chapter 8
"You're scared of me?" Sirius asked, bewildered. He bit his lip to keep from crying. All this time, he thought he'd been a comforting friend, a shoulder to cry on for Remus. But he was frightening poor Moony the whole time?
Remus shook his head. "No, you nimrod. I like you."
"Phew!" Sirius sighed. "Okay, so we're good. Damn it, Moony, you had me scared there for a second. I'm glad you still like me."
"No...I mean...I love you," Remus stammered.
Sirius blinked.
"As a friend???" the dark haired boy asked.
Remus had no reply. How many different ways did he need to say it?
"Sirius, I-" Remus started.
"You what?" Sirius asked, encouragingly.
Remus sighed. "Sirius, I've had this huge crush on you since God knows when. I know you thought I liked James, but no. I'm sorry, but I like you in the gayest way possible. You probably think I'm really creepy and weird, but I don't think I could live without ever telling you," he said in one breath.
"I don't think you're creepy or weird, Remus," Sirius said quietly.

"I'm starting to worry about what happened to those two," James said, pacing the floor. "I mean, its raining! What sane person would stay outside in the rain?!"
"Some people don't care," Lily said. "Of course, you probably can't see when its raining cause the drops blur your glasses."
"Well Sirius hates when his hair gets wet, unless he's in the shower, so its strange he hasn't come running here, screaming about how the rain is out to ruin his hair," James mused. "I'd go look for them, but I don't want to get my glasses wet, you know?"
Lily rolled her eyes. "You're just lazy," she said. "Fine, then. I'll go look for your friends, and you can stay here drinking Starbucks and watching cat videos."
As Lily left, she could hear James asking himself, "Hey, I wonder if McGonagall makes cat videos..."

"I'm an awful friend," Remus whimpered. "Friends shouldn't friend-zone each other like that. I'm sorry, Padfoot."
Sirius laid a hand on Remus's shoulder. "Hey, don't beat yourself up, Moons," he said softly. "Its okay. Remember, I told you that I liked James for a few months. It happens to the best of us. And then, as if I didn't learn my lesson, I developed a crush on you like 4 days later."
"You...you liked me?" Remus whispered.
"Correction. I still do, to this very second," Sirius said, looking quite proud of himself. And with that, he threw his arms around Remus in a more-than-friendly embrace.
"Damn, Moony, you don't know how long I've wanted to do this," Sirius whispered in the werewolf's ear.
"You two are going to catch a cold out in this rain- whoa...." Lily gaped at what she was seeing. "What the hell is going on here?"
Remus and Sirius both turned to Lily, deep red blushes on their cheeks.
"Err...well....you see..." Remus stammered.
"We were just hugging each other; what's wrong with that? We all know Moony's a touchy-feely kinda guy," Sirius said, hooking his thumb at the werewolf.
"I am not!" Remus protested, blushing even harder.
"Yes, well, that hug seemed more than a friend hug," Lily said. "And friends don't leave hickeys on each other's necks."
Remus reached a hand up to his neck and covered the red spots, while throwing a dirty look at Sirius.
"Okay...so say we were more than just friends," Sirius said. "Hypothetically, of course. What would you think?"
"That Moony deserves better than you," Lily joked. "Naw, I'd probably not really think much of it. I mean, if you guys are madly in love with each other, then great. I'm glad Remus is happy. But don't start making love to each other in the common room, cause I do not want to see that.
"Of course, this is all hypothetical," she added sarcastically.
"Yup," Sirius lied.
"Totally," Remus agreed.
