The History And Truth Of The Past
After the strange dream and wierd encounter, Jake woke up in his room. It was still light outside as he had only taken a small nap. But what confused him is why he had such a vivid dream when it wasn't even the right time of day.
But putting that aside, Jake sat up on the edge of his bed and sighed. Tears then began to well up in his eyes as the vision of the sudden dream finally let him connect the dots of what they were trying to tell him.
'That woman. . . I definitely have to know her now!' Jake thought to himself. 'And her son. . . he looked so familiar. Almost as if it was-'
"It seems like you have finally connected the dots." The voice of Night Shade suddenly said.
'Huh? It's you, again?' Jake thought to himself. 'Wait. . . how do you know what in thinking?'
"I am inside your head." Night Shade said. "Of course I'd be able to read your thoughts."
'Huh. . . I guess that makes communicating easier then.' Jake said, talking in his mind to Night Shade.
"And that works you were in. . . that was your deep subconscious." Night Shade said. "And the figure you saw. . ."
'That was you?!' Jake said in surprise.
"Now pay attention, Jake. . . this next part is very important." Night Shade said seriously. "I want you to read the Dark Grinmoire. It will explain everything you need to know."
'Okay. . . right.' Jake said. 'I forgot I was supposed to do that.'
Jake then got up and went to where Makayla said she had the Grinmoire for him to read. He picked it up and stared intensely at it as he suddenly got a strange feeling in his body.
"Woah. . . chills." Jake said, shivering a bit.
"So, you can feel it too." Night Shade said. "That's all the proof we need right there."
'Proof of what?' Jake asked.
"Take a look inside." Night Shade said, eagerly.
Jake then opened the book and began to read through the first page. But things began to get weirder as the book suddenly burst into flames, causing Jake to quickly drop the book on the floor.
"What the hell?!" Jake cried, taking a step back. "What's happening?"
"As I expected. . . you're one of them." Night Shade said with glee. "I never had a doubt in my mind."
'One of them?' Jake said, confused. 'What are you saying?'
"Pick up the book." Night Shade said.
'What? I'll burn myself!' Jake said.
"Just pick up the damn book!" Night Shade said, angrily.
Jake quickly obeyed as he picked the book up off the floor. And when he did, the flames died down, revealing some new hidden messages written in the pages.
'Woah. . . secrets.' Jake said in awe by what he was seeing.
"Of course. . . The Vampire Lord had a special magical ink that would ignite once the rightful owner got a hold of it." Night Shade said. "Smart thinking on his part."
'The vampire lord?' Jake asked, clearly confused.
"Read it and see what it says." Night Shade said.
Jake looked back at the book and began to read what the burnt messages had to say.
If you see this, you're the chosen wielder of this powerful spell book used by vampires for centuries. However, sight of such a message could mean that you haven't fully developed your abilities yet and must do that, before attempting anything you read in this book.
'That's it?' Jake scoffed. 'It's just a bunch of nonsense.'
But Jake continues reading anyway as he flipped through the pages.
Congratulations! You have been chosen by the power of the Vampire Lord to become a great and powerful hybrid! You are capable of amazing things, my friend. As the descendant of a once powerful undead underlord, it is your responsibility to take care of this book and keep it out of evil's hands. As the book had almost done once before.
There was time in history when royal vampires and dark sorcerers would battle to the death as they were history's greatest rivals. But one day, The First Vampire Lord, Count Argus, decided that he had enough of their battles, as he took on the head Sorcerer himself. . . Master Oblivion. Their battle was fierce as both leaders battled it out and the fight lasted for days without end. Eventually, Count Argus was drained of his stamina and power, before falling to the hands of Oblivion. Seeing their great master fall before them, the vampires went into hiding, never to be seen again.
But centuries later, the dark sorcerers died out, leaving only the vampires. Oblivion had also been in hiding for centuries, so the undead rulers came out of hiding once more. And that's when the race if vampires discovered an even greater danger to them for this age. . . Humans.
Humans wiped out every last surviving vampire they could find. But there was one who managed to escape. . . Prince Vladimir Moon. . . A descendant of Count Argus.
'That's the name of the Vampire in my dreams.' Jake said. 'And his last name. . . it's the same as mine.'
"You see now?" Night Shade asked. "Your dreams. . . they were telling you about this young prince's story. And obviously, you know the rest from there."
'So, if his last name is Moon. . . and so is mine. . .' Jake thought about it for a second, before finally making the realization. 'That must mean. . . I'm a vampire! And a descendant of the first Vampire Lord?'
"Well. . . technically, you're half-vampire." Night Shade said. "You know that woman in your dreams?"
'Yes. . . Jessica Hunter.' Jake said. 'She married that vampire after rescuing him. And they even had a kid. . . with light blue hair. . . like mine.'
"I think you've got it by now." Night Shade said.
'If what I'm thinking is correct. . . then that couple. . .' Jake said, as his breathing began to increase as he took a few steps back. 'They're. . . my biological parents!'
"Give the boy a prize!" Night Shade said. "You're spot on, buddy!"
Jake then sat back down on his bed. 'But. . . if they're my true parents. . . how did I-'
*BANG!*
Before Jake could even finish his thoughts, there was a loud noise coming from downstairs. It sounded like someone had broken in.
'Oh crap. . . that didn't sound like anyone coming home.' Jake thought to himself, before going to check what the ruckus was.
When he went downstairs, he stopped suddenly in his tracks as he saw a group of hunters had broken in to their home. And leading them, was none other than Chad.
"Find the boy." Chad said. "It's time that we finally give him what he deserves."
The hunters than began to disperse as they all looked around, Jake quickly ran back to his room, grabbed the Grinmoire and put his shoes on.
'I need to get out of here fast!' Jake thought to himself, as he opened the window. 'Maybe I can reach that tree branch and get back to school!'
"Freeze, you freak!" A hunter shouted from behind him, holding a taser.
Jake turned around quickly and held his hands up in surrender. "Please. . .I don't want any trouble." He said. "Just let me go."
"Not on the boss's watch!" The hunter said, getting ready to fire the taser.
Jake didn't know what to do now as he just close this eyes and prepared for the worse. But nothing happened. The last thing he heard, was the hunter screaming and suddenly, there was no noise.
Jake slowly opened just eyes to see a sight that relief. Standing in front of him, was Megamind, holding up a small ray gun and a small blue cube in his hand.
"That's why I always carry this thing around." Megamind said, before putting the cube in his pocket.
"Megamind!" Jake said in surprise to see his guardian arrive just in time.
And at the same time, Makayla had also appeared behind him and tan up to her brother, giving him a hug.
"Jake, thank god you're okay!" Makayla said, before pulling back. "And thank goodness school was over."
"Nora said she was concerned about you, Jake." Megamind said. "And when we got close to him, we saw a bunch of vehicles we didn't recognize, pulled up in front of the lair."
"But I recognized them." Makayla said. "Those are the hunter vans from the video Natalie showed. So I knew you were in danger!"
"Wow. . . thanks for coming." Jake said. "I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't shown."
"Boss, the freak's family has returned!" Another hunter said.
"Take them out!" Chad said. "We inly need Jake!"
"Is that Chad?" Makayla asked.
"Yes, we need to get out of here!" Jake said.
"I've got this." Megamind said, aiming his gun at them. "Dehydration- !"
But before he could do anything, Chad shot the gun right out of his hand, making it fly across the room and smash into the wall, penetrated by a bolt.
"Wow. . . those are some high-density crossbow bolts you've got there." Megamind said, with a nervous chuckle.
Chad then shot another bolt right into Megamind's left shoulder, causing him to cry out in pain and fall to his knees, holding his bleeding arm.
"No!" Makayla cried out, rushing to his side.
The hunters than aimed their crossbows as Makayla, ready to fire them.
But just as they were about to shoot, Jake jumped in the way, causing him to also get shot in the shoulder by one of them.
"Jake!" Makayla cried out.
"You need to leave. . . now! And tell everyone else." Jake said, seriously. "It's me that they want. So I'm gonna give myself up!"
"No, you can't!" Makayla said.
"Take Megamind to the hospital to get helped." Jake said. "I'll deal with these assholes myself!"
Makayla then helped Megamind up as they made their way back outside. Jake tried to fight back, but felt weak from the arrow.
Jake then began to feel wobbly as he grabbed the arrow and yanked it out of his arm and threw it on the floor. But that was pointless as Jake's vision went blurry as he suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious on the floor.
"Ah, the good ol' tranquil arrow." Chad said with an evil smirk. "I should've used this a long time ago!"
The hunters then took Jake and brought him downstairs and to their van, putting him in the backseat, before driving off.
"No, Jake!" Makayla cried out from their car. "We need to go after him!"
"We can't." A fish in a robot gorilla suit said. "He's is critical condition. We need to get him to a hospital!"
"You're right, Minion." Makayla said. "But I have to save my brother!"
"Well figure that out later." Minion said, before driving off. "For now, let's get this guy some help."
Makayla sighed as she knew there was no point in arguments. Minion then began to drive to the hospital to help Megamind. But as they were driving, Makayla noticed that they were going in the opposite direction as the hunters.
"Don't worry, bro. . . I'll come back for you." Makayla said, seriously.
