Lilac
"Yay a house." I cheered as the truck stopped. We drove for a few hours to this town then an extra half an hour to get to the actual house that's a little far from civilisation. But that's kind of how dad prefers it. It's a double storey cabin by the looks of it. Old and rustic.
"Go in check the place out for anymore unexpected butt biters." Dad said and Roxi growled before jumping out of the trunk and I stared at dad's sneaky grin. I shook my head then got myself out of the truck running to Roxi's side at the front door.
"Key!" We yelled at the same time and he tossed me the key so I put it into the lock. However it wouldn't move. I turned it right, a quarter of the way and it got stuck so I turned it left and it just wouldn't unlock.
"Stupid thing." I shouted continuously turning the key so Roxi took the key from me. And just as luck would have it I heard a click and the door swung open. Releasing a stale stench. "Don't say anything." I quickly said and Roxi smirked before stepping inside.
"It reeks." She commented her face scrunching up in disgust. "There are at least seven dead rats in this house." How she can tell is beyond me but with this bad smell I'm willing to believe it. "And 703 live ones in the roof."
"Oh it's not that bad..." Dad muttered stepping through us holding some bags in his hands. "We'll fix it up a bit."
"And when you say we you mean us while you go off to check out the bars in this town." I remarked.
"Well yes..." He said only half joking. God I pray this place has cleaning utensils.
"Come on let's find the bedrooms..." Roxi said walking into the living room to find the staircase in the corner. I'm a little frightened if what I might find there. Can't be worse than a lizard scratching my boob. We ran up the creaky steps and saw one door in front of us then two doors at the ends of the little dusty hallway. Roxi opened the door in front of us and we saw it was a bathroom. Well one shower, sink and stinky toilet.
"I believe this is some pool place for the cockroaches." Roxi said closing the door and I smiled at her. "Let’s go down here." She suggested and I followed her down the right, my footsteps creaking while Roxi's are silent as a mouse. We walked in and found two small beds pushed up against the wall with only a nightstand sitting between them.
"Looks like we're sharing." Again... Typical of dad to get the cheapest crappiest house but then again we won't be staying for long anyway.
"Alright well I'm getting my bags then I'm going to try out the shower." Roxi stated slipping out if the room. But then she quickly came back in to say. "By the way there are two dead rats in this room. Tell dad to look under the bed and throw them out."
"Dad?" I repeated and Roxi hesitated realising what she had said.
"I mean Mr Valentine."
"You know you can call him dad. I don't think he would..."
"Lilac... Please don't..." She said shaking her head dismissively then rushed off.
"Mind." I said when she was out of ear shot. It's been eleven years, and they're still both standoffish. Except when it comes to me. Whether I'm in trouble, or about to do something reckless. I paced over to the furthest bed pushed up right at the window. I sat it on it and a cloud of dust swooshed up visible under the sunlight. At least we get clean sheets. I pulled the cover off and eyed at the yellow stains on the sheets.
"Who lived here before us?" I asked myself pulling the sheets, blankets and the pillow cases off both our beds then ran downstairs to find a laundry room. I walked through the rotted kitchen down a small staircase that led to it. And I stuffed everything inside. I found the washing detergent pouring it inside then let the machine do it's thing. I walked to the other side of the room where a cupboard sat and found an old vacuum.
A couple of hours later Roxi and I had cleaned up the place, dad unpacked his things and started setting up some training gear out at the back and he put up the protective ward spell. We lay on the couch and stared at the TV dad connected up but there's nothing on.
"Want to learn a new move?" Roxi asked in my hair. I'm literally sitting on her lap with my legs hanging over the armrest. I smiled then moved off her so she could stand up. "I've just thought about. I haven't actually tried this out yet." She said standing in front of the telly. She counted to three bobbing her head then she jumped doing the splits on the ground then somehow slid her feet back together so she was standing again.
"Wow! How'd you do that!?" I exclaimed standing beside her excited.
"Alright skip the jump and do the splits then use your whole leg muscles to get yourself back up. But remember don't go completely down to the ground otherwise it's impossible to get back up."
"That's your theory?"
"That's the truth." We both did it together but I failed my first few tries. "It's ok your just going to low." She said and I nodded trying again. Splitting but managing to get up halfway before falling on my arse.
"God dammit!" I hissed standing up again.
"Stay positive you're going to get it. Now on three. One. Two..." We both did the splits then stood back up swiftly and awesomely. I grinned myself fist pumping the air then I gave Roxi a high-ten.
"A-ha that's right! I did it! I did it! I'm awesome!" I chanted waving my arms around like the lunatic I am. Roxi smiled at me then looked away from me with a blank expression. I turned around and saw dad standing in the doorway. Greys showing in his dark brown hair. Ah... That explains the random awkwardness.
"Rogue wolf running around in a train station."
"Probably pissed he missed the three o'clock train." Roxi muttered behind me and my dad cracked a grin.
"Probably." He said then walked off to prepare. Roxi walked around up the staircase and I just followed dad. I ran and leaped onto his back and he held my legs continuing to walk to the kitchen. There on the kitchen bench lay a machine gun and silver bullets.
"Where'd you get the bullets from?" I asked jumping off him and walking over to the bench.
"EBay." He remarked sarcastically and I rolled my eyes.
"Seriously."
"You can buy them if you go to the right place." Was all he said and I huffed in annoyance. "I know a friend who makes them. Not legally of course." He said and I snickered. Now of the stuff we do is legal I was going to say but I thought better of it and loaded the machine gun. "Got you girls something."
"What?" I asked and he held out a silver metal whip at least two metres long. "Wow."
"Test it out tonight." He said giving it to me.
"Oh I will." I said admiring its shine. Then Roxi came in wearing tight black pants that flowed around her black sneakers, and showed her lovely wide hips and complimented that boodilicious ass of hers, she wore a white singlet with a black bullet proof vest over it and her brown hair tied back in a high ponytail. The one scar visible along under her jaw and the three scars on her chest very clear and easy to see. She's used to it now, but still prefers to keep them hidden. I hate to say this but she's gained so much weight... Which makes her stronger and her fury more terrifying. Her breasts are huge! The big ass and the big boobs!
"Let’s get going before the wolf finds a new place to piss on." She said and I laughed.

Roxi
We jumped out of the truck on to the stone cold pavement. Lilac was in faded blue jeans and a camouflage tee, her raven hair tied in a messy bun and the new whip tied to her belt. She bit her lip nervously as she watched her dad climb out of the truck. It's late but still a few people were walking in and out of the station. The stars are out, full moon is up. So this wolf is going to be trouble. Under full moon it's hard to ignore the animalistic instincts for a werewolf. Unexplainable, but that's how most of the world is anyway.
"Why hasn't the wolf attacked the people waiting at the station?" Lilac questioned.
"Maybe we're at the wrong one." I said.
"No it should be coming." He assured the machine gun held tightly in his hands. He slipped it under his long coat and I had my own gun and knives inside my vest.
"Let’s go in." Lilac paced through the archway and I followed on behind her but looked back to her dad.
"Take care of her alright I'm going to try another route." He said running off to the left, his coat flying behind him. It’s late, at least eleven at night so the streetlights are on but arent shedding enough light creating the eerie mood. I turned around and followed Lilac straight there on the platform. I immediately noticed her trailing eyes on a guy in some school uniform, probably coming from a late night of 'studying' with his friends.
"Concentrate Lilac, that dude has pimples all over his face." I whispered in her ear and she giggled blushing a little removing her eyes from the cute boy to the railroad.
"I wish I put on some make up." She whispered and I rolled my eyes while she laughed.
"Where would it be?" I asked her and then we heard the loud sounds of the train coming our way. The wet dog smell filled my nostrils and I eyed the train closely. It wasn't slowing down. It's speeding up... I heard a howl then the screams of frightened people coming from the train.
"Bingo." I said a little bit too cheerfully considering the current circumstances. But she didn't notice.
"I've always wanted to jump on a moving train." Lilac added and I snickered. Well here's our chance. I don't doubt Lilac's skills, she can do this. We've jumped on moving cars this can't be that much different. But the train is still speeding up instead of slowing down. Which fills my head with doubt so I changed my mind about Lilac jumping on the train. I reached into my front pocket. Reaching for the walkie-talkie and looked at her.
"Lilac... Hold this." I tossed it at her and she jumped trying to catch it meanwhile I jumped down on the railway watching the train speeding at me.
"What is she doing?" Some stranger yelled out.
"Roxi?" Lilac called out but I had already leaped up high to land right on top of the moving train. I stood up even though the wind keeps trying to force me down. And I glanced at the station where Lilac stood annoyed. Quickly it became a distant speck of light.
Step one stop the train.
I went down on one knee and bashed a hole with my fist through the roof of the train. I've been properly trained, so my strength has increased widely. Mr Valentine says I should be able to take on a werewolf by my bare hands. I shall test out that theory tonight. I grinned at myself then stomped my foot down to make the hole bigger for me to slip through landing in a crouching position. I jumped in surprise when I saw the dead body of the train driver. I know from his navy blue uniform... He looks about thirty and his belly has been clawed open. I gagged at the gruesome sight and the horrible stench. My stomach getting queasy as I stood up staring at the corpse.
"Bloody hell." I whispered to myself then turned around to the controls. I pulled a random leaver and pressed a few random buttons then the train froze to a stop making a loud screeching noise. It hurt my ears so I quickly blocked them but I still heard the wolf cry out in pain too. I turned around and ran into the next carriage. Everyone must have rushed to the first carriage because it's filled with people trying to pull the doors open. I shoved people out of my way and someone grabbed my arm to stop me.
"Don't go in there! Some monster is in one of those carriages." A woman cried out and burst into tears. I rolled my eyes while removing her hand and stalked to the closed exit doors. I kicked them open and so people gasped... But then a man elbowed me out of the way to jump out and run.
"Pig." I said out loud then got out if the way for others to get out. One man tried to call the police so I grabbed the phone and threw it out the doors then kicked him through them causing him to fall down on his knees. We don’t need the hopeles police involved. I kept out of people's way and they sure stayed out of mine when I walked through to the next carriage. The wolf's scent is stronger in here but the wolf is nowhere in sight. Perhaps he marked his territory in here?
No.
Although that would be a little funny.
I heard a creak in a few carriages down from where I am so I got out my gun. I slid the next door open crossing through to the next carraige and blood was splattered across the floor and the walls but strangely enough no bodies. Suddenly one of the doors creaked open and I got ready to shoot at whatever came at me.
“Roxi relax it’s just me. And thanks for ditching me!” Lilac growled climbing in and I lowered the gun.
“sh.. the wolf is in the next carraige.” I told her and she made a disgusted noise at the blood she’s accidently touching on the walls.
“Lets get this over with.” She mumbled then we froze when a growl errupted in the next carraige. I got my gun ready and we both walked soundlessly to the next door. Through the window I saw the big grey hairy mutt’s backside. Hunching over something and Lilac instinctively grabbed her whip. I used one hand to touch the door and slide it open. And the wolf turned around on all fours glaring at us with such venomous dark eyes. I knew it saw us as chew toys so I didn’t waste a second. When I slid the other door open I shot aiming for the middle of his face. But he dodged and snarled at us then leaped up escaping by smashing a hole through the ceiling.
“Shit.” I snapped running then jumping up through the hole. Lilac jumped up after me and we ran after the wolf as it ran along the roof of the train. He leaped on to another moving train so jumped on it and Lilac swung her whip and slashed it agaisnt it’s cheek. Which angered it more and drooled as he rumbled. I aimed at it again but then the train made an ubrupt stop and both Lilac and I fell forward.
“Jesus Christ.” She hissed.
“No point in praying now.” I said back and then helped her and myself up. The wolf ran at us then soared up above our heads howling loudly. We ran after it and then the train started moving. “Lilac get its ankle!” I shouted and she swung her silver whip out to wrap around his back ankle. But the plan backfired because he ended up dragging Lilac down flat on her face then she slipped off the train. I heard her scream and I shouted her name in panic. The wolf kept moving and the whip is still entangled around his ankle. Lilac is clinging onto it for dear life. If I kill him he’ll fall and risk the chance of Lilac possibly ending then and there. I kept running after them both getting closer to his tail. How bloody strong is this werewolf?
“Roxi!” Lilac screamed so I just grabbed one of my knives and cast it into the wolf man’s backside. He howled in pain and I grabbed tightly on the silver whip. However my skin singed at the touch and I screamed in pain. As loud as the wolf’s cry. I leaned over the train to see Lilac stare up it me with fearful eyes so I gave her my hand and pulled her halfway up. But the wolf smacked me with his large paws knocking me to the side, loosing my gun on the railway. And Lilac screamed my name. The wolf leaned over me drooling all over my shirt and I groaned at his doggy breath. “There’s another train coming Roxi!” I veered my head to look around him and saw another train not to far off that squash Lilac if it rode next to this one. Shit, shit, shit! I attempted to reach into my vest but he snapped his teeth at my face almost getting my nose. But unexpectedly he pulled himself off me. No wait.. I sat up and saw another big black wolf drag this one by his tail. Lilac moved with the wolves because the whip is still attatched to his ankle. So I bolted up and ran to the wolves that are now piercing into each others flesh with their fangs. I grabbed another dagger from my vest and hurled it at the grey ones ankle. It sliced right through making him howl again and the black wolf locked his jaw around the ankle and ripped it off from the leg. He dropped it and I grabbed it just in time trying to keep a hold of Lilac as she dangled screaming tightening her hold on the whip. The wolves fell off the otherside and the train kept coming ready to hit her. I screamed loudly and heaved Lilac up and swivelled her back on to train I am on. The blood from the wolf’s foot poured on to my hands but I ignored them and ran to Lilac’s aid. She stood up breathing heavily and I swear I can hear her heart beating rapidly.
“There are two wolves now!” She yelled out untangling the whip on the wolf leg. “Ewe.” She moaned and the paw started shaping back into a human foot.
“EEEEWWWEEEE!!!!!” We screeched chucking it off the ledge.
“We can’t let them get away. Lilac on the next stop we’ll jump off and call your dad.”
“Alright don’t ditch me this time.” She said as the train slowly stopped and we jumped down and people coming out the train flinched startled. We moved forward ignoring the curious glances and Lilac held out the walkie-talkie. “Da...” We froze when we heard a howl. A big black wolf leaped down from above us scaring people off and then since the train had left the wolf just hopped down on to the railroad and started running off. On instinct I jumped down and chased after it. I don’t feel like myself at all, like something is taking over and I let those impulses take over. “Roxi!” Lilac’s cry became distant as I kept my eyes on the wolf. For a girl my size and weight I can sure as hell run faster than the wind. The wolf can run but catching up seemed like a breeze and so he seemed surprised to see me right at his tail. He huffed then swiftly leaped around knocked me down while I made an animalistic growl. He didn’t rumble back but just eyed at me with wandering eyes. I didn’t feel afraid, I got excited. He sniffed my face and I chuckled when his big green eyes widened. He glared up at the sky, at the full moon then gazed down back at me. I can see the reflection of the moon in his eyes and I just continued admiring them. But then a bad gut feeling started to arise. The more I stared the more I worried. Maybe Lilac’s six sense is starting to kick in. I don’t even understand why I chased him. It was like a natural feeling. A strange intuition that influenced me. He inhaled my scent from my hair and then all of a sudden licked my neck. And I abrubtly hit his snout and he sniffled.
“Do you mind?” I snapped and when he huffed I flinched a little. He noticed, I knew because he smiled a wolfie grin. He nudged my nose with his playfully and I cocked my head to the side confused. Why isn’t he ripping my head off? Is he just toying with me? I gulped then lifted up my right hand from my side. He didn’t notice or just didn’t care because he let touch his furry cheek. In fact he leaned into it and slobbered over my arm. “Ewe!!” I whinged playfully and he made a wolfie laugh while I stared at him shocked. “You’re kind of adorable.” I whispered giving him a gentle scratch behind the ear. He flared his nostrils then nudged me with his snout again. I giggled but then he stiffened. A gun shot was fired and the wolf ran off. I stared after him and then felt someone grip my arm.
“Roxi! Roxi? Are you ok?” Lilac asked calmly even though I can sense her unease.
“That wolf.” I breathed.
“Almost killed you.” Mr Valentine said furiously grabbing me by my vest and forcefully pulled me up. “Go home and lock your doors. Keep an eye out for the wolf in case he follows you home.” He ordered.
“But...” I started.
“Go now.”
“Mr Valentine...”
“Stay in the shadows.”
“Corey! He saved me.” I shouted using his Christian name.
“What?”
“He’s not a threat. He saved my life twice tonight so I don’t think...”
“Roxi, if I had gotten here any later you would either be used as a chew toy.” He paused. “Or a sex toy.” I stared at him in horror while Lilac stiffened beside me.
“Let’s go Roxi.” She said tugging my arm. That would make sense of why he was being playful.
“Fine.”
✨💫✨
Lilac
Her eyes...
They glowed.
I swear I saw them light up before she randomly chased that wolf down. It was the scariest thing I’d ever seen. But maybe it was just my imagination... I’ve got that adreniline rush running through me so I can’t exactly sit still and keep my thoughts together.
“I reset the protection spell to keep the wolf out.” Roxi said walking into the living room. I stared up at her from the couch and noticed how exhausted she looks. There’s no way what I saw is true. Trick of the light.
“Are you ok?” I asked her and she nodded smiling but it didn’t reach her eyes. She looks almost sick. Bags under her blue eyes and skin starting to pale.
“I don’t feel like myself.” She admitted then started playing with a knife in her hands. “That wolf wasn’t going to hurt me.” She stated and I gazed at her confused.
“Full moon. Werewolves are unpredictable at that time.”
“Yes but this wolf had some control over him. He was adorable.”
“Adorable? What was he an oversized puppy? Roxi you heard what dad said...”
“Mr Valentine was wrong. Is wrong I should say...” She sighed and then headed for the creaky steps.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m taking a shower... you should first actually, you’re covered in blood. And I’m sorry for that stupid idea.”
“What?”
“When I told you to grab his ankle with the whip.”
“It was all you could think of...”
“It could have costed your life.”
“But it didn’t. And yes I would love to go first because my hair is sticky!” I snapped and a smile preseneted itself on her split lips. Good at least we haven’t lost our twisted humour, but I know at some point our sanity is going to flutter away.
“This time you have an excuse to take a draggingly long shower. Seriously what do you do in there that takes so long?”
“I shave my legs.”
“You seriously shave your legs. God you’re such a princess.” She teased as I walked up past her on the steps.
“Shut up!” I said back then she smacked my ass and I laughed rushing straight into the bathroom. It is no longer a spa for cockroaches and is sparkerling clean. Thanks to a few spells grandma told us. Before she died... I shook my head at that thought and stripped out of my clothes leaving them on the floor. I turned the knob to let out the hot water but I had to stand there naked for awhile before it warmed up.
“You forgot towls!” Roxi yelled outside the bathroom and then she just barged in dumping two white clean towels on the lid of the toilet. “Nice ass.”
“Nice rack.” I responded and she laughed while closing the door behind her. The water finally became warm and climbed into the tub to stand right underneath the shower head. I moaned once the hot water hit my head. I grabbed the shampoo bottle from it’s it little ledge on the wall and poured a whole lot on my sticky sweaty head. I massged thoroughly and if my head could it would sigh in relief because it feels so much better. I rinsed thoroughly then got the conditioner putting it on the ends of my hair. First day of another new school tomorrow, so I decided to shave my legs while I waited for the conditioner to work its magic on my hair. I used to love the idea to be a warrior but now that my whole life has to be dedicated to it. I haven’t got much time for anything else. I can’t make new friends and have a boyfriend because I never know when I’m going to leave. How am I going to get married in the future? I can’t introduce a husband into this life. A life where I’m moving around to hunt down bloodthirsty demons. What kind of future can I have? Would I be able to get married? Would I be able to have a proper family? I can’t talk about this to anyone. Dad is dad... And Roxi wouldn’t understand she doesn’t about all this things. About love and boys. If grandma was here it would be a different story. I could tell her anything. I want to be loved by someone other than family. I have had boyfriends but nothing to amazing. Just make outs under school’s bleachers... Rinsed my hair out, cleaned my body lavender smelling soap then turned the shower off. I expected to freeze but then I noticed a wind blowing sound in the room. Roxi had turned the heating on for me and she’s taken my dirty clothes. She’s the mother I wish I still had...
“Hey Roxi! I’m done!” I yelled out wrapping the towels around my hair and body.
“About fucking time! I just notcied blood stains on my arm... and it’s not my blood!” She screamed back from what sounds like downstairs. I walked out of the bathroom and paced over to our bedroom. I closed the curtains and opened up my suitcase to pull out my long white men’s t-shirt and some black underwear. When I grew out of my old pyjamas dad bought me new ones which were pink and covered in unicorns. I burnt them...
Once half dressed I jumped into bed and snuggled under the covers pulling out my sketch book from underneath my pillow. My moon necklace fell out from it and I held in my ghost white hand and admired it for awhile. Roxi always keeps her ring on her person, whether it’s on her finger, in a pocket or on a chain around her neck. I try to wear as often as possible but I fear losing it. I left it on the nightstand and then opened a blank page in my book. I drew the two wolves that we saw tonight, the trains and the full moon. I wonder if anyone found that human foot.
