," Nebula's voice— filled with hatred, echoed around the room, "you have always been weak. You stupid, traitorous-"
Before Nebula could continue her harsh statements, an explosion blasted her far to the side.
They all stood frozen for a moment, confused by what happened until they all turned to see Drax holding his weapon up, after having just blasted it. "Nobody talks to my friends like that."
"Head to the flight deck. I'll shut down the power to the security doors," Gamora commanded, but Midas caught a glimpse of a faint smile on the assassin's face.
The group did as they were told, leaving Gamora behind and sprinting toward the flight deck in a hurry.
It was only seconds later that they had bumped into a large group of awaiting soldiers and from the corner of her eye, Midas could see Peter tense up for a second, reconition flashing in his eyes.
"Star-Lord," The man greeted, with a sinister smirk etched on his face.
"Finally," Peter muttered with a grin, even though their were much more important things to worry about than a simple nickname.
The man immediately attacked, picking Peter up and throwing him to the ground with way too much force for a normal man.
Drax, Groot and Midas immediately proceeded to eliminate their attackers and everyone went their own way.
Midas grunted as she knocked another one of Ronan's goons out but her eyes narrowed when she felt a tug on her leather jacket, turning her around forcefully and her anger flared when the alien didn't let go of it.
"If your smart you let go me right now." She growled, a clear threat in her voice low.
"Midas!" Peter exclaimed in suprise as he watched the woman hit another button on her staff, one side lit up as it turned pure white. It made an electrical buzzing sound as she held the alien up by its colar and braught her staff closer to his face, the man screaming in complete and utter fear.
"Whoa! Mid! No need to burn his face off!" Peter grabbed her arm as she was inching closer to his face.
Midas stared at Peter, contemplating her next actions before letting out a frustrated sigh, hitting the button again. The white energy was again replaced by metal and with one strong move she knocked the alien in her grip out cold.
What the hell was that thing?" Peter breathed out as Midas twirled the staff in her hands.
Midas grinned. "Just a helpful feature I added."
Peter opened his mouth to speak again but their attention snapped towards Drax.
Drax, with a feral growl, had lifted the leader up and forced him into a wall, cracking it due to how much force he had used. "Finger to the throat means death," Drax spat, before tearing out the cybernetic implants from his head, leaving the man shuddering on the ground as the electric currents shocked his body until he stopped moving completely "Metaphor," Drax added with and huff, before looking to Peter.
"Yeah, sorta," Quill nodded with wide eyes and a hint of fear. "Oh, no," Peter mumbled catching marching soldiers coming their way.
All of the team drew their attention to the crowd of enemies after Peter's not so subtle warning. But before they could spring into action again, Groot expanded a limb and it came barreling passed them before he impaled a row of soldiers and he began to move it from side to side, smashing the soldiers into the wall and against the ceiling.
Groot yelled loudly, continuing to smash the soldiers around before suddenly he yankinh his arm back so it was its normal length, and turned to the team with an innocent and childish smile, waiting for some sort of praise for his help.
Midas, unsure of how to act after witnessing Groot sudden display of violence did the only thing she could think of and smiled at him and gave him a quick thumbs up making the humanoid tree's smile even wider.
"Quill, you gotta hurry. The city's been evacuated, but we're getting our asses kicked down here," Rocket's voice was impatient as he spoke in a rushed voice, reminding the group of the stakes.
"Gamora hasn't opened the door!" Peter replied worried, slamming his fist on the security doors after taking down a soldier that was guarding the door.
But with no choice but to go on with the plan, Peter started to prepare the Hadron Enforcer, the same one Rocket had wanted to use as rescue plan for Midas and Peter when they were captured by the Ravagers. Plus the racoon had also said it could blow up moons if needed to, and Midas didn't know if she should be happy about that or not.
Midas firmly believed that Gamora would finish her task and like the green woman knew they were waiting, the doors finally opened up, allowing the four of them to enter.
Two Sakaarans inside were easily defeated by Midas and Drax while Gamora joined the scene by shooting a hole through the floor climbing through it.
Several foot ahead stood an omnious figure, Ronan the Accuser turned around, a sinister smirk plastered on his face, while Peter powered up the Enforcer and aimed.
Midas held her breath as Peter's finger hovered over the trigger...
A large explosion went off in the middle of the long hall, blinding them all.
