Jake Meets The Turtles
Everything was just darkness. That's all Jake saw. He didn't even know what had happened, but here he was. Unconscious. Was he captured? Maybe he got away safely and just passed out?
Opening his eyes, Jake was mean with blurry vision and a bright light. And in the brightness, he heard a voice.
"Jake? Jake, are you okay?" April's voice called out to him.
"He'll be fine." An unfamilia voice said. "Give him some space. Like. . . a lot of space."
"Dude, I can't believe you found him like this." Another unfamiliar voice said, but sounded quite excited, despite his condition.
"Hey, I said give him some space!" The other voice form before said, followed by a shuffling sound.
Once his vision came back, Jake slowly sat up and took a look around.
"Huh? Where am I?" Jake said to himself. "The last thing I remember is-"
Jake suddenly stopped in his tracks when he caught sight of something truly shocking. Standing in front of him, were four mutant turtles. The first one had a blue mask and blue eyes. His name is Leonardo, or Leo, short. The second one had a red mask and emerald green eyes. His name is Raphael, or Raph, for short. The third turtle had am orange mask and baby blue eyes. His name is Michelangelo, or Mikey, for short. And lastly, there was Donnie.
"Hi." Mikey said with a big smile on his face.
"AAAAAHHHH!" Jake screamed as he fell back on the ground in fear. "W-What the hell? Who are you? No. . . *What* are you?!"
"Woah, calm down." April said, gently, walking up to the scared Jake. "It's okay. They won't hurt you."
"Yeah, we're cool." Mikey said with a smile.
"Maybe he just got scared by your face." Raph said with a chuckle. "You tend to have the effect on people."
Jake slowly stood back up, shaking and looking on fear at the four turtles. "So. . . you're not gonna kill me?" Jake asked.
"Why would we do that?" Leo asked.
"Well, I just assumed. . . Nevermind." Jake said, as he suddenly sniffed the air and wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Are we in the sewer?"
"Well. . . technically, yes." Mikey said.
"Gross. I'm gonna need a shower later." Jake said, feeling disgusted. "Anyway, why am I here?"
"This guy is asking the real questions here." Donnie said, giving Jake a death glare.
"Well. . . you fell unconscious after the hunters attacked." April said. "Well, it was more like, you were knocked out."
"I thought you were attacking April." Donnie said. "And I wasn't about to have that happen."
Jake suddenly remembered what happened back on the streets. But all he could remember was being attacked and seeing April get hurt. And after that, it was all a blur.
"Damn it. . . those stupid hunters." Jake said. "Are you okay, April? The last thing I remember was you getting hurt."
"I'm fine." April said, rubbing her arm. "Donnie patched me up. But I'm more concerned about you, Jake."
"I. . . I really don't remember what happened." Jake said.
"Well, that's all fine and dandy, but we aren't just gonna skip over our friendly introductions!" Mikey said.
"Oh, right. . ." April said, facepalming herself. "Jake, these are my friends."
"You're friends with four giant, talking turtles?" Jake asked.
"Got a problem?" Donnie asked, condescendingly. "Cause you can leave."
"No, I. . . I just think it's a little wierd." Jake said.
"We get that a lot." Mikey said. "We're not usually supposed to be seen by humans because of. . . well, because of their reactions like your first one."
"Ah. . ." Jake said.
"By the way, my name is Michelangelo." Mikey said. "But you can call me Mikey."
"My name is Leonardo." Leo said. "But you can just call me Leo."
"Or you can call him Lame-O-Nardo." Raph said, playfully punching his brother's arm.
"You know I hate that." Leo said, feeling a bit offended.
"Name's Raphael." Raph said, ignoring his brother. "Or Raph, for short."
Jake nodded. "Okay. . ." He said, looking over at Donnie. "And you are?"
Donnie scoffed. "I'm Donatello." He said.
"Okay. . . I assume you go by Donnie." Jake said.
Donnie just gave Jake a side-eye and scoffed again.
"Rude." Jake said.
"Don't mind him." Raph said. "He gets moody sometimes. You'll get used to it."
"Yeah, sorry." Jake said. "I don't *want* to get used to it. I just. . . I'm gonna go home now."
"Wait, please stay." Mikey said. "I'll let you have some of my leftover pizza!"
"You guys eat pizza?" Jake asked.
"Yeah, what did you think we ate?" Raph asked.
"Uh, I don't know." Jake shrugged. "Maybe, like. . . lettuce, or something."
"You have a lot to learn about us." Leo said.
"And we can start now if you'd like!" Mikey said.
"Hold on, of he wants to go home, then we should respect his wishes." Donnie said. "We don't want to keep him for longer than he wants to be here, right? We have to be courteous to our new guest."
"Well. . . I guess I'll stay for a while." Jake said. "Besides, the hunters may still be out there."
"Awesome!" Mikey said happily.
"Great. . ." Donnie said, with a scowl.
April smiled as it appeared that Jake was getting along well with her friends already. But she instantly frowned as she remembered what she had witnessed just hours earlier.
'I really hope that Jake is okay.' She thought to herself. 'Whatever happened earlier, definitely wasn't normal.'
_____
As Jake was hanging out with the turtles, he got to know them a lot more. And he grew a pretty good friendship with them pretty quickly.
Leo had brought Jake into the living room to watch his favorite show, Space Heroes, with him. And while Leo was enjoying it, Jake wasn't so much.
"This show is stupid." Jake said.
"No, it's not." Leo said, getting defensive. "It's a masterpiece of a sci-fi adventure series!"
"I tried to tell you many times, bro." Raph said. "You never listen."
"Whatever." Leo said. "You guys are a bunch of buzz-kills."
"Hey, why don't you come to the dojo?" Raph asked. "We can go ahead and spar each other."
"I'm not much of a fighter." Jake said. "But. . . I can try."
"Nah, he'll kick your butt." Mikey said.
"Don't worry, I'll go easy on him." Raph said, cracking his knuckles. "But only for the first few minutes."
"You know what? I'm feeling a little sore from earlier." Jake said, trying to make an excuse. "Maybe another time, perhaps?"
"Alright, your loss." Raph shrugged.
"Hey, Jake!" Mikey said, suddenly coming out of nowhere. "I made us a pizza!"
"Oh, wow. . . you really shouldn't have." Jake said.
"Of course I should've." Mikey said with a smile. "You're our new friend, so you deserve a treat."
Donnie just scoffed and crossed his arms.
"Uh, thanks." Jake said. But when he saw the pizza, he instantly regretted his decision. "What the? What *is* this?"
"It's barbecue sauce and oyster pizza." Mikey said with a proud smile. "I made it myself."
"Yeah. . . I'll pass." Jake politely said, pushing the pizza away.
"Oh well." Mikey shrugged. "More for me, I guess."
"I don't think I'll ever understand you." Jake said.
"No need to even try." Raph said. "He's always in his own little world."
"What is going on in here?" A voice said from out of nowhere.
Jake turned around and instantly started to freak out again when he saw something that nearly made his heart skip a beat. It was a giant mutant rat wearing a red robe.
"What the? A giant rat?" Jake asked in shock.
"And who is this other human?" The mutant rat asked, pointing at Jake.
"Oh, Master Splinter." April said, walking up to the rat. "This is Jake. He's a friend. Jake, this is Splinter. Don't worry, he's a cool dude."
"Nice to meet you, Jake." Splinter said with a smile.
"Uh. . . ditto." Jake said. "Am I sure I'm not still unconscious?"
"We were attacked by a group of hunters and I had to bring him back here." April explained. "I hope that was okay."
"As long as he doesn't tell anyone about us." Splinter said. "I don't see how it'll be a problem."
"Don't worry. I don't plan to tell anyone." Jake said. "Not that anyone will believe me, anyway."
"Speaking of which, it's getting pretty late now." April said. "I should be getting home."
"On crap. . . Megamind is probably worried sick about me!" Jake said. "I have to get going as well."
"That's understandable." Leo said.
"You'll come back to visit though, right?" Mikey asked. "Please?"
"Sure." Jake said. "I don't see why not."
"Should I walk you home?" April asked.
"Uh, sure." Jake said. "Let's go."
With that said, Jake and April headed out of the lair to walk home. They had to make sure that they were extra careful, as to not run in to the hunters again.
"He's a cool dude." Mikey said with a smile.
"I can see him joining our team." Leo said.
"Hopefully we can spar next time we meet." Raph said.
"I don't trust him. . ." Donnie said with a suspicious look on his face.
