Chapter 4: Interference (Talek)
Fixated on how well she handled being within inches of his enigmatic presence; I had no reason to keep him from going after Danny as I sat adamant in my seat.
I, myself, had wanted to know the strength she possessed, and I was hardly disappointed. I give her credit for combating off his advances; not many, can say – well, could say if they were still around – that they held their own against his certain cognitive 'persuasions.'
"Vampire's... really?" Mocking the moron as I tapped down the last step, while wrapping the messenger backpack around my torso. The sarcasm distinguished within a soft laugh.
"To keep them off any breadcrumbs that lead to any true reality, you give them full access to it..." He began with no acknowledgement of my existence a few feet away. "...They're too mundane to piece any of the puzzle together. And, by the time they do, they are two steps from the grave."
"You're repulsive." I spat out. "Why anyone with half a brain listens to the idiocy that flies out of your mouth, I can never truly understand."
"Persuasion is not a taught gift... It is taken upon oneself to retain from many years of practice...One you..." Gradually trancing his glassed gaze onto me. "...absolutely, do not possess." Pausing momentarily to take gather of the insult piling on my face.
"That is why I have everything; and you...well, you have two hands that throttle your peen, along with years of constant mental instability." Chortling while taken pleasure in his rather obnoxious banter of a rant.
Who talks this much about themselves? A narcissistic arse – that's who!
"Nothing you say is necessarily given much of a glance over." Coiling an arm around my neck, as if to convince himself that there was nothing to fear from me. Underestimation has always been an ego boosting energy source to me.
The surge of boiling blood constricted my veins. He was saying – if anything at all - the past could and would never catch up with him. We'll see! I'll make sure that it comes full blast down your throat, you miserable leach...
"Oh, to answer your question..." He interrupted the hurricane spinning behind my red wheels...
"... There's nothing wrong with a having them scavenge for details that could benefit us as well, now could there? Keep thy enemies close; and thy family even closer."
'You're repellant!' I blew out, swiping away from his grip. "Your using the students to investigate the possibly that if we have 'family' visit, you'll be one step ahead?" I may as well have been chatting it up with the wall, he was no more listening to me than if I were a cricket chirping along the pathway; Dazed in his own egotistic mind.
"Young... ample and powerful blood that one retains – virgin, no less..." He began, sniffing the remnants of air Dannity had left behind. "... Is there anything more inviting?"
"You have the vaguest idea whether to indulge in a little depredation or calm that inner lust of the flesh..." Natural baritone peeling to a softer moan. "...It's magnificent when you have the power to choose whatever and whomever, you desire."
A slight regurgitation of my afternoon snack of yogurt covered almonds, spit through my esophagus.
Few steps were taking as the cauldron of anger boiled finally over.
"...And who is it that you desire, Blayke?"
I knew the answer; as I was sure of it. But a part of me couldn't help keeping back the suspicions with over analyzing his inapt ability to be flirty with either gender. He's a completely greedy and unnatural being.
"Why are you even talking her?" I asked demandingly while spinning on my heels.
"Why do you care, little brother?" He teased. "Didn't you sense what she was?"
"Just leave her alone." Finding my anger frail as I pleaded.
"I'm not going to do that." He snickered. "It's just in my nature." He added smugly.
Sudden strength came belling from his tone. "I can do whatever I please..." He retorted. "...Who are you to tell me anything? He warned.
"She won't have anything to do with you." I singed as I thought of the horrifying illusion floating rapidly into my quit innovative imagination.
Sometimes a great imagination needs to be a good thing to waste, as I conceived what was to come next.
Swung he did as we came face to face. "What is she to you, little brother..." The corner of his mouth curling. "...You have something for this one? That's good." He proclaimed. "You haven't had much of anyone interesting around since who?" Pausing for seconds to reaffirm his estimate. "That little trollop gingered girl last year."
"You know exactly why I stopped anything with her." I quenched.
"Yes, I know." His index folding up towards his right nipple; encircling it as some kind of bizarre pleasure. "...And she was quite juicy." He laughed walking away, pushing against my shoulder.
I spun in rage! My hand tagging his shoulder back. "You won't get to her; She KNOWS!" I barked!
Surging the inner turmoil of rage to my fingertips, his face is where this inevitable energy willfully escaping towards; sending him flying to the far south wall; down he floundered onto the floor with dust and drywall collapsing on him.
A rigid growled laugh begged out from under the pile of debris. "When did you get so strong... or incredibly, so stupid?"
Suddenly, I became the one flying across the room; no time to process, as bricks were searing into my back with such force, it's as if my vertebrae gave way to the pressure.
Collapsing in one thump, the gashes catering my skin, flared in heaving abrasions. My breath crushing back, with what seamed minutes later, but, in some spectacular side-show act – I was fine. No time to think of my miraculous ability to take on a hundred-year-old brick wall; my head was quickly grabbed and plunged back into it.
"You will never put your hands on me, you repulsive brat." The husky voice declared in a roar; eyes of hate; disgust, and chlorine colored water speared at me. I was lifted like paper as he braced my throat locked with his cold, dead hand.
"S...St...Stop..." I gurgled out. Hitting wherever my hands could. My head began swimming, darken gray spots were dancing as I tried with all I had to get from his grip. I grabbed for anything that a near -by splintered built-in bookshelf had to offer.
With fierce hesitation, I managed to snap up what I supposed was a slender stone; stabbing his left lower side. His grip wavered, as I dropped to the floor in a clunk!
What else can I do when my strength is eclipsed in double. I ran for the door.
"You dopey waste of air..." He sneered. "...this won't stop me." Bragging as he jerked the stone object out.
"I wouldn't venture too far you piss-ant... I promise... I will get you, Talek!" Scowling as he threw the threat at me.
"Not if I get somewhere, even you dare not attempt anything irrational." I said with reinforcing gleam.
"Where?" He paused in thought. Realization crept over his face in seconds.
"Oh!" He grimaced.
"You think that she can help...You'll see." He belted into laughter.
At least I deferred him enough from attempting a go with Danny, but how I managed to it... I wasn't assured if I had gone about it the right way.
I bolted out the door, still earshot of the laughter belting behind me. One day. I thought heading away from the sight of the science building. Towards whom I assembled to be my safekeeping. I just wish I grasped a better understanding of what is unerringly shifting within me.
