CHAPTER ELEVEN
A few days have passed since Poppy almost drowned. The Alphas face looked exhausted from lack of good sleep and perhaps worry. There was nothing to worry about. He'd tell himself many times every day. But he couldn't cheat himself in believing it was true.
Although he had shared most of what he knew about her past, she claimed not to believe. Her defining glare and the strong will of a free spirited girl engraved in his mind. She seemed nothing like what he left behind. Fragile porcelain doll breaking apart. the last 5 years shape her up well, almost making her ready to be a Luna his mind instantly wondered.
This girl was not a girl any longer. She has become a woman one he wished he could claim as his own. But knew better than to try, for now.
A loud repetitive chime of his work mobile got him out of his head and back to work. His desk was stacked with papers. The monitors in sleep mode and the phone ringing again and again. He cleared his trought and said a brief introduction before the other side spoke.
"Mmhmm"
"Yes."
"I understand the requirements"
"Yes let me run this by the schedules and I will get back to you once I know who's available."
"Mhm"
"Nice talking to you too. Have a good day ma'am" the call ended.
Many humans don't believe that the supernatural beings are able to fit into their society. Many don't realise there's more of the gifted In higher up places. In contrast a lot of past and present officials are of the wolf kind or their descendants carrying the wolf gene.
Many believed that beasts like them were the ones in charge of the crimes. Mafias, break ins, malicious murders. There's bad in any creature out there human or not.
"Colom!" The Alpha called out instantly seeing a young looking head pop up from behind one of monitors. "Check availability for the Mayors ball I'll send you the dates and place it is planned to be at."
"Yes Alpha." The boy responded sinking back down.
"Oh and Colom, it's a priority."
"Of course, Alpha." Was heard before he Alpha began to immerse himself with work once again. He tried everything to keep his mind from wondering. Since he saw her at the bonfire it was like a magnet for his taught the memories of her and with her.
To his surprise work seemed to fly by. Before he realised it was 8pm and everyone had gone from the office. He decided it was his queue to get back to the pack house.
Reaching the pack house took thirty minutes. Where he was welcomed with shrieks of his sisters and the smell of an amazing dinner made by his mother. Although the house belonged to him now it didn't feel any different then before. The halls were more busy than unusual with his new chosen beta and gamma, plus her mate momentarily living in the pack house. To him it still felt empty. Wether it was due to his fathers sudden passing or his believed mate not being there he wasn't sure.
The youngest sister ran up to the Alpha with arms stretched out anticipating a hug. They spun around until both fell on the sofa laughing.
"Dinners ready in 15 son. " she eyed him, concern growing in her eyes. "You look tired my baby. Don't overwork yourself now, promise me." She said before disappearing back into the kitchen.
"Shower time." He murmured slowly getting up to refresh himself.
He walked up the grand stairs leading to the second floor turning left and finding his room and en-suite. The shower soaked his body softly massaging his muscles.
How does she do it. He taught about the last time he touched her perfect skin. The visions. Does she see them too? She must do right...
He wondered before a loud knock echoed through breaking him free. Turning off the shower he walked out wrapping a towel around his hips. Seeing his beta waiting there leaning on the wall with his arms crossed.
"Any news ?"
"Nothing to update you on. She still hasn't shifted. It's like she's not even one of us."
The Alpha sat on the bed. "Seth, use any method to make it happen."
"Mateo are you sure..." his voice trailed.
"Yes. There's no choice any longer." Mateo got up from the bed walked over to his night stand and picked up a piece of paper. "The council demands her to be tested. It falls on the blue full moon. You know what that means."
"If she really is going feral then there won't be a way to hide it. Blue moon the only moon where every werewolf who hasn't gained control is forced to change and show their true colours." Seth pushed himself off of the wall walked closer to his Alpha muttering a quick may I while looking at the page.
Dear Mateo,
To begin this letter on a good note we are pleased that you have accepted your Alpha position and on the same night found your mate. The council acknowledges how rare an opportunity of having a true mate is during these times.
Nevertheless as you are fully aware by now she comes from the line of the X wolf gene. Even if the girl is your mate we are going to conduct the tests.
I would like to remind you, it is for the safety of us all. The test will take place on your pack grounds in a months time. During the Blue moon.
Yours sincerely,
The Council
"Well mate, if you want I can push her past the limit." Seth stated and handed the page back to Mateo who threw it onto his bed. "But she might loose the little trust she's got now left. She doesn't know our ways. She's never consciously transformed or even been in a pack." Seth walked towards the door not waiting for his response knowing that it must be killing him to make such call.
I can work on getting it back right... Mateo taught to himself getting ready for dinner.
