Familiar Encounters

The next day at school, two three students were at their lockers, preparing to finally get out for their upcoming summer vacation. Their names are Jake and April.

A lot has happened in the past few months and they weren't able to get much school done. But they were able to be compensated from their absences and were able to pass their classes. . . barely.

"Thank god for second chances." Jake said with a sigh. "I thought for sure we'd fail with how much we missed."

"Yeah, it kind of sucks we missed so much." April said. "But it helps to be busy making a difference in the world."

Jake sighed as he closed his locker.

"Are you alright?" April asked.

"I'm good." Jake said. "Let's just finish this day and enjoy our break."

April sighed as she knew that he went through a lot. And it was extremely hard for him because they had just got back from their visit to Transylvania. And the events that happened there were enough to traumatize him for some time.

'At least we finally get a break.' April thought to herself, hoping for the best.

Jake walked through the halls, just minding his own business. And that's when his sister, Makayla, suddenly saw him m and ran up to him.

"Hey bro! How was your day?" Makayla asked.

"It was fine, I guess." Jake shrugged. "Not really much is different."

"I guess so, huh?" Makayla said. "How are you feeling after our trip?"

"I've been better." Jake said. "I just don't want to talk about it."

"Right. . . sorry." Makayla said.

"I just wish my life wasn't such a hell-show sometimes." Jake said. "These powers are truly a curse to my name."

"That's not what your mother said." Makayla said.

"I don't want to talk about it." Jake sighed as he just kept looking forward.

But Jake wasn't paying much attention as he suddenly bumped into someone, causing both of them to fall to the ground.

"Are you okay, bro?" Makayla asked, rushing to Jake's side.

"I'm good." Jake said, standing up.

"Ow." Another voice said.

Jake looked down to see that he had accidentally knocked down a young woman with green hair and dirt brown eyes.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry." Jake said, reaching out his hand to help the girl. "I wasn't paying much attention to what I was doing."

The green haired girl just looked up at Jake with a starstruck expression. It was almost like she made a realization of some sorts.

"Um. . . are you alright?" Jake asked.

"Oh, sorry." The green haired girl said, taking Jake's hand and standing up.

"I don't think I've seen you around before." Jake said. "Are you new?"

'Is he serious?' The green haired girl thought to herself.

"Bro, it's the end of the year." Makayla said. "How would she be new?"

"Right, duh!" Jake said, facepalming. "Sorry, my mind is full of things going on. I haven't been able to focus much lately."

'Even if you weren't, I doubt you'd remember me.' The green haired girl said. 'No one does.'

"I'm Jake, by the way." Jake said. "What's your name?"

"I'm Wallflower Blush." The green haired girl said. "You really don't know who I am?"

"Wait, let me think." Jake said as he wondered about it for a second.

"I'm the leader and founder of the school's gardening club." Wallflower said. "And I was a new student in one of your classes earlier this year?"

"Huh. . . we have a gardening club?" Makayla asked.

"Sorry, nothing is ringing a bell." Jake said. "Maybe once my mind clears out, I'll remember better."

Wallflower just sighed as she figured this would be the case. It has been a while, but she still hoped she was important enough to be remembered. Especially by Jake.

"It's okay." Wallflower said. "Don't bother yourself with it. I'm used to it."

"Wallflower Blush!" A high pitched yelled from across the hallway.

Wallflower looked ahead as Jake and Makayla looked behind them to see another young woman running to them. She had long, messy purple hair and purple eyes.

"Careful, Tsumiki!" Wallflower called out to her. "You'll end up tripping over again!"

But her efforts were in vain as that's exactly what happened. As soon as the purple haired girl made it to them, she ended up tripping over her own foot and fell the ground on her face. But that's the worst of it. When she fell, her skirt somehow lifted upwards, revealing her underwear to any students passing by, who just laughed at her (and some perverts even took pictures).

Jake blushed a deep shade of red as he quickly looked away and covered his face in shame.

"Oof. . . that was hard to watch." Makayla said.

"Did you just actually say 'oof'?" Jake asked in disbelief.

"I'm sorry!" The purple haired girl said, as she quickly sat up in her knees. "I'm just so clumsy!"

"If that's what you want to call it." Jake sighed.

The purple haired girl just whimpered as tears began to fill up in her eyes.

"Sorry about that." Wallflower sighed. "This is my friend, Mikan Tsumiki. She's usually like this."

"Huh? You're supposed to say I'm *not* usually like this!" Mikan said, sounding offended.

"That would be lying." Wallflower said.

"No, it's fine." Jake said, still blushing in embarrassment. "I'm just concerned with the way she fell. It looked like it hurt."

Mikan looked up at Jake as she began to cry again.

"Damn it, what now?" Wallflower asked in a bit of an angry tone.

"This guys. . . he's so nice!" Mikan said. "He reminds me of someone I knew back when I was a child."

"How do I remind you of anyone?" Jake asked.

Mikan then stopped crying as she stood up and looked at Jake.

"Uh. . ." Jake said.

"Wait. . . do I know you?" Mikan asked. "I said you reminded me of someone, but now that I'm really looking at you. . ."

"This is getting kind of weird." Jake said.

"Ah, I'm sorry!" Mikan said, backing up a bit. "It's just. . . I feel like I know you."

"I already tried that." Wallflower said. "It doesn't seem to work."

'So, he doesn't remember Wallflower?' Mikan thought to herself. 'He's not gonna remember me, then. Or the others.'

As they thought that, the bell suddenly rang, meaning that it was time for class.

"Oh no! It's the warning bell!" Mikan said, acting frantically. "We need to get to class, Wallflower!"

Mikan then grabbed Wallflower's hand and pulled her away from Jake. "Hey, take it easy!" Wallflower said as the two of them disappeared down the hallway.

"That was weird." Makayla said. "But they seem cool. I wonder if we can befriend them."

"They seem to already know me." Jake said.

"Huh?" Makayla asked.

"If they know me, then I definitely knew them." Jake said. "Why can't I remember anything else? God, it was so easy to remember my mother!"

"Isn't that because you saw her in flashback dreams?" Makayla asked.

"Maybe I'll remember later." Jake said. "For now, we need to get to class."

Ignoring the situation, Jake and Makayla headed to their next classes.

But little did Jake know, was that the two girls he just met, weren't just ordinary strangers. And they actually played a big role in his childhood years. He just needed the right circumstance to remember them. And he would soon get it.
