Goldie was a Siren, a rare species wanted by organizations such as HYDRA and the Masters of Evil for their evil agendas. The Masters of Evil were a team of supervillains who used most of their henchmen to do the dirty work. HYDRA always had loyal members, and after enough time, they rebuilt the organization.

S.H.I.E.L.D. was created in order to keep the world safe from dangers, but it evolved into protection services for certain people. Mainly, they took in mutants and creatures who were being targeted by evil organizations who wanted to use them to rule the world. That was how Sharon Carter got assigned to Goldie.

She was a child of the moon, born and raised under it. Sharon was taught to be wary of Sirens since she was young, but now, she was in charge of protecting one.

Sirens were a dying species, being hunted down each day for their powers. Goldie had washed ashore one day, and S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to stop some soldiers from the Masters of Evil from getting their hands on her.

The world was changing and more creatures were revealing themselves to the world as more S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were recruited to protect them all while attempting to destroy organizations such as HYDRA and the Masters of Evil.

Goldie was a quiet woman who didn't talk. When asked questions, she would only nod or shake her head. Sirens were born in water, so they didn't need to learn how to write. She was to live with Sharon in a safe house until S.H.I.E.L.D. was certain she would be safe.

Sharon was forced to interact with Goldie, seeing as she didn't know the ways of the human world. Sharon would catch fish for her, and she felt like she was back in her childhood catching fish with her grandpa before he passed away.

Babysitting Goldie was easy and it was the first time in a while where she could relax. Occasionally, Sharon would read to Goldie as if she were her child. It had been a long time since she read a book for the sake of reading and not because she was forced to look like she was reading while on a mission.

Goldie wasn't apprehensive about Sharon. She was the exact opposite. She was eager to learn and see the world, and Sharon could tell based on the way her eyes lit up when watching the television or whenever she saw her toes and giggled.

It was a sight to see because it reminded Sharon that she really was babysitting. She was teaching Goldie human customs as well, and she swore she should have gotten paid more for doing so, but Goldie proved to be a good student.

But Sharon had to constantly remind herself Goldie was a simple year-long mission. It was nothing more because it wasn't allowed to be more only because Sharon didn't do well in relationships.
