I can't believe

I let you drag me from our bed

In the middle of a midnight's

Summer rain.

We slip through the back door,

Out on the grassy lawn

Wearing almost nothing on,

Warm liquid slides off my bare chest;

It soaks your nighttime shirt.

You scream in delight,

As you grab my hand

And force me to dance.

You shake your head,

Rain scattering in the air.

I laugh at how crazy you seem,

At how little you care

About the neighbors

Looking in on this scene.

I laugh at how you always

Make me do such wild things

Like dancing in a summer rain

Like chasing my dreams

Like believing in love again

Like hoping this would never end.

Back inside

We slip off our drenched clothes.

We kiss, sweet and wet and warm,

Dripping droplets on the floor.
