"An—An—Anton," I stammer, "—why?"
"Demons are a curse to humans," he says, the tone of his voice saying, "It's your fault."
I can't bear it anymore. I just can't. "STOP CALLING ME A DEMON!" I scream. Anton backs away as hail I somehow make falls around us. "You—" I point a trembling finger at him "—have NO idea how much it hurts to be called a weirdo, a freak, your whole life!" Now it isn't just fear, but anger and pain and humiliation, that bursts out of me. "Can't you even let me die in peace without being called a superfreak?"
"So what!" he yells back. "You've at least lived in safety! I—I—" He struggles for a while.
"Enough," says a voice. Calm and authoritive and icy—Amisha. "Shut your traps." I whip round and onto my feet, ready to lash out at her as well, but all she she says is, "we 're in the Room."
It takes me a full ten seconds to process this.
"No," I say desperately to hide my fear.
"Yes."
"That was quick."
"I know right."
"How can you be sure?"
"I was awake first, dumbo. It's obvious."
I look round. "Where's Seamus?"
"He went."
"Not—"
"Not dead, idiot. Exploring."
"So what can we do?" Anton asks.
A gust of wind streaks through Amisha's hair, and she suddenly looks defeated.
"I don't think there's much we can do."
(Rejoice, hoomans, rejoice! For my very short next chapter is here in such a short time! 0-0 that was cringey 0-0 Soph -> out)
