The next day, Sharon and the siblings went to the tiny wooden pier by the ocean near their cabin. It was far enough from the village that no one else fished there. Sharon was dressed in overalls and rain boots again, while the siblings wore normal clothing, seeing as how the cold rarely affected them.

Sharon sat by the pier, legs dangling off. She was reminded once more of fishing with her grandpa as a child before he passed away. They always had a great time together. He would always tease her and make her laugh. People did always say a child's laughter was infectious.

Goldie sat beside Sharon, as opposed to the first time they went fishing together where she sat behind in fright and wonder. She leaned against Sharon, finding comfort in her warm body. Born in the water, she rarely witnessed the warmth. Before touching her first human body, she never knew the difference between cold and hot. Temperatures were unknown to her until now.

The birds were chirping with no care in the world as if there was no trouble on the very land they lived on. The fish were lively and full - the Sirens could tell - but they avoided Sharon's hook of bait. The water rippled in excitement, and it took every ounce of patience from Goldie to not jump in the water. HYDRA had the technology to explore the waters in search of Sirens, so it would be dangerous.

Sirens didn't know God. They only believed in their god Poseidon. He protected sea creatures since the dawn of his time.

Goldie was young for a Siren. She was a baby in the eyes of other Sirens, even with her grown body. She didn't think hard of their god or know of other gods. Cerdian prayed each morning when the sun rose in time for another day and the sunset to signify the end of a long day. Airis would say a quick prayer, but she believed in taking matters into your hands. She didn't rely on Poseidon to save them. Their parents may be dead, but they still had each other. Airis would be damned if she let humans take Cerdian and Goldie away.

Cerdian nudged Airis, snapping her out of her bloodthirsty daze. "She likes her."

Airis looked over at Goldie and Sharon. "Which way?"

"Both ways," he said smugly, crossing his arms over his chest. "You're jealous you haven't found your mate."

"I'm not jealous, you bottom feeder," she insulted.

He shrugged, looking over at the two girls. "Maybe so. Goldie's scented her. Have you noticed?"

"How could I not?" she retorted.

"Our sister won't leave her."

"We stay then," said Airis. "I'm not leaving her. I believe we should fight, but we're in no shape. Not after our parents gave up their lives for us."

"Yes, we should be careful," Cerdian agreed. After a moment of silence, he said, "We should teach Goldie English. She's a bit raw."

"Well, she's never been the smart one. She's the nice one."

"Even a shark wouldn't attack her," said Cerdian.

"Yes, because she'd offer her up to it!" Airis exclaimed.

The siblings both sighed at the very true fact.
