Teaming Up. . . Kind Of
At school, Natalie was waiting patiently at the front gates for Jake to arrive, so she could get all the time with him that she wanted. But so far, he hasn't seemed to show up at all.
"Ugh, where's Jake?!" Natalie said to herself in anger. "He should be here by now! What's keeping him?"
Natalie continued to wait around. But as class was gonna start in a while, there was hardly any time to spend with Jake at all.
"Man, this stinks." Natalie said, crossing her arms and pouting. "My Jakey-boo isn't coming to see me."
"He's probably avoiding you." A voice said from next to her.
Natalie looked over to see none other than Ryan walking up to her with a dull look on her face. "I wouldn't waste my time with him." She said. "He'll only make you feel like an awful person."
"How do you know?" Natalie asked.
"Cause he's my ex-boyfriend." Ryan said with a frown. "How do *you* know him?"
Natalie thought for a moment before suddenly giving an evil smirk. "He's, uh. . . *my* ex-boyfriend, too." She said. "Yeah, we were so happy together, but in the end, it didn't work out."
"Really?" Ryan said, raising an eyebrow. "He never mentioned another girlfriend to me before."
"Well, perhaps we may have dated after he broke up with you." Natalie said with a smirk.
"Actually, I was the one who-" Ryan said, but quickly stopping herself. "I mean, yeah. That would make sense."
"Seems he mistreated both of us then, huh?" Natalie said. "A good guy, wanting nothing more than to use his girlfriends as objects for his own fantasies."
"Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say that about him." Ryan said, with a faint blush appearing on her face. "He was. . . actually a pretty good guy. He treated me with all the respect in the world. I guess that was until he decided to break up with me."
"Nonsense. You don't have to keep your trauma hidden." Natalie said with a smirk. "Clearly, we went through the same thing, right?"
"I. . . I don't want to lie." Ryan said. "Jake never once used me as a tool for his own desires."
"Then, why would he break up with you out of nowhere?" Natalie asked.
"I guess it just wasn't meant to work out well?" Ryan said, but it came off more as a question.
"I see." Natalie said. "So, he *didn't* use you for sex?"
"Ew, gross! Of course not!" Ryan said. "We're teenagers. We wouldn't do that until we were more mature."
"Right. . . I see." Natalie said. "He definitely had me used, though."
"I'm just gonna go now. . ." Ryan said, but was quickly stopped when Natalie grabbed her arm.
"Wait, maybe there's a way that we can both get what we want." Natalie said with a sly smirk.
"What do you mean?" Ryan asked. "I'm not understanding where you're going with this."
"Look, I understand that you both had a rough patch in your relationship." Natalie said. "But maybe. . . I can help you."
"Help me?" Ryan asked. "Help me get Jake back? But, wouldn't that be-"
"Don't worry if it's wierd for me." Natalie said with a smirk. "I'm over him. But seeing how hurt he made another girl who didn't deserve it, I think it makes sense to help you more than to help myself."
"Hmm. . . I don't know." Ryan said. "I don't think he'd want to take me back."
"Well, if he regrets what he did, he will." Natalie said.
"Well, say he did regret it. We're not a couple anymore." Ryan said. "What if he's already moved on?"
"Then, we'll just have to convince him that you're the right girl for him." Natalie said. "Make him want you again!"
"You sound like Trinity." Ryan said.
"I don't know who that is, but she's right." Natalie said.
Ryan looked down in thought. She didn't know if she wanted to go through with this.
"Listen, you know how much it pains me to see a fellow woman sad over a male?" Natalie said, with a sympathetic look. "It may be wrong to get back with your ex, but if he really meant that much to you and vise versa. . . he won't even hesitate to leave whoever he's with now, to be with you."
"So, you're saying you can help me?" Ryan asked. "And I just have to. . . trust you?"
"Well, yeah." Natalie said. "It wouldn't work otherwise."
Ryan thought about it for a minute before forming a serious look on her face. After what happened before when she tried to get Jake back, she was about ready to give up. But with this newfound confidence in herself, she would stop at nothing to get him back.
"Okay. . . I'll trust you." Ryan said. "I'll let you help me get Jake back."
"Wonderful." Natalie said with a smirk.
"I just have a question." Ryan said.
"I'm listening." Natalie said.
"How do I make sure that Jake will want me back?" Ryan asked. "There's a lot of other girls out there who may want him and vise versa."
"Then we eliminate the competition." Natalie said with a fire in her eyes.
"Wait. . . eliminate? As in. . . kill?" Ryan asked, sounding nervous.
"Hey, I didn't say that." Natalie said. "But I guess that would be a good permanent way to keep the competition away."
Ryan looked down for a moment. She didn't know of this was such a good idea anymore. At least Trinity didn't suggest killing anyone.
"Look, do you want Jake back or not?" Natalie asked.
"I don't know. . . yeah, I guess." Ryan said.
"Then join me." Natalie said. "I'll introduce you to a whole new world of hunting."
"Well. . . okay." Ryan said. "But I'm still not on board with the whole 'killing' thing yet."
"That's okay." Natalie said. "Just give it some time."
At that moment, the bell rang.
"Oh, class time." Natalie said. "Meet me tonight, after school, at 24/7. We'll discuss things then."
With that said, Natalie strutted off to class, leaving Ryan alone to think to herself. At that moment, Trinity saw her and walked up to her.
"Who was that girl you were talking to, Ry?" Trinity asked.
"Someone who's gonna help me get Jake back, apparently." Ryan said.
"Interesting. . ." Trinity said with a smirk. "Well, I something to tell you. And it's something that you might want to know. . ."
Ryan looked at Trinity with an intrigued look as she was prepared to listen to what her best friend had to say.
"I know who Jake's been hanging out with." Trinity said with a smirk. "It's a girl. . . a girl named April O'Niel."
