Dreamer
Aren't you the fair-haired Wizard
That you thought you were,
Throwing beams of love with your wand
Through the void of my dark universe,
Conjuring up potions, bubbling with alluring temptations,
Hypnotizing the moon to whisper oaths of devotion and trust
To my hesitant ears?
Aren't you in control of the rainbow colors
That you shower over my dark body,
And the peacock feathers you fan me with?
Where are your crystal powers now
Or your magic bones that give you sight
Or those runes you chant in monotone?
You think just because
You have brought me to the dazzling
Glow of your sunshine lake,
To the vision of your blinding brightness,
I would succumb,
Immerse myself into your varied colors?
Dream on, Dreammaker.
My color blind eyes pierce
Through the patterns you weave in the skies
In your visions.
Your rainbow colors slip off me
And the peacock feathers have flown away.
Your crystals shattered,
Your bones broken,
And your chants unspoken
To my ears.
Your wonderland crumbles
With but one wave of my hand,
One wink of my eye,
Or one tilt of my brow.
Author's Note: I originally wrote a poem where a would-be suitor attempts to seduce a mistress with mystical promises. This poem, "Dreamer," captures the lady's response.
