A Scary Vision Of The Future?

Back at April's apartment, she had gotten ready for bed and was about to go to sleep. But after the crazy night she had, she was extra vigilant. She made sure to lock her window and her door and even placed her tessen on her side table, so she could get to it of anyone were to break in.

"Okay. . . everything will be fine." April told herself. "I just. . . I need to stay calm. No one will hurt me."

April took a deep breath as she changed into her pajamas and lay down in her bed, throwing the covers over her and looking up at the ceiling.

"I wonder if Jake will be okay." April said to herself. "The way he was acting before. . . I can't help but worry."

April thought back to earlier that night when Jake had turned into something that wasn't himself. And she was worried for him.

But as she continued to think about Jake, April slowly began to drift off to sleep. And once she was sleeping, her mind suddenly began to warp as she started to have some sort of weird dream. Or was it?

April's 'dream'. . .

April opened her eyes to find herself floating in a dark void. She looked up, down, and all around and couldn't wrap her head around what was happening.

"Uh. . . what's going on?" April asked, as if someone would hear her. "Where am I? Hello? Anyone out there?"

"Well, well, well. . . I didn't think I'd see you again." A dark voice said in the shadows.

"Huh? Who's there?" April called out. "Show yourself!"

Suddenly, the world warped again and April found herself in her bathroom. "What the heck is going on right now?" She asked herself, looking in the mirror at her reflection. "I must be going crazy or something."

"I assure you, you're not crazy." The dark voice said once again.

April continued to look in her reflection, waiting to see if something would happen. Suddenly, her reflection changed to a black alien creature with wings, causing April to get jump-scared and fall backwards.

"We meet again, O'Niel. . ." The alien said evilly.

"No. . . not you." April said, totally freaked out. "Anyone but you!"

"Oh, but it *is* me!" The alien said as it reached out through the mirror and pulled itself out, now floating in front of April.

"Za-Naron?!" April spoke out in shock by what she was seeing. "But. . . I destroyed you!"

"You can never fully defeat me!" Za-Naron said evilly. "I'll always be in your head! Waiting for the right moment to spread my evil and wipe out humanity!"

"No. . . I won't let you!" April said. "I'll never let you have control again!"

"Oh, poor April." Za-Naron said, mockingly. "You don't get it, do you?"

"I don't get what?" April asked.

"If I can't take control once more. . . the future will be at stake." Za-Naron smirked.

"It'll be at stake if I *do* let you take control." April said angrily. "You're not gonna trick me!"

"Sorry, what I meant was. . . you can't stop the future from happening." Za-Naron smirked evilly. "Because the future is inevitable. And so am I!"

Suddenly, the void seemed to disappear around them and placed April and Za-Naron in a new scene. But it wasn't a pretty one. April gasped in horror as she witnessed the scene in front of her.

The city was destroyed. Buildings burned, ash rained from the sky, thugs were raiding stores, it was awful. It was like an apocalyptic wasteland.

"Look at this, April. . . we can have this." Za-Naron said.

April looked up in the sky to see something even more horrifying. It was Jake and herself. But they didn't look quite right. In fact, they almost looked. . . possessed.

"What happened to me and Jake?" April asked. "Did we-"

"I took control." Za-Naron said evilly. "And so did he!"

"Who's 'he'?" April asked.

"An old friend of mine." Za-Naron smirked. "A ghostly spirit named. . . Night Shade."

"Night Shade?" April spoke out in shock.

"He was once a great ruler of all vampires." Za-Naron said. "He possesses the bodies of those who are worthy of his power. The last person he possessed. . . was a young astronaut in 1969."

"That was the year of the moon landing." April said.

"Yes. Good to see someone did their science homework." Za-Naron smirked. "However, it wasn't the moon landing. It was a different type of landing. The young astronaut flew all the way out of their galaxy, and wounded up on the Aeons' planet. And that's when I met him."

"So, a possessed astronaut came to your planet?" April asked. "Then what?"

"We ate him." Za-Naron said.

"Huh?!" April cried out in terror from hearing that.

"He explained his story and I explained mine." Za-Naron said. "After killing and eating the poor astronaut-"

"You don't have to mention that you ate him everytime." April said.

"He mentioned that he picks a new vessel every millennia." Za-Naron explained. "And his new vessel. . . is your boyfriend, Jake."

"He's not my boyfriend." April protested. "But how do you know this?"

"Because I saw him. . . earlier tonight." Za-Naron smirked. "He has awakened. And soon. . . the world will be bathed in a new darkness."

"You don't mean. . . this is the future?" April asked in shock and fear.

As she said that, music began to play and Za-Naron began to sing:

Za-Naron: "I see a cold wind
blowing through
I see days neither fun nor free
I see a future that's not cool
I see a path of destruction

The future should be filled with magic
Dreams and wishes brought to life
But the days ahead are
dark and tragic
No time for hope when all is strife
Whatever might have been
All the dreams you humans share
Because Now that's he awake
The future will be a cold nightmare!"

"N-No. . . this can't be real!" April said, now freaking out. "You shouldn't be able to do this!"

"I'm sorry, April. . . this is just how it's meant to be." Za-Naron said evilly. "Once Night Shade is free, he will use his powers to bathe the future in eternal darkness!"

"No. . . I'll warn Jake!" April said. "And together we'll stop him!"

"I'd like to see you try." Za-Naron said with an evil smirk. "Cause now, time is ticking down to doom! This future will come before you know it!"

Suddenly, the ground underneath April broke as she began to plummet towards a dark abyss. As she fell, she was screaming all the way, before landing with a hard thud.

End of dream/vision. . .

April shot awake with a startled scream. She found herself holding a hand over her chest, trying to catch her breath from the fear she was experienced.

At that moment, the door shot open and April's dad was standing there. He immediately went to April's side and sat down next to her.

"April. . . what's wrong?" Kirby asked in a frantic and worried tone. "Are you okay?"

April didn't say anything as her quick breathing had slowed down and her eyes began to well up with tears.

"Oh, April. . ." Kirby said, holding out his arms and pulling his daughter in for a hug.

April began to sob softly in his arms. The fear still there from the dream she had. But was it really a dream?

Then, in a twist, April's vanity mirror had fogged up as a reflection of Za-Naron suddenly appeared. She smirked evilly as she was sure her plan would succeed.
