Goldie's siblings Cerdian and Airis escaped HYDRA because their parents protected them long enough for them to swim away and find Goldie who had been separated from them.

Sharon remembered the day S.H.I.E.L.D. brought her in. She was naked but wasn't shivering because being a Siren meant being used to the coldest temperatures in the darkest, darkest parts of the ocean.

Sharon wasn't assigned to her yet, but she remembered the whispers as people talked about a Siren being in S.H.I.E.L.D. They didn't bother to hide their surprise or remarks, and Sharon disliked it because respect should have been a norm.

The siblings hugged each other as if someone was going to take them away again. Sharon didn't want to do that, but she knew she would have to inform Maria Hill, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. of the development. She sent a message to Maria but reprimanded her that she shouldn't separate them.

Goldie talked animatedly in their native language to her siblings, and Sharon assumed it was about her based on the glances Goldie shot. The siblings would nod and look over Sharon's body, pointedly looking at her legs and feet.

"Story," demanded Goldie as she walked over to Sharon and looked at her with the puppy eyes she learned to do after seeing it on a television show.

Sharon softly smiled. "Okay."

They sat on the couch, considering Goldie's bed wouldn't be big enough. Sharon began at the beginning of The Little Mermaid before picking up at where Goldie and she left off previously.

"Just then, she heard a group of girls come over. At once, she dove into the sea and hid behind a rock. They must not see her - a mermaid! The girls found the prince, who was now awake. They called for help and soon he was led off. The prince would never know that she had saved him. The Little Mermaid sank into a deep gloom. When she went back home, her sisters wanted to know all about her trip. But she was too sad to say anything. Days went by. Then weeks. The sisters went to their grandmother for help. The old woman went to her granddaughter. 'Child, what is the matter?' she said. The Little Mermaid cried out, 'Grandmother, I will never be happy again!' She told about meeting the prince and saving him. Then having to leave him behind. 'Unless I can somehow walk on land and be with that young man, I will be sad for the rest of my days!' "

"I'm happy," muttered Goldie, snuggling her head deeper into Sharon's neck.

"I'm glad," said Sharon.

Her siblings said something in their native language, causing Goldie to huff. They were teasing her, and they were making it clear based on their giggles and gentle shoving. Goldie didn't appreciate the way they were teasing her about her small crush on Sharon, but she was glad they were alive and with her.

Sharon continued the story, and Goldie soon fell asleep, peaceful at the fact that her siblings were safe and Sharon's arms around her were comfortable.
