The First Day At A New School
The next day, Jake and Makayla had arrived at Roosevelt High for their first day at new school.
"So. . . this is it, huh?" Makayla said. "Never thought we'd be going to our rival school."
"Well. . . whatever gets me away from that hellhole." Jake said. "I'm all for it. I just hope this school is better and the rumors didn't spread to here as well."
"Is that a thing that happens?" Makayla asked.
"You never know." Jake said. "That's why I'm gonna do my best with a good first impression."
"I wonder who will be touring us today." Makayla said. "If we get one, that is."
"I'm sure we will." Jake said. "Let's just go inside and see how it is."
Makayla nodded in agreement as they both headed into the school. When they went inside, it was much bigger than they imagined it would be.
"Wow. . . this school is huge!" Makayla said in shock and amazement.
"It's actually a lot better than Greenwood." Jake admitted. "Never thought I'd say that."
"Hi, are you the new kids I'm supposed to show around?" A kind-sounding voice asked from behind them.
Jake and Makayla turned to see none other than April O'Niel standing there with a smile.
"My name is April O'Niel." April said, introducing herself. "Welcome to Roosevelt High."
"Jake Moon." Jake said. "And this is my sister, Makayla Light."
"Nice to meet you." Makayla said with a kind smile and a wave.
"Ditto." April said. "Anyway, we have a lot to look at in this school. So let's get on with the tour."
"Alright!" Makayla said excitedly.
One hour later. . .
"So. . . that's it." April said. "That's Roosevelt High School for you. Any questions?"
"Um. . . what if we were to tell you that we came from Greenwood High?" Makayla asked.
"Ugh, that school?" A mysterious voice suddebly said in disgust. "Be glad you're here now. That school is wack!"
Everyone looked up to see none other than Casey Jones. "So, you must be the new students, huh?" He said with a smirk. "The name's Casey Jones."
"Jake Moon. Makayla Light." Jake once again said, but not easy info any time introducing himself.
"You're lucky you got to get away from that school." Casey said. "Do you have any idea how long they've one upped us? Glad you got out of there as soon as you could."
"Actually. . . there was a different reason why we transferred here." Jake said. "But I'd rather not talk about it."
"That's cool." Casey said. "Hey, Red. Weren't you gonna introduce me before I came through?"
"Maybe it was better that I didn't." April said as she rolled her eyes.
"Ouch. . ." Casey said with a playful smirk. "I'm the best there is. They deserve to know me too, right?"
April just ignored him and went back to the important bit.
"So. . . you'll have to get your schedules now and see what classes you'll be in." April said. "And after that. . . enjoy the day."
"Or at least enjoy it as best you can." Casey said. "School is totally boring and a waste of our time!"
"Of course you'd say that, Jones." April said. "You're always falling asleep in class."
"Well, what else am I supposed to do?" Casey asked. "Learn pointless stuff?"
"Whatever." April said, ignoring him again. "Anyway, I hope you have a good day. And here's to a new start here at Roosevelt High."
As that was said, the bell suddenly rang as April and Casey headed to class.
"So. . . I guess we have to go now." Makayla said.
"Let's find our classes." Jake said.
